A lawyer dog?

May 15, 2012 | Views: 694

Dear friends,

Yesterday, a student sent me an article that’s interesting in many ways… a dog was sentenced to death as he was believed to be the reincarnation of a particular lawyer! They feel it befits this lawyer who did not do his job honestly reincarnating as a dog.

In Jerusalem, a large dog was seen entering the Monetary Affairs Court located within an ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood. The dog starting causing a havoc by scaring visitors away. At that point, one of the court judges court remembered something:

[A] famous secular lawyer who insulted the court was cursed by the panel of judges, who wished that his spirit would move on to the body of a dog… The lawyer passed away several years ago.”

The judge was so certain that the dog who caused havoc is the lawyer… that he got condemned the dog to death by stoning!

Reincarnation forms the basis of Buddhism and Hinduism, but there are many other sects within various major religions out there who believes in reincarnation too. Do you think the lawyer came back as a dog??

Dog Believed to Be Reincarnation of Lawyer Sentenced to Death by Stoning

A rabbinical court in Jerusalem recently sentenced a wandering dog to death by stoning, after they decided he was the reincarnation of a lawyer who offended the judges 20 years ago.

A few weeks ago, a large dog entered the Monetary Affairs Court, near the ultra orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim, scaring away visitors and refusing to leave, even after people tried to drive him away. One of the court’s judges remembered something that occurred 20 years ago – a secular lawyer who had offended the judges was cursed by them to reincarnate in the body of a dog (considered an impure animal by Halacha).

The lawyer in question passed away years ago, but one of the still-offended judges sentenced the poor dog to death by stoning, and ordered the task be carried out by the neighborhood’s children. Either the dog sensed the imminent danger and fled, or it was rescued by an animal lover, what’s important is he managed to escape before the sentence could be carried out.

The head of the Jerusalem court denied that the judges asked for the dog to be stoned to death, but one of its managers confirmed the story for Jewish paper Yedioth Ahronoth. “It was ordered by the rabbis because of the grief he had caused the court,” he said. “They didn’t issue an official ruling, but ordered the children outside to throw stones at him. They didn’t think of it as cruelty to animals, but as an appropriate way to ‘get back at’ the spirit which entered the poor dog.”

I feel really sad for this dog. To be reborn in lower realm already and yet need to be tortured and stoned to death for a very ridiculous reason. And i feel speechless on the still-offended judges that can still remember the incident which happened 20 years back and link it back to a dog. I wonder why is the judge still holding on to what has happened after so long and how come he still can’t let go. What is the very big deal that he cant forgive and move on. What value he hold to have senteced the dog to be stoned til death by children some more. This is very cruel. I feel sad for the children as well because they are the future and this action certainly has impacted them. Maybe to them this action is right and i really cant imagine what will happened when they grow up with this kinda brought up. Im sure there must be something that can be done to plant better value and moral in these children. Sad sad..

Yes, the lawyer in question may have reincarnated as the dog, but how can a court of law make decisions based on assumptions with no concrete evidence and just the memory of one person? How can a group of human beings and in this case supposedly learned ones too stoop so low as to punish another being who does not have the capacity to defend for himself? What kind of a judiciary system is this???

  3. Doreen on May 15, 2012 at 10:53 am

If the judge believes that is a reincarnation of the lawyer that offended him, he should treat him better,or even take care of the dog, as to stop the cycle of karma. Why ordered another karma to go around? I guess there is believe of reincanation, but there is no knowledge of karma. Even if it is not that lawyer that reincarnate as dog, they should not treat another being by stoning the helpless dog. The dog intention or message of scaring and barking could be misunderstood. It is fortunate the dog escaped!

More an unforgivable and unforgetable prejuice imbedded in the revengeful and sick minds of the presiding judges. As in law, how can this be so simply believed and accepted by other judges when no evidences or proof could be established that this dog is a reincarnation of the offending lawyer, unless they are high level rabbis, Buddha or God to know. What a comedy of error that can be so simply accepted by a court of Law to decide on the fate of life of a ‘being’ based such assumption! Thanks to its perhaps good karmic fate that the lucky dog managed to escape.

It just astounds me how some people can be so cruel and treat animals without any feeling or consideration. It sickens me to think how easy it is for them to take matters into their own hands and decide the fate of this poor dog.

