How easily we give up on something or find fault is how high our tolerance level for adversity is. If we have lived a life of ease, comfort and having things handed to us, then our tolerance level will be low. If we are selfish or self absorbed then our tolerance level will be very minimum. Lessening our selfishness, focussing out and remembering that the purpose of life is not about acquisiitions will help us to have more wider thinking. Reading the life stories of successful people will let us know how much hardship and tolerance others had to achieve and so shall we if we go all the way.Tolerance level can grow and expand. How much our tolerance level is will determine how much we can achieve. Tsem Rinpoche

My parents were 100% against me to follow dharma, study dharma or do dharma in any way. They told me I have to get a real job, real career and make myself respectable. They told me if I did dharma or become a monk, they would lose face and disown me. I didn’t want to do dharma to go against them, but I could not LIVE THEIR version of happiness. To live their ideals of life, happiness and what is right. I just couldn’t. For not obeying them, they made me pay many heavy prices. I didn’t enjoy the punishments, threats and pain they inflicted on me, but it would have been more painful to do what they wanted me to do. I made a choice, that I have to do what’s in my heart and if they don’t agree, I am sorry. I mean no disrespect. I will pay the dues and go all the way. I did what I wanted. And I continue to. You know since very young, for better or worse, I always did the things that others told me not to do. I wasn’t really good at following the rules. Even now with how I share dharma and my practice, I just do it the way I think it should be done but I do it sincerely. Not what others tell me what I can and can’t do. Tsem Rinpoche

I am comfortable here although more space would be nice. But then life is like that, more is ‘always nice’. I would very much like to visit Los Angeles though. It’s a very strong longing. But it seems, if you have alot of responsibilities you don’t usually achieve want you want personally…
