My reasons for doing a movie

Jan 22, 2012 | Views: 2,074

Dear friends,

Many years ago I was in the car with one of my teachers. He told me I should write a book about my life story. I politely declined. I thought there is nothing much I would like to share about my life nor would it be of interest to anyone. He insisted. He talked for quite a while telling me that I may not be interested or find my life interesting, but others may. It would inspire others. I was flabbergasted thinking I CAN INSPIRE OTHERS???? I really from the depths of my heart never thought I can inspire others nor have the aspirations to do so. But my teacher insisted strongly. He said I would inspire others therefore benefit them on their life’s journeys and I must write a book. He meant it would help in their life’s struggles..

I thought about all the things that happened to me both good and very painful and I didn’t know if I really wanted to talk about it. I wasn’t really ashamed, it was more, what for? What happened to me happens to alot of people…but I guess I trusted the unfailing wisdom of my teacher..to write and share what happened to me and my struggle throughout my life to do what I wanted to do which is Dharma or to fulfill a dream..I guess it’s a story of not so much I struggled to do dharma, but I struggled immensely to do what I wanted… I promised my teacher I would write and this was over ten years back.

Well my team of people were working on my book. They have travelled to US, Taiwan, Tibet, Xianjiang to research my life, some important locations are like Howell, Turkey Swamp etc…A shorter form of the book (The Promise) has already come out and many like it, but the actual full length book is not complete yet.

Recently an idea to do a movie of my life story came out. I thought about it carefully and consulted my teacher. The answer came that it would be beneficial and would affect many in positive ways. So there and then I decided I would like to do the movie even though I am not excited about it myself. So although the full book is not finished, we can use the the script and The Promise book for now…

I have not found the producers, funds, people, talent to get this together yet. A short script is ready though….But the movie should manifest sooner or later. I am describing here to you about the movie and towards the end of the video Sharon Saw does a wonderful narrative with great pictures. I had not seen the video/combined with pictures before this and I was impressed at the quality of the pictures, the flow and narration. Sharon did a good job. Thanks Sharon for such a great narration…. Kechara did a good job to help illustrate my life in a short video…thank you…

Take a look at the video please and let me know your inputs for this movie. What you think? Any suggestions? Any more ideas? I really would like to hear from you how we can get this project going. I am not particularly excited about my story being told, but I do trust my teachers and I will keep my promise to them.

Tsem Rinpoche

 *******************************

i would love to be a part of this wonderful movie. dear Rinpoche, pls do go ahead and make this movie. I believe KIM able to produce the movie.

  3. Mc on Jan 22, 2012 at 10:06 pm

It is so important for Rinpoche to produce not only a movie but several movies about Rinpoche’s life. Several, because Rinpoche’s stories this life itself contains so much material that can really help people. It cannot be captured in a mere 2 hours of film.

From Rinpoche’s childhood, Rinpoche has known rejection, struggles and hardships and have encountered many heart-breaking events. Things that tend to get us down and break the human spirit, and yet these things did not stop Rinpoche from doing what needs to be done. Many people will be able to relate to Rinpoche’s struggles, and see for themselves how we need be imprisoned by all the things that scare us and hurt us.

Rinpoche is therefore a living example of the triumph of Hope. And this is very important because although human beings all seem ok, and seem to live meaningful lives, the truth is the world and man within, are decaying and we feel it. Look around the world and look within ourselves and we will know what I mean. Just about everything we do is done so that we do not have to be confronted with the reality of our own deep sorrow and aimlessness.

I for one, had a life which I found to be a complete burden rather than an opportunity but today I have hope and a vocation worth giving all to. And I know I am not the only one. I see people in Kechara touched and completely changed. And I know that the same source that has helped me can help a lot more around the world.

People speak often of the Degenerate Times but really what has degenerated is not the external world but our own sense of purpose, our sense of humanity and the sense of happiness. And we don’t know how to turn it around, but Rinpoche, you possess the knowledge of how to which has to be spread.

And here, the antidote to man’s ills is not procured after Rinpoche did a Master’s degree in psychology but lessons that has been carefully preserved and passed down undiluted for thousands of years. A movie about Rinpoche would also pay due credit to a whole list of lineage Masters including Rinpoche’s Teachers’ Teachers.

A movie may also bring the necessary help from around the world for KWPC to manifest quickly. KWPC is not just a holiday destination like a Spa, but a centre where man can learn to heal himself so that he can heal others as well. I believe that to the main purpose of KWPC.

We see so many movies and they inspire us for a while only because we know the movie is not real, or we cannot relate to it or after we are inspired there is nothing we can do to nurture and build on that inspiration.

Here a movie will touch many and will awaken them to the fact that healing is available and in fact, healing is already in place.

    Please do the movie Rinpoche.

  4. Karma on Jan 22, 2012 at 10:38 pm

I would say why wait! Both the ideas-book and making movie are terrific more so because it would be based on a true life story as you had mentioned a journey mixed with joys and sorrows. I think rather believe that it would reach out to mass number of people as an inspiration. I feel and agree to what Oprah Winfrey a famous talk show host mentioned in her recent interview in India about her aim of the show was about drawing the connection with the audience, illuminating that ray of hope from the story for the larger people to connect and i feel your life has one. And i wish you luck and success.

    Dear Rinpoche,
Do allow me to help on fulfilling your dreams on making a movie which I believe it will help many. Am personally touched with your promised, having faith in dharma and you. Do hope you give me a chance acting in the background, like sweeping floor, stranger walking in the back ( just kidding ).
Yes, your stories could really make a difference. Especially those who experienced the pain, this is a form of healing and motivation for them… Thank you rinpoche.

    Dear Guru,
I am thinking, what is the way to get sponsors for this movie and quality producer. Where to market this movies, how to get this movie to nominate. I would like to involve in this movie making either in front or back stage.

