My father is a ex-monk from Tibet. My mother is Princess Dewa from Xinjiang who is a direct line from Genghis Khan. I was born in Taiwan, grew up in the States and returned to Gaden in India in 1987. Had the great honour to be ordained by HH Dalai Lama and to meet my root guru HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. Now I reside in Malaysia as spiritual advisor to Kechara House and its thirteen departments.

Never make promises then you break them with your spouse. It is the best way to destroy something good. Tsem Rinpoche The best way to love someone is to be the best you can be. In all relationships, being the best can only boost your partner’s trust in you. ~Tsem Rinpoche Love is a word used lightly sometimes. Love must entail loyalty, compassion, genuine care, sharing and honesty. Tsem Rinpoche In all relationships, honesty is most important. If you are honest, your relationship will grow stronger and better with time. ~Tsem Rinpoche What you get out of a relationship is what you put into it. You want it to be positive then treat your partner with respect, loyalty, honesty and good communications. Tsem Rinpoche It takes a years to earn the trust of your spouse, but one selfish mistake to break their heart. Then years to regain their trust again. Just be honest from the beginning and always be loyal. Tsem Rinpoche There is so much samsara out there, why bring more samsara into your relationship with your partner. Tsem Rinpoche Everyone has so much pain already.
Dear friends and those who want to go serious, You know I was watching a video on Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour and also a Abba video on youtube…and I got the idea that I want to talk on why we do preliminary practices. How preliminary practices lead to tantra. How it is connected. How Lam Rim, Three Principal Paths, four preliminary retreats support Tantra and lead to tantric attainments. It is so important to know these preliminary practices lead to tantric attainments and how so. Without these practices being grounded in your mindstream, there is a high chance you will give up your tantric practices. Many run for higher practices and neglect the preparatory practices and that is the main ingredient to success in higher practices. So in this video I share with you how to avoid the pitfalls. Please listen carefully and let me know what you have learned in the comments below. Just as important, I want to say if you cannot engage in the four preliminary practices based on good and honest reasons, then dharma work is even more important in your centre or place of convenience. With dharma work you can purify lots of demerits and gain merits which [...]

(Myself when I returned to Gaden Shartse Monastery for a visit with 60 students from various countries) A friend showed me this video. It is a interesting video….You can learn quite alot from the video. It’s His Holiness the Dalai Lama giving explanation of the incredible phenomena of oracles that have existed in Tibet for over 1,000 years. It’s a special tradition. What a nice treat to see His Holiness in his prayer/study room in the video..His Holiness shows us his walking area and aviary also…. It’s wonderful to see this VERY RARE VIDEO. It shows you many types of awakened beings definitely exist. You can see formless beings (Protectors) taking trance in specially trained people to speak, give prophecies about the future. Tibetan Lamas have mastered this perfectly. When you listen to their prophecies during trance in the oracle, they know things that no one could possible know or what they say very precisely comes true. I have witnessed this personally. It makes you think there are other forms of existences. Awakened spiritual beings as depicted in statues and thangkas exist. We can connect with them…. Also if there are other forms of existences besides our flesh body forms, [...]

Dear Serious Spiritual Aspirants, For those of you in Dharma who wishes to move ahead and eventually practice the higher teachings (Tantra and Vajra Yogini, Yamantaka, Kalacakra, etc), this talk David Lai gave IS ESSENTIAL. You must listen carefully..after hearing the talk hold an incense to Buddha and pray (aspire) YOU MAY RECEIVE THE VOWS AND HOLD THEM WELL. Then make three prostrations to Buddha with that strong aspiration and dedicate. It will plants karmic seeds to hold these powerful vows handed down to us by Buddha Himself. Without holding the Bodhisattva vows correctly, it is impossible to expect results from any tantric practice. Tantra is not just attending an exciting exotic initiation, chanting powerful mantras and doing intricate visualizations AND THEN BOOM YOU ARE ATTAINED. It is never so fast and so ‘easy’. There is a lot more to do before, during and after initiation. Especially afterwards…. I always discouraged people to run after one initiation after another or to get initiation too soon… You should not get many initiations unless you can do all the practices and/or if you are going to become a Dharma teacher. Otherwise ordinary ‘citizens’ study Lam Rim and ground your understanding of Dharma strongly BEFORE ANY [...]

I am very happy for this blog post…do take a read. I like anything that creates harmony and understanding. Every year, the United Peace Federation (in Kuala Lumpur) organizes a yearly celebration called the “World Interfaith Harmony Week”. This celebration exists due to the kind initiative of King Abdullah II of Jordan… he pushed for the resolution to be passed in the United Nations General Assembly in 2010. Now, there are 33 other countries who participates in this celebration all over the world. Liaison David Lai was invited as he is a very good English speaker. He often gets invited for talks now (See David speaking here re Bodhisattva vows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaB_fZL4uB4 ). Along with David went Pastor Susan and a few Kecharians to the World Interfaith Harmony Week event. Yesterday, about 100 people attended the World Interfaith Harmony Week congregation in KL. Those who attended were all from different races, cultures and religious backgrounds… How beautiful… Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs etc all discussing about interfaith-related matters. The event began with an introduction of the celebration, followed by a screening of the video, “With One Voice”. Three panelists then spoke about their experiences of peace, how to foster it, [...]

By Lylah M. Alphonse, Senior Editor, Yahoo! Shine | Pets Are pets really safe when they fly?More pets died on Delta flights last year than on any other airline, a government report reveals. But a closer look at the records shows that the pets’ owners may have been as much to blame as the airline. The report, issued each year by the U.S. Department of Transportation, shows that 19 of the 35 air-travel-related pet deaths in 2011 took place in the baggage holds of Delta planes, up from 16 in 2010. Five pets were also injured on Delta last year, more than on any other airline. “The loss of any pet is unacceptable to us,” Delta spokesman Anthony Black told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “We are working to improve the processes and procedures to ensure that every pet arrives safely at its destination.” Delta pointed out that it transports more pets than many other airlines (some, like Southwest and AirTran, don’t allow pets to travel in the cargo hold at all), and that less than 0.2 percent of pets that fly Delta have been injured or killed. Delta representatives denied that the pets had been mishandled, and detailed [...]

Dear SP, I rejoice in your identifying a weakness/selectiveness in Malaysians in general and our members in particular who should strike a better balance of acquiring/studying Dharma knowledge while engaging in action dharma; by not treating them as mutually exclusive. The Shanghai group paid RMB 1500 to listen to a few days of talk, some traveling very far and braving wintry conditions to attend with much enthusiasm. Our Dharma classes in Kechara are free and planned first and foremost to benefit our own members. As it is based on our Kechara lineage practices, taught within our own HQ, members receive the complete learning package together with direct blessings and teachings from Rinpoche presented in relational modern day explanations and so accessible via just a click of a button… Such well balanced teachings are not easy to find in Malaysia or anywhere else. However, many members don’t value this opportunity and do not attend classes or pujas regularly even if it is right at their doorstep. Without knowledge through self study or attending classes our inputs in *forum will not be treated with respect. We will not be able to nurture newbies/people we meet into the spiritual path if what we [...]
