LIAISONS OF KECHARA
"Being a Liaison entails a lot of responsibility and work as they need to make the Dharma grow and i do have tremendous respect for all the Liaisons in Kechara because i know what they have been through.
They work very hard for the Dharma, putting in tooth and nail into meeting Rinpoche's goals and also taking care of so many people and departments at the same time. They often have to forgo sleep just to meet up with deadlines and with the meetings.
And they willingly go through all these just so that Kechara can grow and benefit more people. It is by no means something that can be done by a normal person. It takes a lot of determination and mental stability to be a liaison and do all the work without mistakes..and sincerity too.
I do aspire to be a liaison one day once i get my act right! which is soon haha."

But Joey, you’ve been saying that for about 3 years now… “soon” sure is a long time!
Rinpoche has said before – if you say you’ll do Dharma later, it will never come because you create the causes for it. Carpe diem, Joey… before it’s too late… think of all the time you’ve wasted since you left and what people who have stayed and persevered have achieved. Time waits for no one.. whatever you wish to do, just do it – ask yourself if you like the Dharma so much, if you like Rinpoche so much as you always say you do, why is it so difficult to commit?
I’m confused – if it is so difficult to enter Dharma now, how much more difficult will it be many years down the line, when things have progressed so far? How difficult will it be then to catch up? Let’s not even talk about karma or creating the causes, or anything esoteric – it’s just logical that if you find it hard to enter when things are at this level, it’ll be even more difficult when Kechara has progressed to another level. At that time, the difference between your personal practice, and what is required to excel in the organisation will be too great for to be reconciled.
Often i find its not the doing something that is difficult but the thinking about doing something that takes all the effort, soon as you stop thinking and start doing things become easier.
The other thing that has just occured to me as i sit here having just fininshed a 14hr day, (i had planned to catch up on the blog this afternoon but got called out on a breakdown just after getting home the first time) is that if you are working as a liason then work can’t get in the way of your Dharma practice as work IS your Dharma practice, how cool would that be!
The liaisons are indeed quite a special bunch. Admittedly, I’ve really only been regular(ish) contact with Beng, and although she no-doubt has a mountain-sized workload to get through, she’s always been extremely spritely, very kind and always willing to provide any information that I’ve asked for; Beng’s the kind of person that you come into contact with as a representative of Kechara and you get the immediate sense from her qualities and commitment to the organisation and the Dharma that Kechara is definitely the place you want to get involved in if you’re serious about your practice.
The liaisons are a wonderful example of practice in action, and I imagine they’ve all had their struggles and obstacles to overcome, but the seem to push themselves to always rise to their many tasks and provide great inspiration for anyone who’s really committed to going all the way.
Well done, guys (and gals!). You do so much for so many others and are such wonderful assets to such a worthwhile organisation.

Thank you Sandy, your words are too kind. I and all the other Liaisons do whatever little we can to assist Rinpoche in his work. With Kechara growing at an exponential rate, one can only imagine the responsibilities that rest on the leader of the organisation – as Spiritual Guide, Rinpoche already has so much to do and so many of us to worry about (our negative karma must be hovering at the edge of his vision all the time) – so if we can lighten his load, we must and we will.
We will be there to keep KWPC running smoothly and we will search for Rinpoche’s next incarnation once his current incarnation’s work is done. If we are to build the next Gaden monastery in Malaysia, it must last for generations. And with KWPC around the corner, the Liaisons Council will soon be expanding, to handle the increase in work and more importantly, to nurture the newer candidates who will be the lineage holders of the future.
I really admire the Liaisons of Kechara House. They are an inspiration to all of us because they are committed to the Organisation and work selflessly to help Dharma grow in the region. They are Rinpoche’s right-hand and left-hand men and women. We, who are doing Dharma “part time” should help them wherever and whenever we can. Maybe, for many of us, our duties to our family are such that it is not possible now to fully commit. But if we plan properly and have the intention to commit, we will do so, sooner or later. For some it’s very fast, like the Liaisons. So we should support them all the way.
The Liaisons of Kechara House, the second most important people after our Spiritual Guide, H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. Without the Liaisons, Rinpoche has TOO much to do on his own and all the things that Rinpoche have been doing is to benefit more people, after all Rinpoche is just one person and of course a Monk. Therefore, all the Liaisons in Kechara are the most hardworking people I have ever known as it is never for their own selfish reasons. Countless nights of meetings that last for days, discussing ways to improve our Kechara Organisation and bring forth the teachings of our lineage and Rinpoche are some of their main purposes. Kudos!
In fact no word to describe of these selfless hardworking Liaisons. Our organization won’t be growing so fast if without their tireless effort and time spent on working on Dharma. They are the vehicles for Rinpoche. Driving with full force on what Rinpoche has envisioned. As Rinpoche already have so much on His own plate, having these Liaisons of Kechara organization to help and assist Rinpoche is truly inspiring to most of the Kecharians.
With folded hands may i pray for the good health of Tsem Tulku Rinpoche and The Liaisons of Kechara House. Kechara will achieve the greater heights with the combination of efforts of each and single one of you all. Thank you.
In fact, i find the Kechara is growing very fast, is more than what i can imagine especially as a buddhism organization in Malaysia. Sometime I just can’t imagine how may people have put their hard works behind. I have to say, I am salute to those people who had or have working for Kechara, with thier beutiful efforts, Dharma stay and benifits to others, with thier efforts, more poeple get to know more about Dharma. With thier efforts, they touched my heart, and giving me the chances to know more about Dharma.
Of course this will not happen, Kechara will not exist without Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.