Heartless sadistic actions needs to stop, if we want to instill a sense of responsibility, with kindness and compassion into our children or the future generations to come!

  6. freon on May 15, 2012 at 5:59 pm

Interesting! How they know the dog is the lawyer, why so sure? What kind of karma that this poor dog had. At first, I think this news is really funny. But, on second thought it is not funny at all. Karma is something really follow us like shadow. People around us is relate to us life after life. Either your enemies this life, your lover, relatives, friends, who know how we connect with them past life. If i want a good friends , good people around me next rebirth, this mean this rebirth i have to be more mindful towards people. May i not harm people, animals but be more beneficial to them.

  7. Girlie on May 15, 2012 at 8:03 pm

Poor dog. How did anyone of them verify that indeed the dog was a reincarnation of that said person? They could be using that as an excuse as dogs are considered by them to be impure.

  8. David Loh on May 15, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Its’ like adding insult to injury. The lawyer reborn as a dog. Does he not served his penance? The human race never cease to surprise. We are such a vindictive lot! Our debts goes beyond death!

But, in this case how does the judges know that the dog is indeed a reincarnation of the lawyer in question? Are they oracles themselves? Or they just simply felt bad for having laid a curse on the lawyer in question and thinks that the lawyer in question has come back to take revenge on them? Killing the enemy one lifetime is not enough; they have to eradicate the threat as many lifetime as possible! How shallow can they get?!

Well, at least they believe reincarnation exists.

  9. Low ksjc on May 15, 2012 at 11:38 pm

The Judge who pass such a sentence on a defenceless creature should not be given the authority to pass judgement on human ,as he show no compassion for the living and assumption without base. His judgement is base on hate and wrong views.By ordering innocent children to carry out the sentence,he is encouraging hate and violence at a young age.In the future ,when the children grow up,they would assume that violence is the right way to get even and not by patience and forgiving to sett-al any issue.

If it is true that the Lawyer did reincarnate into a dog then sentence had been served ,there is no need to repeat sentence unless the judge felt guilty and is afraid that the dog is back for revenge!!!

  10. William C on May 16, 2012 at 12:47 am

Poor dog! Even if thw dog is the reincarnation of the lawyer, it would not even remember? How sure is the judge that the dog is the lawyer? It is just based on the judge? It is just cruelty to animals because they cannot defend themself.

Does this mean that jews also believe in reincarnation? Interesting.

  11. Takuan on May 16, 2012 at 2:03 am

Reincarnation is in Sufism as well. From what I’ve learned, the theory existed in the early schools of Sufi thought before it was influenced by Buddhism and Hinduism! It’s so interesting that so many schools of thought have such similar belief systems!

I also feel bad for the dog. Even if it was the reincarnation of a cheeky lawyer, there’s no reason to kill it. If they had killed the dog, they would have to deal with the effect of their causation to an equal or greater degree. I’m glad that they weren’t allowed to kill it for both theirs and the dogs sake!

  12. justin cheah on May 16, 2012 at 2:07 am

This judgement is completely unbelievable! How can someone like this judge (with due respect to him) can determine that the dog is the reincarnation of the lawyer?? Does he has clairvoyance? I certainly doubt so as i believe for a person who can give such a harsh punishment to a dog can never be clairvoyant.

i feel for the kids too if the punishment were able to be carried out as they will get the message from the adults that mistreating animals is a correct act which is totally wrong!

  13. wei theng on May 16, 2012 at 2:49 am

This is so cruel! Whether the dog is the reincarnated lawyer or not, the judge has no right to kill him!

Besides, I can see that the judge are so unhappy as he has been holding on grouches for so many years. If he does not let go and forgive, he would never happy. Isn’t it a lose-lose situation?

  14. Peter on May 16, 2012 at 3:04 am

Not everything/phenomena – good or bad – can be attributed to karma. Most are just the nature of life. As Buddhist, we should not use karma to scare others into forcing them into Dharma practice nor pretend we can save others as human beings. That was never a Buddhist preaching.

  15. lewkwanleng on May 16, 2012 at 4:30 am

I can’t say if the person actually reincarnate as dog. It is glad to hear that the head of the Jerusalem court denied the judge’s intention to kill the dog. What kind of proof he had to show it is the correct reincarnation?

Even if it is the correct reincarnation, how can he be so cruel??

