I love Grace Jones—-she is so confident/cool/creative/and trendsetting…
The first time I saw Grace Jones was back in the 80âs in the movie VAMP. I went with my friend Diana to a cinema on Hollywood Blvd in West Hollywood. I didnât know what to make of her. I was just shocked, amazed, and was wondering who she is.
It wasnât until recently that I really started to see what an incredible, diverse, talented, visionary, and powerful artist she is. Grace Jones is SIMPLY STUPENDOUS!!!
I love watching her. She just mesmerizes you with her every word, expression, movement, and outfit..in other words, she oozes talent. I love talent. She has a powerful presence and is extremely confident. I was quite inspired by the way she speaks. I like very talented people who are not mainstream but become mainstream by sheer effort, talent and confidence in themselves.
She is so comfortable with who she is. She is powerful, attractive, confident, intelligent, and a black woman who is not ashamed of anything about herself. By right, she has nothing to be ashamed of. She gives people of all colors the inspiration to be who they are when they are not accepted. Everyone is equal and we are living in the âenlightenedâ age of equality. She stands for that to me.
I wanted to share a few videos of her with all of you. Yes, a Tibetan Lama can admire and learn from a great talent like Grace Jones also. I will be blogging more about stars I like for one reason or another.
Meanwhile, enjoy the videos and interviews. Grace is positively powerful and Joan Rivers is very funny. I love Joan Rivers also. Joanâs another intelligent, sensitive person who has been hurt so much I think…. Poor lady. She is brilliantly funny.

She reminds me of Marylin Manson. I don’t know what someone from another generation would make of that statement. This is a modern Marylin Manson!! Antichrist Superstar reminds me very much of Corporate Cannibal. The lyrics are also structured a lot like punk rock.
Rinpoche,
I admire her too!
She is intimidating yet attractive, she is witty and moves like a feline…
No “show”, no “bull###”, she is REAL!
If I was to be a woman, I would want to be just like her!

I do remember seeing her in Conan the Destroyer when I was a kid. She played Zula the lady warrior who uses a big rod for weapon. If I may say so, she is the one of the early coolest lady warrior on silver screen. It was the coolest movie at that time as there were not many fantasy movies. It really brings back childhood memories when Rinpoche shares his thoughts about Grace. Indeed she is a really good actress, she really fits in nicely in fantasy movies. If I could remember well, she was also in one of the âBeastmasterâ Series.
Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
This is what happens when one looks at others in Samsara with Buddha lenses…as how Rinpoche has demonstrated.
Imprints thingy..
Yes like the rest, I too have watched her back in the 80′s when she was at the height of her career and have gone through so much to show the world what’s inside of her and has the world dazzled.
One of the rare artists who dare to be what she is and in a way transcended many man made boundaries and showed all what a woman can do as a professional artist…
Now in her other stage of life, equally as graceful as her name. May she be well and happy!
I have always thought that the world was not ready for Grace Jones although she was ready for the world. She was too avant garde and innovative for the rest. They just could not catch up with her. One thing is for sure, Grace Jones is very distinctive. There is no one like her, before or after.
She is her own persona and woman. All 5 feet 10 and a half inches of her height, towering over everyone, lean, sleek and slightly fierce-looking – almost like a black panther. That was how I always imagined her to be. No matter how she smiles or not smile, there is always a sense of ferocity about her.
She is one of those, like Madonna, who refuse to bend according to the standard perception of society, but instead, bring the society to her perspectives on style, fashion, image, etc. She is indeed one of a kind.
Grace Jones was hot back in the day, she was all power in a time where woman were striving for equality with a male society. She was able to just come into the scene as an equal to all whom she met. Her roles in cinema, fashion, on and off stage were the same and it kept people on their toes as they were looking at a woman who was all real.
Yes as said above I do find her scary, but sheâs fascinating, she drips confidence from her pores. I liked her in the Eddie Murphy movie âBoomerangâ scaring Eddie Murphy and calling him gay, the James Bond Movie âView to a Killâ where she is a killer. She may not be around anymore but she still has staying value as far as celebs go.
Thanks for the german video, but where is my Champagne?