  8. lewkwanleng on Jan 23, 2012 at 3:05 am

Whatever Rinpoche is doing, he has no personal agenda, and it is always about benefiting other sentient beings. The same with the movie. Many people may “talk” about why this Lama wants to make himself famous, but we as students, it is our job to educate others about the motivation behind this movie.

I sincerely pray that the movie is a success, in a way that it will reach many many people and inspire a lot more, and with that, more people will know about Kechara World Peace Center and that it will manifest much quicker!!

Hi Tsem Tulku Rinpoche — Thank you for sharing your video with all of us. If I can be of help, please don’t hesitate to ask. I have a small small bit of experience in documentary film production. In 2008, I produced a documentary here in the States with David Leterman and Lawerence Bender, and other folks. My first question is who is the audience for your film? How do you want people to hear your story? As a compelling narrative? As a dharma teaching? As an adventure story? How folks experience a story also depends in part on their cultural orientation and experience. I hope these comments are useful to you and your team. It’s wonderful that you are undertaking this project. With all good wishes and fondness, Elizabeth Hurwitz

Dear Elizabeth, you always come across as straightforward, organized and sincere. Thank you for being you. Please send me your email. I will post you on my personal list. Thanks so much.

I do want to do this movie very much and I need lots of help. Any help is welcomed. TR

I’m glad that Rinpoche has decided to do this project. I love the video with Sharon’s narration. It seems like they have shot lots of footage already, with actors. The style seems very effective and suitable. It would make a great “biopic” on a larger scale too: showing Rinpoche’s activities today like planning KWPC, working to get Kechara Animal Sanctuary going, etc., then revealing the tremendous difficulties in his past piece by piece. It can show people what they can become. KIM has many professionals with decades of experience, but I do offer any help I could provide.

  11. Paris on Jan 23, 2012 at 4:31 am

I do think a movie would be incredible… and very necessary for reaching out to a new generation that will probably not read a book. The amount of work that goes into a movie is exponentially larger, of course, but then so is the corresponding outreach to even larger numbers of people. With the advent of technology, it is something that people will not just watch in the cinemas, but also on their computers, ipads, even phones while they’re jogging in the gym.

The possibilities are far more open with a movie, the outreach more direct and message more clearly and directly told. There is a lot more we can share directly through visual media than can be done through the traditional forms of reading which, much as I love and hold precious, is not what this generation’s quick-thinking, restless minds would be able to sit through or “move” with.

The movie would share with the world not just the lifelong works of Rinpoche, which people can see in all its most beautiful high definition, technicolor detail, but more importantly, the story of the human spirit – how a man could have been broken by what he went through but chose not to be. In a world ever more besieged by depression and fear, stories like Rinpoche has a place in every global citizen’s heart for it is a universal one that plays a part in every one of our own dreams for success.

So year, today, people connect more with movies than they do with the written word (much as I hate to admit that, being a writer!) and a even richer visual representation of The Promise – a moving, talking, interactive one – would go a long way in bringing the struggles, hopes and expansive visions of Rinpoche to every single person out there who’s also looking for profound change and who wants to be a part of a legacy as large and lasting as Kechara and KWPC.

    Dear guru
I see the impact that rinpoche created even by giving gifts to members or guests. They are touched and inspired. Hence, by making a movie guru definitely benefit more life by creating impact and inspiration.

It is GREAT, great great!! to have this movie!!! ^^, ^^, ^^, ^^,

  15. Su An on Jan 23, 2012 at 7:11 pm

Thank you Rinpoche and Kechara for this video, it has a lot of important information and also valuable teachings condensed into 36 minutes.

I think the movie idea is brilliant. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. What about a movie which is made up of countless moving pictures? Imagine the number of people who will be touched by watching it in the cinemas, (maybe even pirating it), youtubing it etc. How many people would be connected where the movie is filmed in the many different countries Rinpoche had been.

The movie is definitely not an ego trip, how many people would delight in laying bare everything about themselves for everyone to know, moreover a Buddhist monk? It is about the celebration of triumphing over hardships and pain, and to come out stronger without bitterness, to help others find happiness, sincerely.

I agree with Paris… making a movie out of The Promise (or the extended version) will reach out to the audio-visual generation. And probably after watching the movie, more people will want to read the book (like how it was for Lord of the Rings) or vice versa (like the Harry Potter movie series). And then after that we can have documentary series/films (like those documentaries on Titanic and King Arthur).

How we can get this project going: start talk about it more now, tell others about it, show them this video, make connections, make more friends, reconnect with old friends…? Send the script to movie producers or actors (like Keanu Reeves or Richard Gere for example)? Maybe have some sort of an on-line bidding platform for freelance movie producers to bid for it?

I would say that your meaning of life is so much different from us. Thank you so much for sharing. Your real life story is important to lead us to pause or slow down the busy life to think about it the meaning of life.
About the above video is clear and easy to understand. By the way can the video to have some background music?

    Dear Rinpoche,
There are many things you did not want to do personally but for Dharma, for all sentient beings, for your Guru devotion, you did it anyway. Because of your selflessness, we are able to learn Dharma and benefit from it.

I became interested in Tibetan Buddhism after watching the movie ’7 years in Tibet’. With your life depicted in movie, I am sure a lot more people will be inspired, be benefitted. I will contribute whatever I can to make this happen.

    With much love,
    Sock Wan

Happy Chinese New Year! I pray for your health, long life and to the growth of Dharma. When I was told about the movie plan, I was excited. Although I’m not in the movie industry but at least I should be able to contribute a little. Hope everything goes well. Hope Dharma continue helping people.