  16. Li Kim on May 16, 2012 at 5:11 am

This is very interesting and thought provoking. Firstly it is sad that from human form as a lawyer, to a dog which is a lower realm. This makes me think that whatever he did was really bad in his previous human life and not only one incident of upsetting the judges, to return as a dog this life. Then because of that wrong doing, the dog is subject to stoning. This really makes me reflect on karma and reincarnation. There is no time limit and discretion for karma and life times.

The “verdict” to stone the dog does show how unforgiving people can be. If they had compassion, they would already know that being a dog now is suffering enough, and just let go and move on instead of stoning the dog. This is the part of human cruelty which brings so much suffering in this world. To be able to say “Kill, Die” with no further contemplation is horrid. Did theses judges not stop to think, they could be the next dog?

  17. Lim Han Nee on May 16, 2012 at 7:53 am

A court of law(albeit a rabbinical court) sentenced a dog, who had been creating some disturbance in a court area, to be stoned to death based on a surmise that he was the reincarnation of a lawyer (who over 20 years ago had offended and pained the judges and because of that had been cursed to be reborn as a dog)!

How can any court just pass judgement on the basis of mere assumptions? Also what manner of sentence is this? To have children in the neighborhood stone him to death? 2 wrongs to redress 1 wrong? The lawyer(the supposed previous incarnation of the dog) offended the judges. Shouldn’t these judges be the ones to stone the dog?Why ask innocent children to bloody their hands with an act of violent killing? Why get them to collect negative karma. No proper ‘trial’ or ‘hearing’ was conducted. So the sentence of stoning had no valid basis. Hence it would have been more an act of revenge by the judges who had been hurt by the lawyer. No valid proof of dog being a reincarnation of the ‘sinning’ lawyer. So this would have been murder!

Thank goodness the dog was saved and rescued on time! To me,the moral of the story is that a belief in reincarnation must go hand in hand with a belief in Karma(the Universal Law of Cause and Effect)that is played out over many lifetimes.

  18. Vincent Cheng on May 16, 2012 at 3:29 pm

So please remember to do only good deeds! Haha people will remember bad deeds for eternity!

I’m thinking whether in this life that someone would come up to me and say, “Your previous life owes me 1 million dollars and I’m going to kill you for that.” Hahaha.

    Run doggie! Run Lawyer Doggie!

  19. Choi Kim Yok on May 16, 2012 at 5:27 pm

It’s good to know there are others who believe in reincarnation but in this case, where is the proof that this dog is the reincarnation of the lawyer? It was only based on the recollection of one of the judges. I’m glad the dog escaped but I’m worried about the way people treat animals in that place.

This absolutely heart breaking to read that this could actually happen in today’s world… do we ever progress?

  21. Siong Woan on May 16, 2012 at 11:04 pm

What kind of judge orders a dog to be killed BY CHILDREN on the streets !!! How wrong can this be ? I am speechless at the stupidity of the still-offended judge who obviously could not let go of his attachment of anger towards the demised lawyer.

The law of course n effect will bring these two beings closed to each others in their future lives, most likely the relationship would not pleasant.

  22. Thierry Janssens on May 17, 2012 at 11:05 am

It is not the first time that I hear of reincarnation in Judaism.
I am certainly not a specialist in the religions of the Book, but it seems to me that two facts in the religions of the book do go along with reincarnation:
1: heaven or hell may only happen if the soul re-incarnates into new aggregates
2: final day judgment may only happen if the soul “revives” into new aggregates.

This, from a Buddhist view is called reincarnation.

In Buddhism, there is also heaven and hell.
Many many different types of heaven, from the one where people have air-conditioning-cars-planes-mobile phones to the one where there is no more form-body to worry about. there are also heavens that are perfect places to improve our spiritual habits and build up a spiritual mind (which is, I think, more likely what Heaven means for a Christian or a Jew for example, and that is called Pure Land in some forms of Buddhism).
Many many different types of hell, many types of cold helles, many types of hot hells, many types of mental hells, etc…

So, already, on these aspects, Buddhism and other religions are imputing different names or concepts on the same thing, on the same truth.