Liaisons in Kechara would spend days working on their normal assigned tasks while they meet at night till morning and the following day. Sometimes they enter into retreats with Tsem Rinpoche but they will still plod on day after day. The world is watching us, our exponential growth in the spiritual path.
All the Liaisions embody and practices what Tsem Rinpoche teaches. That is to live the Buddhist teachings and being a good example of the teachings. If only I had met dharma earlier in my life, things may have been different. It is still NOT too late for anyone interested to contribute full time into dharma at Kechara because KWPC will definitely need more dedicated and loyal Liaisons like them to soldier on ahead with full force.
Anyone should give themselves a chance to see and visit Kechara for its cause, teachings, activity and visit all the 13 departments. You may find a pot of gold at the end of it.
I can’t add more to what you have said about BK,… BK is also Beng Kooi’s initial in Kechara. BK is really something… small but BIG in heart. Ever so helpful, very calm and steady. Just very kind la.
Heard somewhere on the web that she don’t sleep… has to be persuade to sleep and so on and sometimes even nap in odd positions. Funny BK. Not sure how she do it,… but i guess all the liaisons too. I’ll be a zombie if i’m a liaison.

I really admire all the Liaisons in Kechara. They work so hard for the sake of Dharma and that it self is very admirable. Liaison sets good examples and qualities of Dharma practitioners. Their dedication are incredible and an inspiration for us to practice more and not give up. Their hard work will bring Kechara to the next level and benefit many many more people and many many more in the future. With such incredible commitment & determination, no doubt that Kechara will grow tremendously.I want to take this opportunity to thank all liaisons of Kechara. My respect to all of you.
Just like any commercial organisations that wish to expand and be well known, they require staffs of all levels to realise their dreams. The same can be said of Kechara who is about to make a mark on a global scale. The only difference being marketing spirituality, a product which gives guaranteed permanent satisfaction to its ultimate consumers. At each point of entry, ranging from outlets to arts or publications, and even to the private office of the Lama, Kechara is fronted by people who execute their responsibilities with due care and skills and indeed with a lot of patience too. They have formidable tasks to do and they do without complaining: they have training sessions for the less experienced, they have work-shops, they have team building events, etc and best of all, they have the job of promoting the best product in its most simplest form to the masses. I take my hat off to them and cannot thank them enough.
as much as i am very ashamed to admit, i’d rather straighten myself out without involving too many people. whatever hurt that i have caused you and so many others who had placed so much hopes in me i do not want to repeat again.
maybe i’m dense, or i need more work, but either way i know that if i cant help much and yet i still lodge myself in, even though i know that the skills i need has to be developed elsewhere then it’s like taking advantage of everyone’s kindness. i made that mistake once and i wont do it ever again. It’s also an excuse i know, but all i do know at this moment is that i need to participate more in the group retreats and the like to create the causes.
i would like to humbly request you to find it in your heart to find forgiveness for such a dense, stubborn and black hole where all the efforts and kindness you have shown me seemed to have disappeared into with no results, because i am working on correcting this and i wish that you dont feel upset over me anymore.

i aspire to have as much faith, conviction and stability as the liaisons in Kechara have, and how despite the difficulties you guys never ever gave up on anything.
you’ve been very caring to me from the start and i will always, always never forget the motherly love that you have shown me even though i am not your son.
Liaisons – You are just like people in the prime minister office. The only difference is You work 48 hours a day whereby those folks in the PM office work 24hours a day. It seems to me that the Liasons dont need sleep, dont need food, and still have alot of patience and always energetic. You get paid different from those guys in the Prime Minister’s office. They get monetary gains whereby Liaisons are paid 2 folds. One spiritual and the other monetary. I salute to all the liason as you have all the merits to be serve our Guru. You guys are walking examples of our Guru. I take my hats off to you.

I certainly look up to everyone involved in Kechara, be it employees or volunteers. The Liaisons have a special place in my heart, always. I often see them as role models, especially a particular few which I have regular contact with, and whether i like it or not, i’d admit they do have positive impact on my life.
Some people may wonder why an adult woman like me would need role models to shape my life for the better… well, the answer is simple… I’m street smart; but spiritually, I’m a zygote… haha.
Whenever i think about how the liaisons have helped me, I would feel thankful… it is at these moments that I feel most grateful for Rinpoche’s presence in Malaysia.
The liaisons are definitely the backbone of Kechara and do a fantastic job. They all reflect Rinpoche’s care and love and it amazes me that despite their busy schedules, they seem to have time for everyone and yet are doing it with a smile no matter how tired they are. Truly inspiring. It is with the Liason’s help that Rinpoche can reach out and help more and how blessed they are to be in such a position to be able to serve our Guru so closely. The liaisons represent how Guru Devotion is really practiced and thank you all for the great work that you all do.

