55ft Snake
Below is a photograph of a 55ft (16.2 meter) snake found in China! So far, this is the only article about this incident that is available online. There aren’t many people who reported the story..However, a man died from shock upon seeing the snake…
Do take a read. Imagine seeing a snake the length of 8 six-feet tall men stacked one on top of the other!

This photograph purporting to show a 55ft snake found in a forest in China has become an internet sensation. It was originally posted in a thread on the website of the People’s Daily, the official Communist Party newspaper in China.
The thread claimed the snake was one of two enormous boas found by workers clearing forest for a new road outside Guping city, Jiangxi province. They apparently woke up the sleeping snakes during attempts to bulldoze a huge mound of earth.
“On the third dig, the operator found there was blood amongst the soil, and with a further dig, a dying snake appeared,” said the post.
“By the time the workers came back, the wounded boa had died, while the other snake had disappeared. The bulldozer operator was so sick that he couldn’t even stand up.”
The post claimed that the digger driver was so traumatised that he suffered a heart attack on his way to hospital and later died.
The dead snake was 55ft (16.7m) long, weighed 300kg and was estimated to be 140 years old, according to the post.

Dear Rinpoche,
It took me a minute to shake myself from glaring at the snake with my mouth open to be able to write!
I remember when I was at school, a friend of mine showed me his pet garden snake when I visited him. It couldn’t have been any longer than 30cm and I made up my mind then not to visit his house again…
I can understand why the driver was in such shock. It’s awesome enough to see this snake in a photograph, thousands of miles away from where it was taken…I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to actually be up close and personal with the snake.
Recently, a friend sent me a video on forest monks with the message, “This looks so peaceful – maybe you’ll end up like one of these monks!” I replied: “I very much doubt it – not with all those spiders, snakes and other insects roaming around!!”
So yes, if even small, harmless spiders in the UK freak me out (I never kill them though – I just let them have the shower and come back LONG after they’ve finished haha), there’s no way I would have remained composed at the sight of the massive snake.
I’m sure my heartbeat has risen just from writing this comment…
Kind regards,
Sandy
This is interesting! 140 years! in Chinese paranormal belief, any animal that has lived for more than 100 years will become a spirit/fairy of its kind. The Chinese word for this class of beings is jing — essence as it is believed that such animals obtain abnormal longevity due to absorbing the vital energy of other beings, plants, the sun and moon, environment, and also from humans.
Legend has it that every 100 years, lighting from heaven will attempt to strike them and if they survive, they become older, wiser and more powerful. Some eventually graduate to become gods, while others become extremely powerful demons, consuming lesser spirits and even humans.
They’re prominently featured in Journey to the West, Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, and various other stories about Chinese mythology.
From the looks of it, this snake might have been one of those…killed after 140 years of practice…but to actually witness an animal who outlives most of its kind by a mile made me realize that the legend may have some truth to it. Maybe this snake has already developed supernatural powers…but made a miscalculation and paid for it with its life..
oh i forgot to add that these class of beings are often regarded as negative and are classified as spirits even though they possess an actual body as what they have is not natural. They are said to develop incredible supernatural powers such as the ability to take on a human form, fly, clairvoyance etc. In some cases, they take over the role as the land deity as they are the most powerful spirit in the area…which may be what these 2 snakes in the article may be…
im just too fascinated and somewhat excited of the possibility of them..hehe
This snake is most unusually long! For some reason, we get the most unusual natural features in China. Its vastness in terms of breadth and covering of various topographical and ecologically environments may be a reason why there is such a diverse amount of natural features. From the spectacular limestone mountains to the tropical forests, there is really a lot in between. This unusually lengthy snake is just one of them.
This unusually long snake could also be a naga! One of the animal spirits that inhabit greater or smaller bodies of water. They usually appear as large snakes or frogs in nature and have unusual abilities to control sickness and the weather. They are are highly intelligent like a humans and each have their own characters that shaped by the hundreds and thousands of years of their lifespan. They particularly partial to Buddhas and in particularly Chenrezig or Kuan Yin.
This snake is really quite amazing. Both its length and age are unmatchable by other snake. I guess that the world is not fully discovered yet. I noticed that most funny or weird stuff comes from either Japan or China. Maybe it is a body of a spirit in the woods. Just wonderin’. I wonder where the other snake went. Maybe it went to tell every other snake about its friend’s death.
Just goes to show you there is so much more of this world that is left unexplored. Even phenomena we can see, study and understand like snakes can surprise us over and over again…so what about the phenomena that we don’t understand? And phenomena we cannot see? Dare we be arrogant enough to dismiss phenomena we cannot currently explain, like UFOs and cryptids and other paranormal activity, simply because we cannot explain it?
Two lives lost all because of the exploitation of nature…
It’s probably a new subspecies of Boa that has been undiscovered until now. I hope they will not continue destroying the forest coz it’s probably the only habitat that this species could survive in…
But yeah… it is amazing. I thought a snake as huge as this would only appear in movies… fiction and imagined up by people. I guess, the plane of existance is really vast, and whatever that our minds are capable of imagining or creating is already in existance somewhere.