    The differences are there though:
    - in Buddhism, hell or heaven is not a permanent post, it will also pass, even if in some cases it can last for a ridiculously long time;
    - there is no “forgiveness” or “salvation” to be gained from a higher being that can grant us a heaven seat eventually and permanently, Buddhism says that our actions and the mind behind them determinate where in “hell” or “heaven” we get propelled and with what type of aggregates (a body, a mind, habits, a consciousness and feelings);
    - from a human body, we can also get propelled into the aggregates of an animal (and on this aspect, this story then validates that possibility from a Judaic point of view), or we can get the conditions to become a ghost (again not permanently);
    - as a Buddhist, there is only one being responsible for how I experience existence, now, in the past and in the future, that being is what I make of me. Call it karma to relate to Buddhist terms.

Along this, thus, there are no innocent people anywhere, we own every horrible thing that happens to us, we are responsible for them. And every nice thing too.

This, though, is not to be twisted like this: “ok, if I hurt you, it’s because you have the karma to be hurt, so it’s your fault, not mine”. No. Why? Like this:

    1. Because we always have a choice, we can “hurt back” (and really only a Buddha may have the karma not to be hurt, ok!) or we can forgive, we can understand, we can help, we can pull the other being UP. Instead of stoning the dog, i can find a way that this dog can help the Monetary Affairs Court, maybe he could have a little house in the compound and help keeping the place safe?

    2. When I “hurt back”, when I throw stones at this dog, I create causes to suffer the same experience and even worse as it is said that the karma gets bigger with time.

    3. When I retaliate, when I take revenge, when I throw stones at this dog, the dog’ resentment against me, against these people in the Monetary Affairs Court only gets bigger, and so I make my problem bigger instead of making it smaller.

I wish the children will not throw stones at this dog, but instead would maybe adopt the dog or something. I don’t know if Jews do adopt pet dogs, but there are many more options to deal with a dog, and especially if the dog is seen as the reincarnation of a difficult person. Throwing stones or killing the dog, I believe, will only make things worse and more difficult to resolve in the future.

  23. Bryan on May 17, 2012 at 12:33 pm

This is very sad and cruel. What crime that this poor dog has done, and he “deserved” to receive this death sentence by stoning ? Is he a “rapist” or does he killed? This poor dog deserve his death sentence just because he refuse to leave the court ? This is so ridiculous.
This is very clear sign that human is using their position or their power to do something that hurt other. Even if this dog is really the reincarnation of the lawyer, he already received his punishment which is turn into a dog. Why the court can add more sentences to him after some many years later?
The one thing I’m really angry after reading this article is, how can the court by using the name of Justice and requested the kids to do this ? What a bad influence for them. Most of the religion teaches us to be compassion and share our love to others, why the court is using the name of the GOD but doing something against HIS will ? Is this real justice or is this plainly someone to using the name of GOD and justice to do whatever they like to harm others?

  24. mayy on May 17, 2012 at 12:46 pm

Whether the dog is the reincarnated lawyer or not …how inhuman act of the judge to order the dog to be stoned to death by CHILDREN on the streets! What message is the judge giving out or teaching the children to act inhuman…where is the humanity?

Secondly, how can the judge whom was offended by the errant lawyer 20 years ago qualifies that the dog is the reincarnated errant lawyer? How ridiculous?

Thirdly, the dog cannot even defend himself! How unfair!

  25. nicholas on May 17, 2012 at 4:17 pm

The lawyer in question could be reincarnated becoming the dog but how can the judges sentenced the dog in such a cruel way and get the children to carry out, it is the worst thing ever to educate the childrens.

Being reborn in the animal realm is really in a very difficult situation. They are helpless and can’t fight for themselves. We must help these helpless animals to lessen their suffering and learn from this to not waste our time and learn and practice Dharma for future good rebirth.

What doesn’t make sense to me about this whole incident: if curses and actions have actual consequences (the person reincarnating as a dog), then doesn’t stoning a dog also have consequences?

How do they know the dog is the reincarnation of the lawyer who passed away years ago? It’s baseless, one of the still offended judges can’t forgive and let go of his anger towards the lawyer and wanted to take revenge.Poor dog but luckily he managed to escape the punishment.

We tend to pity someone or something in its present predicament but why didn’t we pity that someone before he/she enacted the deeds that would cause he/she to take a lower rebirth? It’s true most of us do not have the wisdom nor compassion to be able to. If so, that’s precisely we depend on a spiritual teacher who has the enlightened qualities to mold us from a person who was about to do all the negative actions into a transformed person with positive thoughts and actions. But most of us refused the methods leading to positive changes and split because we believe there are too much effort required for positive changes and we are prefer being comfortable in our comfort zone. Or so we think.