We, as liaisons, do dharma ‘work’ as our personal practice and to develop the mind to benefit others because we are not fortunate in this modern times to go into long solo retreats to meditate and gain attainment.
We do not take dharma ‘work’ as work per se.
We do not see time, effort and monetary offerings to the growth of dharma in this region as sacrifice but as a chance to practice generosity, discipline, patience, effort, mental stabilization and meditation.
We want to start by benefiting Malaysians and our kind govt by giving back to its society, by building KWPC- an institute of Buddhist learning and a wonderful and scenic destination for tourists to visit.

Joey, I may not have the chance to meet you, and I do not know your reason(s) for delaying dharma work, but sincerely, you should ‘JUST DO IT’.. if you ever have ANY thoughts of doing dharma work, it means you have created the cause of doing it, WHY WASTE IT? Do you know how fortunate we are to be where we are at this point of time?

Hi Elena, I completely agree with you. In the 1 year I know of Kechara, it has grown tremendously. Even within the organization, people are struggling to keep up. The good news is, they are struggling, i.e they make the attempt.
If one does not even take the risk and try, then , even the slightest hint of hope is thrown out the window by oneself.
Joey, I do not know you and apologize for being nosey. However, you have contributed to the retreat a lot and is, I assume, sincere in helping others. That is Dharma. Since you’ve already got your feet wet, might as well jump in.
There is no guarantee in life, only death is certain. If there is something worth betting on, it is the Dharma.

Here are some excerpts I found for the definition of a Liaision: 1. A close relationship. 2. One that maintains communication. 3. An instance or a means of communication between different groups or units of an organization. I reckon all the above applies to our very hard working and dedicated Liaisons of Kechara and MORE.
Not only are they a shining example to us that no matter what background you come from or what level of practice you are currently at, we can all contribute in our own way. And how wonderful is that!

We are all fortunate in one way or another in being alive and healthy to be blessed with having the opportunity to contribute. And what better way to do so but with the blessings of our guru and protector for us to dedicate our lives to help others. Your comments will spur us to do more and to support our Lama and Guru in his mission to spread Lama Tsongkapa’s teachings and tradition to benefit everyone.
Our Guru and Dharma do not need us.But we need our Guru and the Dharma.
When we first engage in Dharma work, it does seem like a sacrifice. But if we persevere and have faith in our Lama and Guru, our life will improve and so will those around us. When we experience positive change in our attitudes and the accompanying joy in caring and helping others,we feel thankful and grateful for being able to serve others.There is fulfilment, not sacrifice.
If you are inspired and relate to what Rinpoche and our organisation is doing, help us concretely by being an active member or by joining a committee.Individually, each of us cannot bring much benefits to others, but collectively we can help manifest Rinpoche’s visions and projects which will bring huge benefits to all.
Liaisons work super hard to make things happen for Rinpoche. They do everything to create conducive conditions for the organisation to grow and they really inspire people to want to do the dharma. Through their sheer hard work.
I just come out from a liaisons’ council meeting with my spirit up and inspired! It is my wish that I can help more by becoming a liaison of Tsem Tulku Rinpoche.
This wish is not purely motivated by helping others, it is also motivated by my wish to help myself.
Indeed, in the last few months I have been privileged to work directly with some of the liaisons and have had to face my short-comings, that is, to name a few: cover-ups, sneakiness, blaming others, hiding, manipulating others, carelesness, etc…
These short-comings are the rule of the game in worldly ways and one can get by being sneaky and blaming others if one is skillful in worldly terms, playing power games, talking well, bribing, etc…
But when I tried to apply my “ways” as I have used them for over 40 years now with my Dharma brothers and sisters, they would not let me win and they would make me face these short-comings of mine, make me acknowledge them and turn my regrets into reparative actions. They teach me to take responsability for not only what I am in charge of but also for the people operating around me and of whom’s work I am dependant to.
The lojong is not just a beautiful teaching to meditate on, it is a teaching to be practiced, and what better field of practice than my field of short-comings when I am surrounded by Dharma brothers who have my sake in mind?
Acting as a liaison comes with a responsibility that, in fact, we should all have liaisons-or not, the responsibility to help others at ALL levels before any other sellfish agenda.
May I become a liaison, this is my prayer, and even if I am a bit scared of the commitment it requires, I know that it will help me enormously, so I am ready to jump. And if it helps me, it will help others.
Rinpoche also said today not to wait until the karma to work for Dharma closes, because it will close if we don’t grasp at the oportunity. And I want to win, I want to be a spiritual winner!
