Rainbow Around the Moon tonight
Tomorrow our Kechara House will be making a huge acquisition that would advance our centre to be able to benefit so many hundreds more people in the near future. There's a Tibetan saying to not reveal till the work is done.
Any case it will be a monumental development for us in a great direction. So incredibly tonight, Monlam alerted us at 2:58Am in the morning DIRECTLY OVER MY HOUSE (Tsem Ladrang), a very large rainbow appeared around the moon. The Ladrang students and KMP Liaisons were here to witness. Ceo Li Kim of KMP mentioned she has never seen anything like this in her life.
I also saw the huge circle surrounding the moon myself. I've not seen anything of the sort also. I only read about it in certain biographies or events around various masters.
I take this as a very auspicious omen for us again if it is a omen.
I thank the Three Jewels and our Dharma Protector whom I've relied on for many lifetimes.
Photos taken by Ladrang student Justin Ripley. Thank you Justin.
Tsem Tulku

I have seen this ring around the moon before many years ago in my former area of residence. Beautiful phenomena. Here’s sharing a link that I found on that phenomena:

May all auspiciousness and success be upon Rinpoche and Kechara!

Hello,
this is wunderfull – mystical – never seen something like this before. Thank you.
what a beautiful phenomena…thank you for sharing..
I have never seen a rainbow around the moon before although I have heard of it. Being in Kechara, I have bear witness to a few amazing miraculous signs. There have been many rainbows appearing of late, with mushrooms and plants growing from places most unexpected. You can read more about rainbows in http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/2010/07/rainbows.html. Kechara is growing and with that growth, many signs are popping out for all to see, as if to reinforce the fact that Rinpoche is right and that we, as students should keep our faith in our Guru strong. I have not seen so many rainbows until I have joined Kechara. It is really encouraging to know that even if the Buddhas approve and the Deities are rejoicing with us. May we witness more miracles in the age where cynicism thrives.
I remember when I was still a kid, I will feel very excited whenever I saw Rainbows, because it is so amazing how different colours appeared in the sky, from which ground it started and ended at which ground, I always feel like wanted to the end of the rainbow to see how it’s formed, to me, it is just simply so beautiful and mysterious.
It has been long time I didn’t see any rainbow already, not until I joined Kechara, rainbow is once again appeared in front of my very eye, especially during our special event or we have done something great. That’s what I’ve heard before, when a good and meaningful activity manifest or a place where Rinpoche is, rainbow will appear, a sign of the local deities are very pleased, what an auspicious sign.
I too have never seen rainbow around the moon. You may call it a beautiful coincidence that this moon rainbow appeared on the night before Kechara going to sign a big acquisition the next day. And the direction from that acquisition will bring forth much benefits to many.
But I must admit that I have never seen more rainbows in my life than my time with Kechara. Do you know rainbow appeared on our weask day this year? The weather was actually looking bad and was about to rain as many members witnessed it. Liaison Yap Yoke Fui made a prayer to Setrap asking him to bestow good weather so that our Weask fair activities could go on. Not too long after that, a rainbow appeared. And a minute later a second one appeared while the first one grew brighter and stronger. A double rainbow!!! And of course, it didn’t rain at all. Rinpoche commented rainbow appearing was a clear sign that our protector and the local deities were very pleased with all the hard work of the wesak committee and volunteers. So when we keep our promises and committment to our guru, I could be looking forward to more auspicious signs for Kecharians in the future!
Albert, same here! Whenever I see a rainbow it was/is always connected to Kechara. The last one that I saw was at the Wesak Fair (http://www.kechara.com/kechara-house/video/kechara-wesak-celebrations-2010/)! Oh I so want to add a photo here because I took a gorgeous photo of the Project Director of KSK and a volunteer with the rainbow in the background!
I understand that the rainbow around the moon is called a ‘halo’ or ‘glory’, and although some people might not believe it, it really is a rainbow because light is refracted off ice crystals.
How auspicious that it’s called as such
Hopefully I’ll be able to see one one day – gotta stick around with Kechara more!
Terima Kasih Rinpoche!