Whatever the previous life lawyer did has passed. I always wonder how can someone hold a grudge so long. Its rather sad to know that the judge wanted the dog dead because of something that has passed so long. Whatever it is, nobody have the right to take another life. Well, in a way the dog has good karma to have an animal lover save him. Yedioth said it is a way to get back at the spirit which entered the dog, but didn’t they say its a reincarnation?

Instead of stoning the dog to death, there are many effective ways to take away the dog to other place. Even if this is a true reincarnation of the previous lawyer who becomes a dog now, he is already serving for his own bad karma and reborn as an animal. Taking revenge on someone due to the past problem is not benefiting anyone.

  35. Melissa on Jun 2, 2012 at 6:07 pm

What a silly thing to do. How certain are they to even assume that this is the reincarnation of the lawyer, I believe that it is just plain insanity. To even go to the extent of stoning the dog to death is just delirious. I mean first of all the poor dog wouldn’t even remember it’s past life reincarnation as a lawyer, it’s sufferings would be for nothing. It’s cruelty beyond relief! Secondly, why would they even incriminate and polluting the poor innocent minds of the children to hurt such a poor creature that is held in the lower realm by force from the manifestation of his/her accumulated past life’s karma.

The world is full of strange things , strange people and hence strange values and beliefs. But that may not be so from their side. I don’t see this event as ridiculous or wrong. If that is the system of justice that the people of the particular region wants that is their choice. Those who abhor the death penalty may look at countries who have it in their judicial system as inhumane or whatever. Until all of us have our seeds of harmfulness removed, we will need the imperfect worldly systems of justice and punishment to restrain and deter us from causing problems to each other and society.

  39. bengkooi on Jun 22, 2012 at 6:11 am

This is the first time I’ve heard that Jews believe in reincarnation. I thought that only Buddhists and Hindus do. So I did a little Googling, and it proved to be true (see below). What I found ridiculous, however, is that the dog was condemned to stoning, just because of the actions of his previous life. I mean, c’mon he’s already a dog. He won’t remember what happened when he was human. So what is the point of punishing him? It just creates more fear and suffering to an innocent dog. At least the dog escaped, and I hope the rabbis will examine their actions closely, and realise it wasnt the right thing to do.

(Extracted from: http://www.jewfaq.org/olamhaba.htm) “Traditional Judaism firmly believes that death is not the end of human existence. However, because Judaism is primarily focused on life here and now rather than on the afterlife, Judaism does not have much dogma about the afterlife, and leaves a great deal of room for personal opinion. It is possible for an Orthodox Jew to believe that the souls of the righteous dead go to a place similar to the Christian heaven, or that they are reincarnated through many lifetimes, or that they simply wait until the coming of the messiah, when they will be resurrected.”

  41. Sheryl KH (JB) on Jun 27, 2012 at 2:53 pm

Reincarnation is a proven, but to say something out of pure hatred or resemblance or past memories can be such a terrible act.

Culture is invisible, and yet it is something that can exert strong control on its own people. And some countries hold cultures that can be so unacceptable and people within these entities can only live with it.

I am glad that the dog has run away. To be stoned to death can be such a terrible scece.

  43. judy.lam@kechara.com on Aug 29, 2012 at 1:06 pm

The judge that sentences the dog to death is not fit to be judge. It is the adults who are selfish and hipocrates to have ordered the children to stone the dog to death. We are no less superior than a dog who deserve to live too. It is too late to say who is right and wrong. How lucky we are to have the realization that these thoughts and actions are wrong.

This is another prove that the belief of reincarnation is not only adapted by the Hindus or Buddhists. Whether they say the spirit possessed the poor dog or the lawyer reincarnated back and became the dog, the fact which Judaism actually believes in reincarnation is still the truth.

But the court didn’t turned this belief into something kind and compassion. Why stone at the poor dog? This poor dog no matter who it is, it brings no harm to people. And the court even asked children to throw stone at this poor dog. The children learn in this violent way, how they could grow up to become a forgiving and loving people? How the society could be at peace and harmony if people instill the value of violent?

