MUST WATCH THIS VIDEO.
MR. James Pearson is a selfless person. You can see how loving, giving and the good energy emanating from Mr. Pearson in this video…VERY INSPIRATIONAL..
Mitchell Shigemoto (Japanese-American) and James Pearson (African-American) become best friends while serving in Vietnam. Pearson acts as Mitchell’s protector when several fellow soldiers harass and discriminate against Mitchell for “looking like the enemy.” In a rice field, during heavy fire, Mitchell gets hit, and James shields Mitchell from oncoming bullets with his own body! Then he goes against regulations and carries Mitchell, through a flooded rice plain, to an evacuation helicopter! In other words, he saved his life!
The reunion between those two guys, who seem so sweet is one we”ll never forget!!

Wow! What a beautiful video and it is so wonderful to learn that such selfless people still exists. It is inspiring because the Internet, movies and TV glamorise selfishness and make it something that everybody wishes to attain. It is really refreshing to watch and hear a story of a selfless person. It makes for a few tears, a softer heart and much more substance and example for many out there to aspire to including myself.
I’m so touched. Putting others before self.
When only can I achieved that selfless level?
Will try.
Such a selfless act. May we be inspired by this and transform our self-cherishing mind into a selfless one.
Karma is what links an action to its eventual result at some future time. This is the inevitable ripening of the law of cause and effect, the key to creating whatever future result that one have to experience. All of us in samsara remain bounded by karma, but are unable to establish our destiny by controlling karma. All experiences of happiness and sufferings, and the environment we live in, are said to be created by karma, our own actions! Karma is certain. Good karma generated in Mitchell Shigermoto’s past lives would have created good positive merits in this episode to save his life. Good virtuous actions will never be wasted, as written in the vinaya sutra.

Wow, what a touching story. I shed quite a few tears watching it. What touches me most is the selfless act of James Pearson who risked his life to saved Mitchell Shigemoto and the gratitude of Mitchell Shigemoto and his wife who never forgot what James did for them even after 30 years. It is an example of how selflessness and gratitude creates happiness in this world. Truly inspiring!
