Nepal has had a long tradition of Vajra Yogini worship. They have many sacred temples dedicated to Her. They have Her depictions everywhere. It is such a joy to see. Even in the Vajra Yogini lineage lama prayers The Nepalese Pamthingpa Brothers are included as they were great practitioners who preserved Her lineage.
I found this video on the sacred Dance of Vajra Yogini and I post it here to share. It is beautiful and mystical.
Please enjoy and drink in this mystical display of Vajra Yogini’s mystical dance.
Tsem Tulku

Thank you again, noble master.
Where previously I did not have the merit to see such things. Though my relationship with you, I now have the merit to view such a wonderful sight. Thank you. Please live long. Please continue to teach the Dharma.
Thank you so much for this post….
Enchanting! Hope we can one day bring this dance to Malaysia
Thank You Rinpoche for this video
Thank you very much for this beautiful video!
I am amazed of her resemblance with Kali and Chinamasta from hindu philosophy. I am more familiar with the Mahavidiyas, I didn’t know much about Vajra yogini,
thank you, I am pleased I discovered you I also hope to understand better the budhhist teachings with your help
Graceful, enchanting, ethereal.
I wonder if the dancer understands Vajrayogini’s practice and tantra – most likely she is more familiar with the Nepalese version of her practice. The way she moves is almost unearthly, and I really like when she assumes the pose of Naro Kacho Vajrayogini throughout the dance. It sends shivers up my spine!
Watching this video brings me back to Kathmandu, where I had the opportunity to visit 4 different Vajrayogini chapels back in 2008.
Naropa had practiced and meditated in the heart of Kathmandu (in Pashupatinath) and although he had many disciples he kept his practice of Vajrayogini secret, transmitting it only to two brothers from the Nepalese town of Pamting, now called Pharping. Pharping is also the location of one of the Vajrayogini chapels – this chapel houses the image of Vajrayogini with one leg up – very special indeed.
Beng Kooi,
I loved visiting all the Vajrayogini chapels when we went to Nepal in 2008. It was such a spectacular trip – and so blessed to have Rinpoche lead us. I don’t think I’ve walked so much since! At least we have the wonderful Vajrayogini book by David Lai and Paul Yap which I can show my friends to share the beautiful sights with. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that maybe this November/December I can take Sean to Katmandu too.
“I really like when she assumes the pose of Naro Kacho Vajrayogini throughout the dance.” – I was just about to say that! I think she does such a great job of bringing Vajrayogini to life. I’ve sometimes have trouble seeing some statues as representations of the real beings – for example, in many instances, I can’t imagine Buddha Shakyamuni ACTUALLY looking like the images we have of him. But with other statues, like the Lama Tsongkhapa that Rinpoche posed with in the Jokhang, or Setrap in KH2, or the ones that Kechara Discovery is making for our new gompa, I have no trouble with. Strange but true.
And Beng, can I add one more word to your list of adjectives – mesmerising…
Thank you very much for the video. It is indeed mystical and enchanting.
GRACIAS GRACIAS GRACIAS muchas gracias por el video es lo mas bello puro e inspirador que he visto nunca.Me encanta verla bailar es realmente precioso.
Thank you Rinpoche for this beautiful video of Vajrayogini mystical dance.
Wow! The dancer has so much grace in her dance and so nibble. The ornaments she is wearing also has lots of meaning. I think the gestures she makes with her fingers and hands are also mudras which tells the meaning of the actions. I saw a performance of the dance of 21 Taras in a centre called LDC a few years ago. It was performed by the centre’s members who are trained locally. They are not so nibble and expert as the girl in the video. I think it would also be a good idea to introduce this mystical Vajra yogini dance in Kechara Houser. I am sure lots of young members in Kchara House would like to participate.
