On screen, Dick Van Dyke has been rescued from untimely death by flying cars and magical nannies. Off screen, the veteran star of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins had to rely on the help of a pod of porpoises after apparently dozing off aboard his surfboard. “I’m not kidding,” he said afterwards.
Van Dyke’s ordeal began during an ill-fated trip to his local beach. “I woke up out of sight of land,” the 84-year-old actor told reporters. “I started paddling with the swells and I started seeing fins swimming around me and I thought ‘I’m dead!’”
Van Dyke was wrong. “They turned out to be porpoises,” he said. “And they pushed me all the way to shore.” The porpoises were unavailable for comment.
Van Dyke made his screen debut on the Phil Silvers Show before bagging his own TV sitcom in 1961. His film credits include Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Dick Tracy, while his TV drama Diagnosis: Murder ran from 1993 to 2001. In recent years he has appeared on screen in Night at the Museum and its 2009 sequel

Animals can be so kind to human beings. We must be kind to them too!
It is stated that kharma is certain, positive karma will certainly bring positive result of some form of happiness-Negative karma will bring negative result of some form of sufferings. Karma generated by virtuous minds of love, compassion, patience and generosity will only bring happiness and never be a source of suffering. Therefore, in Dick Van Dyke episode on how he was rescued by a pod of porpoises pushing him back all the way to the shore when he was drifted off-shore out to the open sea in his sleep on his surf-board, could berelated to his good karma generated in his past lives. Good virtuous actions done are never lost until ripen into its propiate result which definetly bring good rewards. This may take lifetimes to occur until such time as circumstances are gathered for it to ripen into its effect, as written in the Vinaya Sutra:- “Actions will not be wasted even with the passing of a hundred aeons. When the right causes and circumstances meet, the fruits of embodied beings will ripen”.
Just for break to relax can sometimes cost you your life. Like Dick Van Dyke the actor. Being an actor who had been working very hard they need relaxation. Most people would like to lie drifting afloat in the sea. Dick Van Dyke 84 years old was resting on a floating surfboard when he fell asleep not knowing that the surfboard has floated faraway from the shore. When Dick woke up he got a shock of his life, He panicked but with good karma he has, was that he was saved from untimely death by someone. It was the porpoises who saved him and they were pushing him on his surfboard to safety back to shore. In past lives he must have saved these sea creatures lives.
I don’t always agree with your posts, but this was dead on, way to go!
