Congratulations Dato’ Ruby Khong!!
Just received some wonderful news from my long time student and friend Ruby Khong!!! Ruby is being awarded a Datoship by the Sultan of Pahang in conjunction with his 80th birthday recently. It is in recognition of her community work. Ruby is the President of Kechara Soup Kitchen, which feeds 1300 people every week. She works very hard to help others and was even recently named as one of Forbes Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy!!
Datoship is a recognition from either our Govt or Royalty in this case for the wonderful contribution someone has done toward the betterment of society. It’s like in England when you get a Sir or Lady title
I am very happy to hear Ruby is gaining this Datoship…she has been with me since before we had Kechara House way over ten years ago, and has been a loyal friend and stuck with me all the way through thick and thin.
I would like to thank the kind Malaysian Government and the Royalty for recognising our work to help others in this way. I love to write about the many wonderful things that my students and the organisation are doing. It shows how much we can all accomplish to benefit people if we put our minds to it.
Did you know, she can be addressed as Dato’ Ruby Khong with immediate effect!! Yes, from now on she is Dato’ Ruby Khong. Wonderful.

Congratulations Dato Ruby. It is wonderful that your hard work in serving and feeding the homeless has been recognised. Each and every Kecharian is proud of your work in feeding and caring for so many people who are marginalized in our society.
More than the title, it is the satisfaction and inner peace that all of us in Kechara gain when we serve and benefit people. This lesson we have learnt in our lives, I am personally forever grateful to our Guru, H. E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
For all that we have achieved in Kechara are the results of Rinpoche’s vision and mission. With deepest appreciation and respect for our Guru that we achieve our purpose in life.
Congratulations Dato’ Ruby Khong. We in Kechara Organisation rejoice with you. You have also played a big part in the growth of Kechara Organisation by your hard work in Kechara Soup Kitchen and also raising funds with your influence in Society. Kechara Soup Kitchen has expanded very fast within a few years. And this will help Rinpoche to help fulfill his vision to do charity works. As a Dato’ you an addition to our list of Datuks in Kechara that will be more influential for Kechara and growth of KWPC. Many things have been happenings very fast. So fast that its like shooting rockets into the sky without stopping. The moving to our new Gompa that can sit 700 people from our small little premises in KH1. Kechara Care expanding to three shoplots. Every department in Kechara now moving to their new premises. And most important approval of KWPC license.
Congratulations! * Syabas! * Keong-hee! Dato’ Ruby TRULY DESERVES the honour! Good things certainly come to good people! May things be good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good all the way to the end for the good Dato’!

And i am so happy for her to be recognised for all the good she has done for the people and for Kechara Soup Kitchen.

Dato Ruby Khong really deserves the recognition, she works tirelessly every single day, everything she does it’s for others and not herself.

Congratulations to Dato’ Ruby!! She and her cousin Henry spent a lot of time with me when I first got to know about Kechara and RInpoche, patiently answering my questions over coffee. I’ve only known her for about 5 years but respect and like her tremendously. She works so hard, regardless of her personal comfort, and is always able to put on a smile even she is suffering from a nauseating migraine. That’s because she always thinks of others first rather than herself. She very much deserves this acknowledgement of her tireless work for others – congratulations again, Dato’, I’m so happy for you!!

I always respect Dato’ Ruby so much as she is a true leader, extremely capable and yet down to earth.
I remember one time i was volunteering in Saturday night round, that time the packing venue was at KH2. I was sweeping the floor after the food packing, and there was somebody sweeping the floor with me. To my surprise, i found the person was Dato’ Ruby.
She is putting a lot of efforts and pushing all the way for what she believes, and helping the society sincerely with humble.
I really rejoice that the government recognize such a great person!!

I really admire all the time, effort and thought thta you put in your charity work (KSK) to benefits so many living beings. The Dato ship will mark a new milestone in your charity work. Keep up the excellent work and set to be a perfect role model for the newbies embarking on the spiritual path.
