Am I able to do this when I come under the same circumstances? When a human is inhuman is not human, when an animal is humane enough is more than human.
Beautifully spoken words, Xiao! It is not our species, status or labels and titles that make us human – it is our compassion in action that makes us human.
Dear Rinpoche,
Happy birthday to you again. Thanks for sharing this amazing video. I’m touched by this dog, it’s very heroic and poetic. In fact in real life there are many of us worse than an animal. Some of us are cold, ignorance, selfish, and never care about others. Compassion is something larger than life, it makes us put others in front of us, and willing to take risk and challenges. Thank you for giving me this wonderful teaching first thing in the morning from this video.
Wish you well.
Dino
This is an amazing video. I am so touched by the dog’s compassion. If you look at the video carefully again, there is a car that actually instead of moving aside to avoid the dog, hits the dog!! Such a lesson to learn – i am going to share this with my friends and contacts. Put a lot of people to shame, esp those who slow down not to help at accidents (but to take down numbers for lottery), some more unscrupulous and trying to make money. It shows how degenerate the human race has and can become.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing this with us.
with folded hands,
janice
Yes the video is amazing!
And you’re right about the lottery number comment… =(
It’s really sad, coz they’re practically rejoicing over other’s misfortune…
And bide a way, the injured dog lived!!!!!!!!!!!
Most people would regard animals as inferior beings, even dogs who have for decades, shown greater love, loyalty (and often intelligence) than human beings.
An animal usually survives by having a strong instinct for self-preservation , and yet we see such selflessness in an animal. In the video we see that even an animal can have an instinct for selflessness and compassion.
Much of what i have encountered with Rinpoche’s teachings is to train and encourage us to think outwards ie for others instead of the Self. What is it that a dog can do that we human find so difficult?
Perhaps, we have surrounded ourselves with so many wordly and artificial concerns and material things that what the Compassion that rthe Buddha meant for us to have, as an instinct, is so deeply buried that we do not recognise it anymore.
We are indeed fortunate to have a Guru who highlights this in such a simple way, and so the video clip is not just another video.
That the injured dog survived, again is a reminder of how far reaching our actions can be.
Thank you Rinpoche

So inspiring!
That throws out many people theories that animals are not capable of higher emotions and feelings. They are beings without a soul or consciousness that is similar to human being’s soul or consciousness.
That theory has been used by many people to , abuse, misuse, kill, maim, eat, animal.
This must stop now!
Adopt a furry friend and you will understand that the love you put into it will be returned many-folds.
Your kitties @ home love you just as much, right?
I think all animals should be appreciated like “a non-human hero” as they like we all have the potential of a big ❤. This and other videos I´ve seen clearly proves it´s true. If everyone could see, feel and be touched by the love from an animal everyone would care and treat them as the lovely friends and non-human heroes they really are.
A very inspiring video! Most humans won’t risk their lives on a busy highway to save someone, yet this dog took that risk and saved this injured dog!
This is such a beautiful and inspiring video! Made me cry because it is so touching.
We are human when we act with kindness and compassion.
Anything less would make us worse than animals.
Yet it is amazing that some animals can rise above and become heroes.
This video is a perfect example that we are not defined by our names, labels, titles or positions in life – but rather by our actions and deeds.
Especially, inspiring selfless deeds.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video, Rinpoche.
It has certainly made my day!
Compassion truly conquers all.If dogs can show such selflessness, it would be a waste of our precious human life if we cannot do likewise.Very inspiring video. We should humble ourselves enough to learn even from animals. I have, thanks to Rinpoche
This video definitely make my day! The selfless act of the dog make me ashamed of my daily actions that stem out of selfishness.
This video should be made a “MUST WATCH” for those who consume dog meat worldwide.
Beautiful video! The first time i watched it on fb (posted by a friend), i was so touched that i googled for more similar stories!
Here’s a link to the other stories! http://www.dogguide.net/25-hero-dogs.php
It is amazing how animals can be so selfless in such a natural way.
A “HUMAN” ran over a “DOG”…rather it was a hit and run case.
Another DOG dragged the injured dog by his front legs to safety and literally, saved the injured dog’s life!
I’m dumbfounded, in awe and totally inspired!
Thank You Rinpoche for sharing with us the wonderful video! It is very inspired and touched!
I shown to Edward this video too. What he says, which is very true ‘dogs are brave, they’ll go all the way to safe or help, not like human, sometimes when they see someone in danger or fall, they pretend not to see or make joke out of it, very sad!’
Thanks Rinpoche.
Love always,
angel
I have seen and heard many stories about animals saving another’s life. But most is mainly about dogs. Even though the saviour of the dog that has been hit by the car does not know the other. The dog still risk his life to save the injured dog among the busy cars zooming away on the highway. This is also to show us taking the dog as an example for all animals. That a part of all animals there is also the instinct of Compassion. Who knows the saviour dog may be a manifestation of Chenresig to show us that Compassion is universal may it be an animal or human.
so nice. a dog with more heart and grit than most humans. hopefully people learn from it as most of what’s happening in the world and around us is so miserable.
Thank you! That’s wonderful. I have found another inspiration video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2weEfWjvhWI

WOW how inspiring! We human beings should really learn from this! This is going up my charity blog!
That dog is just like a bodhisattva in a dog’s body. He saw the other dog needed help, ran to him and pulled him to safety, inch by inch, with no regard for his own life and he saved him.
Such an amazing and inspiring video.