I will give my moral support to Tsem Tulku Rinpoche for his contribution towards Buddhism and spreading loving kindness to the whole world.I hope this movie will inspire everyone how a dedicated monk such as rinpoche willing to sacrifice his life to benefits humankind in this degenerate times.

  22. William on Jan 24, 2012 at 12:14 am

    Dear Rinpoche,
The movie about Rinpoche is a great idea because Rinpoche’s life is an inspiration to people who knows you and it will influence more and more people who will come into contact with the movie. A lot of people will get to know and learn about Rinpoche better and understand why Rinpoche is doing this movie.

The whole reason is because Rinpoche’s vision of having a retreat centre/Buddhist institution, Kechara World Peace Centre (KWPC), that will benefit so many people not just in Malaysia but the whole world.

All the things Rinpoche does is to benefit people so that their life would be better and Dharma grow in the hearts.

And I love the last part where Sharon narrated. It makes me want to watch the movie already!

  23. sarahyap on Jan 24, 2012 at 1:42 am

Actually, I can’t wait for Rinpoche’s complete biography book to come out… haha

And I also think that making a movie is fantastic! A movie will certainly reach more people especially when it enters the big screens. But i was wondering if the movie will be the National Geography type or more on biography movie such as Gandhi and Amadeus.

I’m so sure that this movie will bring benefit to many people, not only because Rinpoche’s life shows us how Rinpoche conquer the various circumstances in life that others would have given up… but also because Rinpoche’s Guru adviced to do the biography.

  24. Lim Tat Ming on Jan 24, 2012 at 1:57 am

    Dear Rinpoche,

A picture paints a thousand words. A good movie attracts a lot of attention to a cause. The World today needs inspiring stories that will lift people’s mind. Rinpoche’s extraordinary life will make a great story that will truly inspire and help many others to find the perfect peace and happiness. Every person who knows or has known Rinpoche will agree with this.

This movie will reach out to the World and touch many hearts because Rinpoche’s biography – The Promise – has already touched so many of us here. The movie will fulfil Rinpoche’s wish to benefit others and promise to Rinpoche’s guru.

The World eagerly awaits the premiere of this exciting and inspiring movie…

  25. Don on Jan 24, 2012 at 4:05 am

    Rinpoche:

A film based on your life would definitely be worthwhile. So often we see or hear the stories of those who were involved with the Dharma at a young age, and it is only rarely that we see or hear a story like yours.

The “Precious Jewel Garland” states that one should not give up the Dharma because of desire, aversion, or fear. Your story can serve as an example of this kind of precious faith in the Three Jewels. As I mentioned on Facebook, your story, example, and teachings awakened within me the long suppressed desire to practice – I am positive that your example will aid countless others!

  26. wahying on Jan 24, 2012 at 7:53 am

  27. Yoke Fui on Jan 24, 2012 at 9:48 am

    Dear Rinpoche,
We may not have the fund or contact now to make the movie, but if we all start talking, asking around, let as many people as possible know this aspiration , I’m sure this movie WILL be produced by hook or by crook !

    Faithfully,
    YF

  28. mayy on Jan 24, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Having to make your life story into a movie will definitely inspire many out there. It is always a movie that will make more impact on someone’s mind compared to reading a written biography. When there’s music, story in motion/action movie always catches one’s attention and ingrained into one’s mind easily…imprint.

Even with recent The Promise book and Rinpoche’s blog both has inspired many, why not movie? Can’t wait to contribute in whatever ways towards this movie!

  29. henry ooi on Jan 24, 2012 at 4:01 pm

Making this movie would benefit many people to understand more of Rinpoche, Rinpoche’s aspirations and vision. For now there may not be a professional team or the funding to make the movie but as word gets around these resources will manifest.

This movie will bring forth many people who will assist in building KWPC. Like Rinpoche said, let us leave a legacy behind when we leave this life, a legacy for the next generation. A legacy that will benefit many more in the future.

  30. Lim Han Nee on Jan 24, 2012 at 4:46 pm

    Dear Rinpoche,

This movie must be made and produced. It will benefit, touch and inspire many many more people than the printed word will. People today, as Paris says, like watching movies but don’t like to read.Even without the movie, Rinpoche has already reached out and inspired so many people towards greater peace and happiness, and changed so many lives for the better. With the movie, lots of people out there who don’t read and who have not come on to this blog or accessed Rinpoche’s teachings on Youtube, lots of especially young people who badly need the messages and teachings contained in Rinpoche’s life story, will watch the movie and benefit from it.

It will also draw people to the institution that is going to be a life-line to the spiritually starved people of this modern age, the Kechara World Peace Center. It will garner tremendous support for it in terms of funds and resources as well. People will be very keen to be part of the institution and all because of the movie.

So the movie is necessary.Sharon’s short clip already whets the appetite for more of the same colorful and interesting and moving details of Rinpoche’s bio.

  31. yek yee on Jan 25, 2012 at 2:01 am

    Dear Rinpoche,

I personally feel that visual media is the most effective way to get people attention and understanding. Movie tend to give an great impact/imprint to the viewers emotionally.
Event young age kids will register to their mind for something unique & attractive to them.

Rinpoche message in this movie is to create awareness of spirituality in this modern and materialistic world. Through Rinpoche’s life story, a lot of people will be inspired and benefited. It will give hope to people.

With this movie a lot more people understand Rinpoche lives is to create an institution of learning for modern people to think and learn in accordance with spiritual values. KWPC will be a legacy for that a lot of people will come by as a join force to support this great work.

  33. Albert on Jan 25, 2012 at 3:08 am

Yes, this movie will be very beneficial to people from different ages and levels, many people in this world now are feeling that they are having very difficult times and they are the one that suffers the most, but in fact, what they suffers are very minor as compare to many more people in this world, this movie will show them what they have not experience, the life of Rinpoche and what Rinpoche has been through but yet, today, Rinpoche has became someone very comapassionate and kind, this will show many people what is it mean by real difficult times / suffering.