“Taking refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is an important decision for the progress of spiritual practice. Especially so if it is under the refuge, compassion and protection of an exceptional guru such as H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
Upon taking refuge, the relationship between guru and student or Guru Samaya is firmly established with H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, bringing to fruition positive karmic links with the guru for his guidance and protection in this lifetime, and beyond.
As a student of H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, confidence is cultivated in trusting his wisdom, guidance and vision for future well-being, and most importantly, in the transformation of the mind towards inner peace and happiness. And with that, it’s when your journey in spirituality truly begins!
Taking Refuge is a decision that is definite in accepting H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche as a guru to be cherished for his advice and protection.”

Wow, I actually cannot remember the last time I saw a rainbow! I love the colours that forms the rainbows. The overlapping gradient of colours, the distance it covers across the sky, how deep the rainbow arches, how perfect the semi-circle it creates is… these are the observations that run through my mind when I see a rainbow. I have never seen a rainbow around the moon so it must be a very auspicious sign indeed for Kechara since it is directly above the Ladrang and can be seen so clearly. I can’t wait for the new gompa to be completed!
The closest thing I’ve seen that has relevance to Buddhism was when I saw the clouds on a clear night form a shape that portrayed that of Kuan Yin. And it was right next to the moon thus was clearly illuminated in the sky. Amazing.
Rainbow with double rings manifesting around a moon? So many good omens and signs are appearing to Kechara, centering around our Lama, for he is a great master for many incarnations. No wonder these are tell-tale signs of our Lama. We have with us an accomplished master both in the sutra and tantra who possessed the 10 perfect qualities of a Buddhist master. You do not know how lucky we are to be able to rely on him as our teacher.
Good omens and signs are described in some books, like a withered plum tree could bear white lotus flowers when a high monk construct a temple in china to benefit many people. The good intent and the magnitude of a beneficial project delight all devas causing all good omens to manifest. Similarly, in Kechara, we are mounting on a monumental project through the merits of our Lama, these good omen and signs manifested.
This breathtaking sight of rainbows encircling the moon is an apt omen to Kechara. Moreover it can be seen from above Tsem Ladrang adds on to the potentness of this omen.
It has been almost legendary now that we hear of rainbows appearing everywhere and every time there’s an auspicious event or the arrival of a saintly being. This rule runs no difference with that of Rinpoche’s presence.
I remembered 3-4years ago when the first 3ft Lama Tsongkhapa statue first arrived in KL ready for the outlets to display for invitation back home, it was a Tsog night and on that night there was a double rainbow like this one seen from KH encircling the moon.
These recurrence of rainbows gives us hope and encouragement on how we can let go of our projections and trust our Gurus and the Three jewels as we’ll shine at the end of the day.
Rainbows are a natural phenomenon of light (with the right conditions) and most people who chance upon them will merely think they are coincidences of nature – which they see happen often enough in life. However, with the numerous sightings of rainbows documented over Kechara and after Dharma works by Kecharians, such coincidences may as well be interpreted that there must be some kind of “light” in the good works that are being done and shared – for it is only with “light” can there be rainbows refracted. So here’s rejoicing in the beauty, transcience and wonders of rainbows at Kechara!
Hi Huck! Rinpoche also says that these natural phenomenon of light are also caused by Dakinis (angels)or sometimes the local deities around the area. It is especially when some good activity is happening, will happen and in our case the growth of Dharma to beneit more people.
It is said in Tibetan tradition, these are very auspicious signs that indicates that we are heading the right direction and they are pleased. Many of times this happens when Rinpoche is about to give a Dharma talk, or after and there is usually a rainbow or a light drizzle.
There is also the story and meaning of the 8 auspicious signs where it appeared in the sky when Buddha was about to give teaching… now that is definitely not natural. Amazing isn’t it? And lately Kechara has been getting quite a lot of these interesting signs

Tonight at about 815pm in qld Australia, we were gifted to have witnessed a full rainbow circle around the moon with all the colours. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo & violet the centre was the moon. Full moon is tomorrow night. It was outstanding….. unfortunately we couldn’t capture it in a photo.
AMAZING, Hahlii working her magic.