Glad that the dog managed to escape before the sentence could be carried out…

  47. sarahyap on Feb 6, 2013 at 8:11 pm

Interesting… recently we learnt that certain sects within Judaism do believe in reincarnation. That’s great… but if we hold on our grudge toward the other person into his next life, that is very very detrimental. (I’m not saying that I believe the dog is the lawyer, but I’m speaking in context that it is what the judge believed)

Maybe it is for this very reason that regular people cannot recall their past lives because so much anger and hate will be carried forward to the next life.

But about this story… how can a judge, release a order for something without any concrete proof? What type of system is this? It is so ridiculous that, if I don’t feel angry towards this pitiful judge who has been living with anger for 20 years and is still angry at a person who has died a few years ago… I’d say I feel sorry for him to be so narrow minded… And due to his narrow mindedness, he ordered the village children to do the stoning… what type of society teaches their children to be cruel to animals or carry out an act of violence towards a living being? Gosh… I’m speechless…

  48. beatrix ooi on Feb 6, 2013 at 9:13 pm

I feel so sorry for him. Never do something that’s bad and hurt others. What goes around, comes around. When it comes to karma, it’s no joke. But the only thing I do not understand is, how could the judge be so sure that the dog is the lawyer? Or he is just trying to prove himself right…

  49. Jutika Lam on Feb 16, 2013 at 11:49 pm

What??? How can a lawyer simple say a wondering dog is a lawyer??? Where is the proof, monk or High Lama or priest Rabbi to say that dog is confirmed a rebirth of a lawyer?

I feel so angry that a wondering dog was killed without any proof that his previous life was a lawyer….. luckily he was not killed.

If this innocent dog was killed it would have been a very sad and stupid thing to do as well as a very bad thing to do to kill an innocent dog with no solid proof he is a lawyer.

Pheww… So happy the dog did not get killed and also that this dog had a second chance to live his life to the fullest…. Luckily this dog had the good karma to override his bad karma to survive.

  50. jennifer on Feb 24, 2013 at 3:33 pm

This is one of the most ridiculous story that i have ever come across!
What has this world become ??

I feel very sorry for the poor doggie, but i feel pity for the judge who played judge , jury and (almost) executioner from his inability to let go of the past. Holding on a grudge for 20 years, he and his fellow judges cursed the lawyer at that time and now decides that the lawyer has reincarnated into the dog ! How absolutely ludicrous !!! What sort of example is he setting for the townsmen and the children ??

Thank the Buddhas that the doggie escaped and is rescued by an animal lover.

Being one of the closer student around Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, i do experience a lot of miracles, from someone who are very sick got heal or rain stop at certain moment that is urgent, some may think it’s all coincidence, let me tell you a real truth story that happened an hour ago. H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, like to rescue animals such as fishes, dogs, birds and etc. In our new Kechara Forest Retreat land, Rinpoche have kindly requested one of the liaison Beng Kooi to build a fish pond for all the fishes that Rinpoche rescued. The contractors that we got in to build the fish pond was slow and delay a few deadline that they gave. Just 2 days ago, Rinpoche instructed the fish pond project to be call off and all workers should leave the fish pond site as soon as possible. While we still thinking why Rinpoche cancel this project as it’s one of Rinpoche wishes to build a very comfortable place for fishes. Something happened an hour ago, there was a big bang came from the fish pond site, the whole artificial waterfall wall collapse without people go near it. This artificial waterfall wall was made out of cement, wire mesh, metal bar and etc, it weigh easily 200-300 Kgs. Luckily Rinpoche have giving us warming do not go near this waterfall 2 days ago, and should stop all construction wall, just imagine the workers are still working when the waterfall fall, some people might died or serious injury now. Due to humility Rinpoche will not say a word or show his premonitions power, this happened many many times. Rinpoche just save a few life without them knowing it. A lot of people will think why such horrible thing can happened in a holy land like Kechara Forest Retreat, a Buddhist site should always safe from all accident, but we believe if a place that will be use to benefiting thousands, a lot of obstacles will appear, I will take this artificial waterfall accident as part of clearing our negative karma, may all the negative karma from all of us be cleared. It’s glad that this happened before we move any fishes into this pond. In Tibetan culture, it’s an auspicious omen which represent bad obstacles have been cleared, and all our project will grow very smoothly later. It’s very important we follow our lama’s instruction/advice, even though sometime we might not understand it truly, because a real lama will never do anything which is not beneficial.