Many people nowadays never like to read, by just having a book might not be good enough, people like to watch movie, hence, a movie will become a very good teaching / inspirational material to many people.

  34. JP on Jan 25, 2012 at 3:15 am

    Dear Rinpoche,

I fully support Rinpoche’s movie project. It makes a lot of sense to tell people Rinpoche’s story which is full of trials and tribulations. Yet Rinpoche still exudes love and compassion.

I think all of us who supports this project should start talking to people who are either in the movie industry or knows of people in the movie industry.

Just last night, I went to my friend’s Chinese New Year open house gathering, and my friend introduced me to a Hong Kong film director, Mr Choi because I have been telling my friends for months. My friend engaged him to do a Hong Kong movie to promote his company’s cookies. Yes the main actor was eating his company’s cookies throughout the movie.

Mr Choi said that he’ll take a look at the treatment that we have and will advise accordingly. He said that he specialises in action movies such as police and triad movies. If we engage his company’s services, he’ll introduce another director who specialises in artistic/drama movies. His big boss is a Tibetan Buddhist as well. He said that his boss might even finance this project.

I’ll pass him Rinpoche’s The Promise and email to him the treatment for his feedback.

Another friend from the same gathering who heard me talking about making a movie said that she’ll invite me to join an online forum for people in the movie industry from the States and Europe. I can post my questions on this forum and even get people interested in this project. She made many friends from the movie industry at the Cannes Film Festival recently. She said to meet up again so that she can pass me her contacts from movie producers to investors.

I pray that the months of talking to people I met regarding this project and many other Kechara projects will come into fruition fast as time is of the essence. I feel that if everybody continues to talk about this project, join forces and push for it, a movie will manifest very quickly.

If my friend can do a movie just to promote his cookies, I think Rinpoche’s movie is not that far fetched.

    Regards,
    JP

    Dear Rinpoche,

I strongly feel that the story of your life will inspire many people, especially those who share the same dreams as you do, to never give up their dreams and keep pursuing them, until their goals are reached, despite so much hardship that they have to bear, as you have during your childhood. This is another amazing story of reincarnation and it was so touching to watch, even just a brief part of the future movie. I will pray for the success of your dreams and that your movie will bring most benefit to all sentient beings who have the chance to watch it. My heart and prayer are with you, Rinpoche.

It will be a FANTASTIC movie! We can actually watch what and how much Rinpoche did just to benefit beings. And YES, I want to be a part of Rinpoche’s Movie team to help out. It’ll be such an honor to be part of it. May the movie help those in need and bring them to Dharma.

To me,Rinpoche have always benefitted others! This movie is another great addition.
Rinpoche’s sad childhood, struggles, determination and loyalty will be an inspiration to others.
Agree with Yoke Fui that we should start talking and raise funds and contact to let people be aware of this movie.
Thank you Rinpoche for sharing Rinpoche’s lifestory.

It is important for this movie to be produced, for all the many reasons stated but mostly because it was a promise made by Rinpoche and knowing Rinpoche’s level of utmost guru-devotion this project will take off!!

  41. David Lai on Jan 30, 2012 at 2:45 am

    Dear rinpoche,

I watched your whole video and I am moved to tears. I am always moved to tears by Rinpoche’s story and that’s not just because I am a cry baby but I am inspired. The amazing trials and tribulations rinpoche went through in your life just to practice the Dharma blows my simple mind away.

I think your Guru is right. You story is THE necessary tale to be told today as most people today are so caught up with problems so trivial and selfish, they let it drag them down. So, your story with all the gritty realities of hardship and struggles would moved people to think out of their selfish mode of thinking. I think if your story can be told through the medium of a movie would be best as it will reach more people than a book.

I rejoice and it gives me inspiration to learn up more of your life. I would like to learn up so it will be good examples for my explanations of Dharma and that I can use it inspire others because my own story is not as inspiring. I hope I can help others to learn more about Rinpoche because it inspires faith in the Dharma and open the doors of KWPC to become a reality.

    Thank you Rinpoche.

    Dear Rinpoche,

listening to Rinpoche’s life story is never boring. Rinpoche can tell the stories for many times and I can read the same thing over and over again and it gives me inspiration to do the Dharma I need to. Rinpoche’s gurus cannot be wrong and it is from their far-sighted wisdom and pure blessings which have made Rinpoche available for us today.

I do not know of anyone now but will definitely keep a look out for people to make this happen!

  44. Jamie Puon on Feb 29, 2012 at 3:59 pm

In my opinion, I know why Rinpoche wants to make a movie, it is because wrong mind enjoying movies will have wrong views, he wants to lead people to the right view, about how a person come to success. Please forgive if I am naive.

  45. Margaretlee on Mar 3, 2012 at 7:29 pm

Rinpoche’s motivation for this movie is purely out of compassion, Rinpoche is always thinking of ways to impact people’s life in a good way, to reach out to more people so that they too have a chance to start their spiritual journey to ultimate liberation. Planting dharma seeds and imprints whenever and wherever Rinpoche can.

As I am typing this, I suddenly have a surge of tearful emotion as I recall my guru’s tireless and compassionate guildance to me and all his students. ve

We must all get our eyes and ears out…..look for sponsors, director and producer…..must continue to do this……..until we have the right resources to make this movie manifest!!!

  46. Yokefui on Mar 16, 2012 at 10:40 am

I had spoken to several people coming from broken home or abused childhood. After I had listened to all their stories I always told them how Rinpoche lifted himself out of his own difficult situations , transformed them into a path that ultimately brought benefits to so many. 8 out of 10 times it worked. People would stop their “poor me” habits and slowly let go of their unhappy memories.

