Madonna’s Attitude to Criticism
Part 1
Part 2
I was driving with a friend in my 1972 Volkswagon bug in LA and Madonna came on the radio singing BORDERLINE. I ask my friend who is this? Is is a black girl singing or who? I like Black lady singers alot.. My friend described to me who Madonna is.. I was like wow. Neat song. Neat music. I was intrigued..
Then LUCKY STAR, MATERIAL GIRL and the rest came. Her songs changed the face of the clubbing scene…it was like this new girl rules….when she came on we herded to the dance floor…When we went to clubs in Los Angeles, when they played Madonna, we ran to the dance floor to jump, scream, dance and be seen..hehehe…from then on, I was hooked to Madonna. I like many other types of music of course, but Madonna is my favorite.
Madonna is unpredictable, powerful, rags to riches story, she works hard, beyond criticism….and she reigns still after 30 years.
I like her because she is tough and what she can do, she does her best. What she can’t, she doesn’t hang on and moves on. This is the secret to life. To do what you can do and do it terrifically well and ALL THE WAY. There are some work that she has done, I don’t like, but alot more of what I do like and you know..she is cool because SHE JUST MOVES ON…..AND ON AND ON….
You know it’s a waste of time being jealous, putting other people down or not being happy if they did well…it just makes you look obviously ridiculous because you didn’t do much with your work and life.
She’s racy, pushes the acceptable line, daring and she believes in her art. I like that attitude. If you can, why not?
What Madonna says about ppl who criticize us is very apt……please take a look…I CAN RELATE. LOL.
She interviews very very very well now in VH1…watch. She is very mature and talks to you. She doesn’t try to get attention like in past interviews in the 80′s and early 90′s. She is confident now. Direct and straightforward in her speech. I like it. She has to do Vajra Yogini later. I hope so for her.
TR
Madonna left home at 17 to New York to make it. I left at 16 to Los Angeles. We are connected..LOL.
Madonna would trade in her fame/money for just one thing in this world…watch this video to see what she says…she IS DEEP now……

Rinpoche loves Madonna during his young days even up till today. At first I didn’t know that Rinpoche’s favourite singer was Madonna until some people offered him sweat shirts with pictures of Madonna printed in the front. Recently when Kechara Care Lounge was opened his student made a big poster of Madonna and hung it up. They say Rinpoche loves Madonna. I guess Rinpoche not only like her songs but also her positive qualities and attitude which she has. And ignore her negative and bad qualities. In this world who don’t have bad qualities except the enlightened ones. Madonna has lots of people critising her but she did not care and only think she wants to work to where she wanted and that is fame. And she did it. Rinpoche too had people critising him in his early days in Malaysia. But he did not care and work towards what is worthwhile to start an Organisation to do charity. The result is he has succeeded and now he has Kechara Organisation.
Love the interview… Thank you for sharing Rinpoche… I especially love the part where she mentions she would trade everything…. for a MOTHER! Wow how we take things for granted. It certainly made me call my mother immediately!
She is very honest and tells it as it is. A side I never really knew about her I have to admit. Another lesson in not judging someone on face value I guess.
I also liked what she said in reference to rituals and the discipline of people going to church is good for people whether or not they do it later in life (creating the causes!).
When asked about sexuality (the interviewer tried to pigeon hole her into answering with something controversial) she answered brilliantly I thought by saying “we should always embrace it and never make ourselves or other people ashamed of it whatever it is”. I thought that was a brilliant sentence in acceptance and shows her level of acceptance I thought!
Her strength and tenacity is admirable. She also demonstrates how even going through tough times one can make the choice to make something of your life and NOT just blame everything and everyone around you. That is EASY! Why take the easy way out? If everybody did, we would have really boring people around us… and then what? hehehe
She is truly and inspiration and icon of the millenia.
Much love… Andrew
I love Madonna eversince I heard her sang, HOLIDAY!
Some of her songs are actually surprisingly deep and even spiritual. Some of my faves are RAIN, FROZEN and LIKE A PRAYER.
What I love about Madonna is that she does not stop – whether it is to re-invent herself, learn, discover or dare to push the boundaries.
She is every bit a self-made woman. Whatever people have to say about – they have to give her due credit. She has the staying power that many celebrities do not have. Since the 80′s until now – she is topping the charts and making headlines. How many celebrities have come and gone in all this time alone?
Madonna is determination personified!
There is a saying:
Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
This is wonderful! As a musician and a woman, this is the proof that where there is a will there is a way.

Ogyen.
Your wish is granted! (poof!) Here is a glimpse of next year’s newspaper:
YET ANOTHER RELIGION FOR MADONNA
(New York) Aging pop singer Madonna shocked audiences Saturday by appearing on stage naked, except for the strings of faux-pearls symbolic of her Tibetan Buddhist meditation deity. “Vajrayogini is like, totally out there,” she explained, sipping an unidentified liquid from her skull-cup, “and I try to do the same.”
Raised Catholic, Madonna embraced the Jewish mystical path of Kaballah when Pope Johm-Paul II refused to baptize her daughter Lourdes on the grounds that he had “more important things to do.” The Phillip Berg Kaballah Center refused comment on her latest apparent conversion. Madonna now follows the controversial Malaysia-based guru Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, who describes himself as a fan from way back: “After all,” he told this newspaper, “we are liiiiiving in a material world (ma-TERial!)…”
OH, how I love Madonna! When I was young and first saw her MV in which she seduces a black priest, I was shocked! How inappropriate! but that led me to save up and bought my first Madonna cassette tape later on. It was in the brilliant late 80′s when I rewind the tape again and again to learn her songs.
Fast forward to today, she has demonstrated her strength and determination through the years. No matter in music, fashion, controversial interviews, private lives; she never failed to be strong and faced the world with confidence. I must say that she is a natural performer, she is sharp identify trends and people to work with, a brilliant business woman and she played her role very well!
But the real Madonna is shown in her lyrics all the time… Put her performances aside, most songs actually tell a lot about her, longing for love and also shown her maturity throughout these years. She recognizes a lot about lives. With all her achievements, deep down she is just like any other lady, passionate, loving and she oozes out motherly love… She is great simply because she lives life to the fullest, she doesn’t stop, she pushes herself all the time, even when she failed, she picks it up and turned it into a joke.
What is amazing to me is that when you have a role to play as a performing artist as well as being real at the same, it is very hard. And I think she has find a balance in that and doing great!
I pray the best for her and she has always inspired me in many many ways…!
” I traded fame for love without a second thought,
it all became a silly game something cannot be bought,
I’ve got exactly what I asked for, wanted it so badly,
running rushing back for more, i suffer fools so gladly..”
Dear Rinpoche,
Maddy is unique, she’s the one reigning the Pop scene after so many years, yes because she moves on,and on,and on…always!
She puts all her efforts in everything she does, she really works hard for her art, she wants to reach perfection and doesn’t care of people talking behind her back!
She’s got a great mind,am sure of that
Lots of love Rinpoche la!