For tsemtulku – My dear Rinpoche,Alex & I met you 10 years ago. Because of your precious Dharma teachings & guidance, we are able to transform ourselves. Because of your Dharma vision, we now have 14 Departments for people with different skills & interest to be involve and for us to create merits in virtuous activities. I have been a part time vegetarian for sometime. Somehow i just wasn’t able to be a full vegetarian. After watching your teaching on “Integrity, Keeping promises & Vows”, it finally hit me. It is so true that having vows are not meant to “Imprison” us but really to help us transform positively to kick away our negative habits. I realize that from young, we have been condition to think that we have to eat meat and meat is delicious and it is part of life to consume meat in our daily diet. Hence we ignore the sufferings of others in order to indulge in our own taste buds. Lately, i have develop myself into feeding strays nearby my neighbourhood and I’m compelled to help strays via Kechara Animal Sanctuary. After deep contemplation, i realize that i cannot be wanting to help KAS and yet still eating meat. The equation is just so wrong. Now i can see clearly, it makes it so much easier to be a full vegetarian. Taking the vegetarian vow is not an imprisonment but it is another level of commitment to not be the source of pain to other sentient beings. It is a choice that we make to kick away our preconception of consuming meat for a balance diet.If one is against animal cruelty, then one should practice vegetarianism. Can’t be pitching for animal rights when you are still eating them. My daughter once said to me, “Mommy, animals are our friends so we shouldn’t be eating them”. I find that so profound coming from a kid. I’m very sure my family members will not be supportive of me going vegetarian but I pray that one day they will also come to the same realization as i have.
I humbly offer to Rinpoche my vegetarian vow and may it be dedicated to Rinpoche’s long life. May it also be dedicated to my family, loved ones and friends.
I will continue to get involve in KAS activities to assist Pastor Susan.
    Thank you my dear Lama.

Most amusing is this unparalleled ingenuity of the highly inspired dramatic slogan (self-explanatory) in the cover picture of http://www.facebook.com/MBFSG?fref=ts which HHDL and all Buddhas of the past, Buddhas of the present and Buddhas yet tocome, correspondingly are bowing their heads in deferential obeisance. Are we now transported to the Age of Somnambulism??? To earthlings, the most crucial life sustaining factor is NO AIR, NO LIFE, in so far as planet Earth and basic common sense are concerned.

The Unknown

The Known and unknown are both feared,
Known is being comfortable and stagnant,
The unknown may be growth and opportunities,
One shall never know if one fears the unknown more than the known.
Who says the unknown would be worse than the known?
But then again, the unknown is sometimes worse than the known. In the end nothing is known unless we endeavour,
So go pursue all the way with the unknown,
because all unknown with familiarity becomes the known.

It's people like Paul who contributes to Kechara reaching out to many and benefitting them. When we do dharma and not see it as work, it's never a burden. Dear all, This is Paris interviewing my sister Lidshma. She mentions when I was very young the monks would have me sit with them to do the Buddhist services which was highly irregular in New Jersey. They didn't have lay people even children sit with them to do the services. So she mentions this was very unusual in a good way. My sister Lidshma here mentions my mother (Dana) would always catch me in the night in my room in the dark sitting on my bed meditating and doing mantras. I did that always and had to avoid being caught by my mother. I did it nightly. So I did it secretly and without her catching me. If she did catch me, then there would be big drama and problems depending on the mood my mom was in. My practicing dharma/meditating/praying/mantras was not allowed at all by my parents. They were fiercely against it always. My sister remembers this here. My sister lives in Texas, USA. And our bio group had gone to USA to interview my family for my bio book. This is a snippet. Aiyo so cute. I am in KD now going through some design work with Karen and Mrs.Chua is teaching Pat, Kumar, Yen Ping, Louise and Jeff English.

May they be able to learn up fast and assist Rinpoche's work!

Love,

I didnt ask andrew to work with workers, just oversee. But he doing the work himself for days now. Am filling up the pool at haven and andrew's in the pool working hard w the workers. I like when ppl swallow their ego n just do anything necessary to get the job done. Tr

The concept of taking Precepts in Buddhism is all about finding balance, applying awareness and being harmless to yourself and others. Start by practicing one precept at a time to generate positive potential this Wesak. --- Try this: Save a life.