Making a movie out of Rinpoche’s life story will inspire even more people.

Students of His Eminence are constantly working on this. Any one out there willing to offer help in any kind, please contact the Liaison Council or Kechara House.

    Thank you.

Such an inspiring life story should be told and shared with all. A teaching that regardless of the circumstances that one is born in to, one can make good one’s life as it is all in our hands. A picture paints a thousand words, let alone a ‘moving one’. I pray that this movie will manifest soon and that I will be able to contribute to its manifestation.

  48. Hui Keng on Mar 16, 2012 at 1:44 pm

Rinpoche’s life story is truly inspiring. If his life story is produced into movie it will certainly be a spiritual legacy to benefit many people around the world for many generations to come. Those involved in this movie will gain tremendous merits and realise their personal goal for sure. How wonderful if a suitable director and producer will come forth quickly to realise this dream.

  49. LilyT on Mar 17, 2012 at 12:56 am

I had the privilege to be included in the viewing of this video at KD this evening. Just watching this short video is already an inspiration, let alone a full length movie. Rinpoche had to endure tremendous hardship to fulfill his calling with the sole aim of benefitting others.

I pray that the movie will manifest without any obstacles.

  50. Mayy on Mar 17, 2012 at 1:51 am

How Rinpoche gone through the rough and tides of life to realise dreams would definitely help and benefit many people. It moved many now and it will even move many more when it is made into movie. An outreach where most people will relate much easier.

  51. Paul Yap on Mar 17, 2012 at 5:19 pm

Its a great idea to make a movie of the 1st Malaysian Rinpoche, everyone around the world will be inspired by Rinpoche’s life story, and will come together for KWPC, and yes, we will do everything, including becoming the tea boys and girls to serve Rinpoche!

  52. Helena on Mar 17, 2012 at 5:29 pm

I can’t wait for the movie about Rinpoche’s life after reading and watching what has Rinpoche explained to us. I totally agreed that it is a fantastic idea to do a movie as its really will benefit and inspired many people, especially those who are lost in their spiritual practice, and of course the people who are seeking their spiritual path.
I totally understand it will not bring any benefit to Rinpoche besides criticism perhaps, but i believe as long as the motivation is to benefit many, people will soon understand, its just the matter of time.
I am giving my full support!!!!!
Thank you Rinpoche for explaining this to us and always so caring.

    Much care, Helena

Rinpoche biography is very touching to people, how Rinpoche went through all the things when he was young and for Dharma.
I think this movie definitely will inspire a lot of people to their life. They may get touched for watching Rinpoche’s story and might get some thoughts or realization about their life isn’t that worst than that.
Hope that one day they will find out Dharma to help for themselves and others. To make our life more meaningful.

I’m very excited to see the movie…!!!

    Thank you Rinpoche!!

The purpose for making a movie to benefit others is so profound. Rinpoche’s life had not been easy and yet Rinpoche has risen above all the problems and sit on a throne to benefit people and founded the largest vajrayana center in Malaysia.

What an inspiration! Make the movie, Rinpoche and many will relate that when we let go of our pains we can be of much use to others and self. Even some of us who hangs on to our pains, by focusing out to benefit others, our pains will subside.

This is what the movie will be about. May the Movie of Rinpoche’s life manifest to benefit others in this modern and degenerate era.

  60. Siong Woan on Mar 19, 2012 at 9:38 am

As the saying goes: A picture paints a thousand words.. I am sure a well made movie would be a far better media than still pictures!

A movie about Rinpoche would definitely be an evergreen and go down in history!

  61. Wan Wai Meng on Apr 2, 2012 at 11:43 am

I feel rinpoche will inspire many people of the hardships of wanting to practice, I mean sometimes we read about stories of how much suffering a spiritual master had to suffer to practice the buddha dharma, but Rinpoche was a minor when he tried to run away and wanting to fulfill his destiny. It is a story of not giving up and determination to overcome everything for a very high and beneficial goal. Rinpoche is monk to benefit all beings, and I think the world would gain from being aware of the story of Rinpoche who went through so much mental and physical problems and difficulties to achieve what they believe in.

It will give people perpectives about what they went through and perhaps make their situation seem lighter in one aspect and give more methods or ways for people to face their issues. Rinpoche’s story inspires me.

  62. Han on May 7, 2012 at 9:08 am

I have watched the video many times, the more I watch, the confident and passion to produce the movie in me increase. Regardless of how other people think of the IMPOSSIBLE of making Rinpoche’s movie, as a production people in Kechara, I want to maintain the determination of getting this movie done by talking, meeting many many experts in the film industry all over the world.

It will be a great honor to be involved in this project.

Rena Wong (6 months) 8. Lilyn Tan (6 months) I am so incredibly happy to get the news. It is very rewarding when some take the teachings to heart and some positive action arises as a result. I congratulate those 8 people who have developed compassion and enough awareness. They have put their attachments for meat aside for spiritual attainments. Tsem Rinpoche

Difference: Rinpoche’s life in Los Angeles is HIGHLY INSPIRATIONAL. More people should know about it. Kechara should do more to promote and educate everyone on who Tsem Rinpoche was before he took ordination. It is a teaching that will apply to so many materialistic people like myself. Kechara should really do alot more to promote the biography and background of Tsem Rinpoche since you have Rinpoche with you and you can gather any information you require and you have the writers/resources. If Kechara does not promote who will? All Kechara staff and students should know Tsem Rinpoche’s background perfectly and speak about it with others. I am so touched and inspired by Rinpoche’s growing up years and I know thousands upon thousands more would be also. Kechara should do more to promote. Not many people know about Rinpoche’s background. My thoughts to everyone. Don’t you all think so?

