The Queen’s skirt tailor-made!
Patricia Ng is the resident tailor in Kechara Saraswati Arts (KSA). She usually tailors brocades for thangkas, ritual objects, brocades and clothes for Buddha statues in Traditional Tibetan offering manner. When KSA knew that there was going to be a 8ft Vajra Yogini statue that will be in the new gompa, Patricia Ng hand sketched the skirt design herself! Vajra Yogini’s entire dress will be made out of fresh water pearls.
Since October 27th, Patricia has been heading a team of volunteers and KSA staff to string pearls according to the design. They have all been working very hard on Vajra Yogini’s pearl skirt and upper body outfit. A lot of volunteers come in to help…even young kids come in to help string pearls. The dress should be completed in 2 days.

Wow…Vajra Yogini has her own personal stylist hehe
Patricia is very skilled with her hands. She knows what will look good on Vajrayogini..
Stringing the long pearl dress
It’s important to work as a team to make sure that the different parts of the dress is made in an organized manner…KSA does that really well!

The young kids that volunteer at KSA are fantastic: their energy, commitment and dedication to complete the tasks given to them. I am so humbled by them. It is so exciting to see the design transformed on Vajrayogini from Pat’s sketch. The whole process is so haute couture (just like some parts in the movie Chanel). Pat has done an amazing job to complete the Queen’s dressing.
my sister(orange T.shirt),and her friend(green T.shirt)and me also got help(i am not in the pic but i am helping at KSA the other day).Vajrayogini looks very beautiful, just love it!
How beautiful and meritorious! This is something we can all rejoice and look forward to seeing when the new Gompa opens. I can’t wait to see the GREAT DIAMOND QUEEN.
Thank you so much, Pat and her team. They are doing such a wonderful job!
Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! The very fact that anyone is able to know and see what Sister Patricia and team are doing is a fortunate circumstance! i believe we should not just regard this opportunity of seeing this piece of news on Rinpoche’s blog merely a-matter-of-factly. The joy of seeing it; rejoicing over it, is truly wonderful! We REJOICE with Sister Patricia and her team. Again, THANK YOU RINPOCHELA for the BLOG!
How meritorious to adorn beautiful pearls and jewels on Vajrayogini and I rejoice to see the ever dedicated Pat and her devoted staffs and volunteers spending so much time lovingly and patiently creating a beautiful look for Vajrayogini.
Frst glance at the title QUEEN’S SKIRT TAILOR MADE you may think and wonder for which Queen and which country is the skirt made for. Then when you read on it is a special skirt tailor made with Pearls for Vajrayogini who is the Queen of all the Yoginis. It has taken more than two weeks for staff and volunteers in KD/KSA to bead up and string the Pearls to make the skirt. And also to paint the pearl necklace and skirt with bronze colour to make the statue look antic. Many volunteers also have stayed very late to help string the Pearls for the skirt. Even a member from Kechara Southern Jewel Chapel came a few days earlier to help before the official day of the opening of the new Gompa.
A divine skirt fit for a Divine Queen, as the saying goes. All due to the devotion and hardworking efforts of Pat Ng and her dedicated staff, volunteers and friends. A distinctive, lovely and beautiful piece of creation, we greatly rejoice for them for their truly amazing and excellent efforts, not forgetting of course the the promising furistic young kecharians help too in stringing the pearls. Syabas too to KSA for the well organised team-work in transforming their wonderful visionary sketch of Vajrayogini’s dress to a reality of exquisite beauty. Every participant deserved whatever meritorious benefits derived from such virtuous effort in pleasing a devine Queen.
How far has KSA come since the days of their corner in KP SS2! Back in those days, the statue orders were pretty irregular and when the rare request for large statues to be filled came in, the KP staff would call together volunteers to roll mantras. Now there’s a dedicated team for this…from itsy bitsy statues to 8-feet ones, Kechara’s well on our way to making 2-storey statues in the future mwahahaha
