My father is a ex-monk from Tibet. My mother is Princess Dewa from Xinjiang who is a direct line from Genghis Khan. I was born in Taiwan, grew up in the States and returned to Gaden in India in 1987. Had the great honour to be ordained by HH Dalai Lama and to meet my root guru HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. Now I reside in Malaysia as spiritual advisor to Kechara House and its thirteen departments.

I was on Facebook the other day and noticed a sharing by Susie Gugajew-Carton. Thank you so much Susie! I didn’t pay much attention at first as the description of this video was very abbreviated so I didn’t understand at first. But there was nothing else on Facebook that caught my eye, so I thought just take a look at the video. To my surprise, the video clip had me meeting His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1987!!! I didn’t even know such a video existed, but I am glad it does. It brought back so many holy and beautiful memories. What a nice surprise!! The video was in Washington, New Jersey. Washington is in the North of New Jersey and it’s the tail end of the Appalachian Mountains. Beautiful place. The Mongolian Geshe Wangyal established a wonderful dharma centre on one of the mountains there and invited His Holiness to visit, give dharma talk and blessings. All the Kalmuck Mongols (1,000 approximately) rented buses from the tri-state area (New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia) to have audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I was living in Los Angeles (Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen’s dharma centre) at the time. I flew [...]

The other night I was with Paris, David and a few others and I gave them a talk on how when we have something now, we don’t have it later, but the imprints to desire for it are still there creating alot of trouble for us continuously. How does that work? What are the karmic mechanics behind it? Why is it like that?? Well I gave the explanation then asked Paris and David to write it out on their blog so I don’t have to write it..heheehe.. So Paris did. I read through it and she has captured the essence and meaning of my talk VERY WELL. Everyone has to please read it…it will help you.. Read what I explained for the few of them present with me..I get in moods to explain things and this was one of them..Paris captured it brilliantly with her delicious writing. Please let me know what you understood from this. Name the main point I am making and give your own example of how you understood it please.
Dear friends, I was instructed by one of my teachers years ago to do a book on my biography. I didn’t want to do it. I thought that my life was nothing exceptional at all. My teacher insisted. I couldn’t say “no” anymore although I am kind of embarrassed to talk about my life. Hence the Bio Team was born. Apart from talking about myself, I thought it would be good for my students to research my background, meet the people I grew up with, see where I lived, my school, friends, environment and all. It would make the future biographical book much more interesting and real I thought. So many of my wonderful hardworking people travelled to Tibet, Xianjiang, Taiwan, India, and USA to research my background. To interview people who knew me or I grew up with. Some of these people I have not seen in over 30 years!!! They met up with my childhood friends, relatives, neighbours and others. They have compiled so much information and lots of video footage of the interviews which we will release in time to share. But here’s one for a start. An interview with a life long friend of mine whose [...]

Dear everyone, students, members and friends, I have been thinking of this for quite a while, and from all aspects. An initiation whether it is lower tantra or higher tantra, specifically plants the seed of enlightenment in the disciple’s mind-stream, so that when they do their practice, hold on to their vows, and keep on to their samaya, it will actualize its seeds in this or future lives. Actualize means to obtain the qualities of the deity of which they are being initiated into. Therefore, I would say 99% of the people are not ready for something like that, because for actual initiation, for actual initiate, for the actual initiation to be received by the initiate, one needs very strong guru devotion, and the guru devotion must be that, whatever the Lama or Guru tells you to do, you actually do it with no excuses, with no ramifications, and no justifications, or not escaping and you do it, and not only you do it because you have been told, you do it happily, because you trust and you believe that the Lama is giving you something to benefit you. And that’s one. And the second thing is that [...]

Date: Fri, 11 May 2012 21:28:26 +0800Subject: A new journey begins…. Dearest Rinpoche, I have just tendered my resignation in my company yesterday and will be joining *eDiv in June after serving one month’s notice. My HR, bosses and colleagues are all shocked to learn about the news as I have been performing and doing well there. Reading through Rinpoche’s SMS today, it really said out what I have in mind. I want to be part of something big and with good results. Since the meeting with Rinpoche early of the year, be full time is always in my mind. Due to family commitment earlier, I did not get to do full time immediately. I am grateful to Rinpoche, Beng Kooi, DM, eDiv and Kechara that give me this chance to do Dharma work. Lew is also very supportive to me too. My dream has come true! Although there is unknown as the girls are young and it is a stretch for me to handle the sales part, I rather work hard for it NOW when I have the chance, together with you and all the committed members to build it up rather than end up nowhere later. There [...]

Dear friends, I received a message from my assistant that the international magazine Esquire wanted to interview me… I said ok… the time was set and they came over. The interviewer was a pleasant, intelligent and nice young man. I enjoyed the interview. Well here it is. Thanks to everyone involved. Tsem Rinpoche ESQUIRE (Malaysia), May 2012, pg. 90-91 In our May Meaning of Life Issue, we sit down for an interview with one of the country’s most avant-garde spiritual leaders. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche is a lama who founded the Buddhist organisation Kechara, and can count living on the streets, being scouted for acting roles, and modelling as just some of the more unusual parts of his past. So it’s no surprise we wanted to sit down with him, and hear his thoughts on Madonna, Steven Seagal, and his role as a spiritual leader. We have included special soundbites from our interview, so listen away! This is the online version, click on this link to read the full article: http://www.esquire.my/People/What-Ive-Learned/article/Tsem-Tulku-Rinpoche Here are seven choice quotes (In case the link not working, this is duplicated here): I really didn’t want to be a monk [...]

Dear blog friends, You must watch this video and be totally flabbergasted, amazed and inspired. I guess with anything in life you have to want it bad enough by remembering the benefits. What do you have to lose if you go all the way. But you have everything to lose if you don’t give it your all. Great way to start your day and maybe your life again….Tsem Rinpoche ************** The man who was featured in the video is Mr. Arthur Boorman. When American paratrooper Arthur Boorman returned home injured from the Gulf War, doctors told him he’d never walk unassisted again. One too many jumps led to chronic back and knee problems making his military workout a thing of the past. The military should really provide help, rehabilitation for their ex servicemen. For 15 years, Boorman believed them. Consequently, his weight ballooned to 297 lbs at 5’8′. But, at 47 years old, the disheartened veteran discovered yoga in a newspaper article about DDP yoga. As demonstrated in this incredible YouTube video, the non-impact yoga workout helped Boorman shed 140 lbs in 10 months. Yoga isn’t just an excellent weight-loss therapy for troops returning home injured. [...]