It is a WONDERFUL IDEA to start your day by reading one story from the 84 Mahasiddhas. They are very inspirational as they started out just like us, but changed and took responsibility and became attained thru sheer effort realizing the futility of life’s endeavours… I use to read their stories in Gaden and it would bring torrents of tears to my eyes. They touched me deeply especially their guru devotion. I wanted to be like that.. Wonderful habit to cultivate every morning upon waking is some dharma reading, then do Tsongkapa guru yoga, migtseyma and then start your day..You will be ready for anything…TR Mahasiddhas-Must bookmark this page: http://blog.tsemtulku.com/?p=23941

Willow Creek is the exact type of town I would love to live in…trees, mountains, rivers.l would set up a house there, big altar, butterlamp house and make lots of offerings and do retreats there and lots of dharma readings. Having bigfoot nearby is just an extra treat. But I wouldn’t move therer for bigfoot-I like the environment..In Tibet Domo Geshe Rinpoche use to meditate in secluded caves and when he gained attainments, Yetis which is Himalayan bigfoots visited him giving him special milk where he made healing pills that were so powerful even the 13th Dalai Lama and Panchen Lamas wanted those pills. Domo Geshe was famous to have association with yetis and they never harmed him, but would drop milk off at his cave and go…I would love to live at Willow Creek so much. I love places like this. If I didn’t have Kechara, I would move there immediately and live there. But I will visit for sure. Will take a group with me. I want to go very much!! Willow Creek is a town in Northern California. This town has the most reported cases of bigfoot sightings. From Willow Creek you go to Bluff Creek where the most famous Patterson-Gimlin film of a genuine bigfoot was walking back in the 60′s was filmed…it is the most famous footage that no one can debunk till today….Willow Creek is so green, full of mountains and beautiful rivers. I will definitely take a group with me and visit one day..I love forests and Northern California..so beautiful.. I don’t want to look for bigfoot, but the whole town is a total mecca for bigfoot enthusiasts with shops and small museums. I would like to go to just enjoy the scenery, the mountains and forests. And see the bigfoot scene.. I would love to live there for sure. Who wants to go with me?? Dear friends, This is a well made Paranormal real life story. Nothing scary in this episode, but very powerful show of love and willpower. I want you to please watch this carefully and see how a mother reaches out to save her child. Her will was so strong she left her body. The child saw a light leaving the mother and going to the road although she died and 'found' people to save her child. Very touching and beautiful story. I knew of a lady who when she went to bed at night, she would feel unseen hands touch her body and disturb her sleep. This happened many times. She sought help from many places without relief. When she saw me, I gave her Singdongma. She invited a statue home, set up a shrine for Her and did Singdongma's mantra/prayer daily. The unseen hands stopped disturbing her & this was ten years ago. She does her prayer daily to Singongma till now: http://blog.tsemtulku.com/?p=31904

Dear all, every week I am informed of a death and to offer prayers. This week I was informed of four deaths. With death, everything is almost final and if we didn't do dharma genuinely, we would have regrets. Death is such a omnipresent and frightening stalker. Realize it will come for you one day soon and go all the way with dharma, dharma practice, dharma work and gain realizations. At death, the dharma you have is the only hope. Anything else acquired in life is a total waste of time. Please realize and wake up. Don't procrastinate and keep yourself 'busy' with activities that are empty at the time of death. Our minds will continue at death and what supports that journey is our good merits and attainments collected during our lives. Tsem Rinpoche

Dear Rinpoche, Bryan and I do so much less than what Rinpoche does. When people are asleep Rinpoche's working, when people are awake Rinpoche's working. Not many people in Kechara realize that Rinpoche works the hardest in the entire organization. I didn't know before joining Ladrang. Although Rinpoche may want to go around to pray for people in need, one day I want to able to do this instead of Rinpoche. It is quite taxing and Rinpoche can't be going out of Haven 24 hours to pray for the dying/dead. I'm happy Pastor Yek Yee and Pastor Susan wanted to come today, they really are awesome Pastors. Thank you, Jean Mei

Dear TR,  We have just collected Tashi's ashes. Our Nirvana agent who named May is a very nice lady, she is in her 40+, she is a Buddhist and a Mandarin speaker. She follow us thru out the whole session. May also bought us drinks and settle everything for us.  I have share with her about KH, TR and some other departments we have in Kechara. She is interested in KH. I will arrange with her to come and visit KH and various departments soon. The couple is sending us back home and we will go and get a stupa for Tashi's ashes. Have asked them to go back and rest after this. From Bryan

Dear all,  It's 9:30 AM. I just walked into the house after being in the hospital and then going to finish a funeral for a baby of a student. I have just conducted two funerals in the last 24 hours. The second funeral was for a baby. I had Jean Mei, Bryan, Seng Piow, Pastor Susan, Pastor Yekyee, Lew with me. Pastor Susan and Yekyee really wanted to come and learn. I am glad they made the effort.  We conducted a simple funeral by reciting holy verses, sprinkling holy water onto the baby, protector rice and scattered blessed fresh rose petals all over the baby. Afterwards I had a nice conversation about the baby's mind taking rebirth. Upon leaving the father and father's mother gave me a very warm hug of thanks and support during this most saddest of times for them...and the wife was happy and looked visibly relieved. She let go alot and let go of her guilt after we talked.. I have sent Bryan and Jean Mei with the family to cremate the baby this morning at 11AM It will take two hours and then we can bring the ashes home. Part of the ashes will be in a large stupa. All of us are extremely exhausted but did very good work. That is what Kechara is about. I am very happy we can help the baby and family along their way. When they called, they sounded extremely desperate as it was very late with no one to help them. We were very honoured to help them. I didn't call Pastor Yekyee and Pastor Susan heard, they immediately wanted to join me. Now with no sleep after baby Tashi's funeral, they went to Kechara to give dharma classes. I am proud of them and my assistants who wanted to help all last night until this morning. It is wonderful to give it all we can for others. That is what Kechara is about. Tsem Rinpoche

Monastery have done a whole day of Vajrayogini Daju and Ruchok this Sunday, this is for Rinpoche's previous life and current life students who passed away recently: Geshe Ngawang and Justin Ripley.

Monastery is now in the middle making Tsa Tsa out from Geshe Ngawang's ashes. After they finish, monastery start to make Tsa Tsa out from Justin's ashes.

Monastery will use Justin's ashes and make a few different type of Tsa Tsa:

1) Chenrezig, Manjushri and Vajrapani Tsa Tsa

2) White Tara, Amitayus and Nagyalma Tsa Tsa

3) small stupa Tsa Tsa

I have asked monastery to mail us few Tsa Tsa after finish, this will be place inside KFR big VY stupa.

Thanks
Bryan (Justin Ripley's ashes has been made into holy Buddha tsatsas {as in picture} to gain more merits for him). We love Justin.

When we trust, practice and go all the way with the tantric path of Vajra Yogini, we have nothing to worry about. All the worries both worldly and spiritual will be solved. We should surrender to Vajra Yogini's blessing by being our best. We just set up this wonderful statue of Buddha Vajra Yogini in our library area. How beautiful She is. Buddha Vajra Yogini is special deity for those overwhelmed by laziness, miserliness and want easy practice but big results. May all of you be blessed to see Her holy image. Kechara Discovery Dept of our orgazination does such wonderful images available for the public. I am very happy as She is beautiful. Thank You Kechara Discovery! Tsem Rinpoche

When I first arrived in Malaysia in 1992 I had a group of people who would sponsor my tickets, stay and for many years sponsor much needed help in Gaden. One of them was Ms Mooi Lan who lives in Cheras. She has been a great supporter for the last 20 years and in the past sponsor. I recieved very sad news she passed away this morning at 4Am. I request all my students to please light a candle for her to take good rebirth and come across the dharma again. Offer the candle to Buddha Dukkar..that is the Buddha I assigned to her many years ago and she diligently practiced and set up a shrine to Dukkar.. I will miss her and never forget her kindness. Many of the things I wanted to do in the past she generously helped. Tsem Rinpoche ( see here http://blog.tsemtulku.com/?p=4354 )

Heruka! We say we want to improve yet we don't hold our vows. We promise to keep our samaya, yet our promise to our earlier promises laxed. We want to experience only good results yet we hold onto our face. We want wealth, yet we give nothing. We want success, yet we offer tiny offerings to the Three Jewels. We say we have great faith in our Guru, yet when his assignments are difficult we run. We say we want a good rebirth yet all our actions are motivated by self gain. Heruka, Heruka, Heruka, how are we to recieve your blessings when our three doors are closed tightly by selfishness, ignorance and anger?~Tsem Rinpoche

I haven't lived in Gaden since 1992 when I was sent to Malaysia. I love Gaden and loved so much living there. I like so many things about Gaden. Conversations would not be lonely and easy. Whatever I talk about the monks immediately understand. I do not have to face 'opposition' , doubts, hundreds of questions, and every detail simple about the dharma or dharma work has to be explained. I miss that so much. I am not lonely for company, but I am lonely for familiarity very much. I was very content, at peace and in my element in Gaden. I never knew or imagined I would have to go to Malaysia, stay and take on heavy responsibilities. I am not complaining but I love Gaden, the monks, my teachers, the great masters, the senior monks whom I have many friends. I miss them so much. So so much. I love and respect the great old monks, Rinpoches and spectacular Geshes. Gaden was a city of practitioners and I was home. Lord Tsongkapa's presence pervades the whole Gaden. TR

Dear all, I gave a talk on desire to a few inclusive of Paris and David. I asked David and Paris to write up the talk on their blogs. My plan was after they write it, I'll link it to my blog. From my blog people will click to their blog to read the write up and benefit many who read the talk. Paris did a very good write up and did not miss the subtle points I was expressing that night. She really took the time and effort to write it...I was happy to see she wrote exaclty as I expressed. Effort pays off usually or eventually. I am happy to see there are 669 views (43 comments) already going back to Paris' blog to read the teachings. The teachings will be benfit many. Must save and read again and again. Must share with others...Must contemplate. You want dharma, I am giving it to you and Paris wrote it out perfectly. Bryan gave me an incredible MOTHER'S DAY GIFT. It is so auspicious. He had someone draw HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche's sacred face onto the body of Buddha Vajradharma. Buddha Vajradharma is the form Buddha takes to teach the immaculate and fautless tantra of Vajra Yogini. In Vajra Yogini's tantra and meditations, you must visualize your guru in the form of Vajradharma to make offerings both inner, outer & secret offerings daily to one's tantric guru & to meditate on Him in that form. It is very integral part of the practice. If you do the meditations well on your guru in this particular form during the practice of the sadhana..you can gain tremendous realizations and control over one's mind to leave the body when you want. So getting this picture today was an omen if Kecharians fulfill their responsibilities, then Vajra Yogini's practice will spread in this region. Very good omen. I feel this strongly. Bryan really planned out this gift & surprised me!! I will put in Chamang Ladrang in the future. THANK YOU BRYAN!!TR

Back in New Jersey over 30 years ago, there lived a lady down the street who was also a student of my teacher. Her name is Carmen (she is a nun now and her ordination name is: Ani Thupten). She had a nice size library of books and many dharma books. I loved the Dharma books!! I would spend so much time browsing and getting snippets of each book from Carmen. I use to ride by bike down to chat with her and borrow her books and it took me like 5 mins by bike..She lived on the same street. I would read dharma books voraciously and write down my questions. I would call Carmen almost daily for years to ask her to clarify the readings I had questions on. She would spend hours on a phone with me answering questions never once losing patience. I learned so much from her. She had vast dharma knowledge, very devoted to our teacher and would do her meditations and extensive sadhanas daily. She would join in all the dharma classes and pujas at our nearby Kalmuck Buddhist Temple. She was such a good dharma friend and I enjoyed her company very much. I wanted to be like her to have the freedom to study and practice dharma. When I recievd my first initiation by our teacher at the temple, Carmen sat right next to me on the front row. Thrilling!! After initiation we would have ten days of explanations (commentary) from our teacher His Eminence Kensur Losang Tharchin Rinpoche. I was so excited and deeply happy to get commentary from our great and knowledgable teacher. What I did not understand, I would of course consult Carmen who is much more advanced and taught me patiently after each day’s teachings. Around 15 years ago Carmen came to India and I travelled with her to holy Bodhgaya, Varanasi and Dharamsala. I escorted her to these places. Since then I have not met up with her. But I know she is fine. Around two years back I sent her a three foot Vajra Yogini statue as a gift from me. Carmen received the statue and was very happy. It was my offering to her for so much kindness shown me when I was a child. I wish so much she can visit Malaysia. She would be happy. We all want to be a part of something big and with good results. But the only way we can be a part of that is if we work hard together with the other members of our Kechara. The time will pass. It can pass with you taking on difficulties or it can pass with you doing nothing. I feel it's better to work hard now and enjoy later than to enjoy nothing now and then end up nowhere later. Prayers and dedications are ok, but hard work must be part of the prayer. Tsem Rinpoche

His Holiness the Dalai Lama seated here with His sacred mother. A mother who gives birth to great beings like Shakyamuni, Tsongkapa, Dalai Lama, Panchen Lama, Trijang Rinpoche, etc must be a Buddha Herself, a highly realized Dakini, a powerful practitioner, or a lady who made prayers in previous lives to provide others with great dharma in one way or another. A lady of great spiritual merit or virtue.. I wanted to share this photo with you because if I ever met His Holiness' mother, I would prostrate to Her immediately. Beautiful picture. His Holiness is not ordinary for sure and neither could a being who gave birth to Him. Tibetans always said she was very saintly, gentle, simple and deeply spiritual. During Her lifetime many went to recieve Her blessings..Tsem Rinpoche

It's very revealing how when you give, offer and have something for them, they crowd around smiling, happy and easy. The minute you ask them to give something, contribute or really help out, they totally disappear. Handphones shut. No replies. No sound. As if you they never knew you. People like that make themselves 2nd rate, find 1st rate people to work with and move on. Recently I encountered some students like that!~ Tsem Rinpoche

Last night between 300-400 persons congregated at Kechara while I gave a talk to them on 'making a choice' and 'the power and purpose of stupas'. The talk has been taped and will be blogged once tape is ready. The talk was two hours and it flowed well for me although I had very little sleep. Towards the end of the talk I gave refuge vows to 100 new persons from different countries for this. When everything was done, I met up with a group of 15 and 5 from Shanghai. Had a nice dharma talk with them on how to make a centre grow and harmony. Passed out nice dharma gifts to all the visitors so they don't go home empty handed. Also seperately met some directors and movie producers that attended the talk and sought private time with me..these producers and directors are very well known locally. One is from Hong Hong. Got home around 5Am and saw so many gifts from people. Did a Manjushri dedication for all the people who offered gifts to me on Wesak day in gratitude. Also some people from Europe called in to Kechara to arrange flowers to be given to me last night. That was very sweet. I have so many flowers now..over 70 bouquets I would...guess. They have all been offered up on the shrine. Thank you. TR (May 5, 2012)

Karma exists and created constantly by our actions. Karma created in the past is fertile and will open up when the situation arises. Rinpoche, The movie group just before going to get the pants scared off them!  I have explained that it is Rinpoche's way of saying thank you to them for always working so hard for Ladrang. They were very happy to go in, even big chicken Carmen Koo! I've bought an extra popcorn set for Levi, and will drop it off in haven for her. Thank you, Jean Ai (seeing the move "The Cabin in the Woods")

If we always do not understand Dharma, then that is a sign of not studying. If we always blame Dharma, it is a sign we do not know what dharma really is. If we always expect of the Dharma, then we are using Dharma in ineffective methods. If we find Dharma difficult, then it is because we are unwilling to accept it. If we give up the Dharma, we are get deeper into our sufferings without respite. If we complain about Dharma it is a sign we are looking for blame in the wrong places and not within ourselves.~Tsem Rinpoche

Dear TR,
SO FANTASTIC! Me staring at rainbow. Love dm
****(April 22, 2012-Sunday-Kechara is very lucky. Many times when we are about to embark on something really beneficial or just finished something very good, we will often times witness a rainbow and there is no rain or clouds.Today again at KECHARA FOREST RETREAT after they finished their work in the evening another clear rainbow appeared in the clear sky reported to me by Datuk May and ten other Kecharians volunteering there today. See the beautiful picture of the rainbow...TR)

I prostrate to my Guru the consummate Lojong master who teaches us how to laugh at death by creating right causes n how to regret n cry at death by doing stupid things. Exciting indeed that we can do either.
I rather die w natural smile than a fake one made up by the embalmers.
Thank you for reminding we hv choice.
Gratefully yours

Death is exciting. It's when all the thìngs we did COME BACK TO US. And we can't sweet talk or seduce our way out. We have to face what we have done. Very exciting to see what's going to happen to us! Hello death, give me what I deserve!! Tsem Rinpoche
