Unsolved Mysteries – UFO’s & Me…

Jun 14, 2010 | Views: 329

Since I was very young, I was naturally drawn to phenomena that was not accepted by ‘mainstream’ public. That didn’t bother me. I was always the type of person that I did WHAT I FELT WAS RIGHT and not so much WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. Many of the things I was supposed to do didn’t make sense to me then and now. I am more patient with things I don’t agree with now then I was then though I must say. Must learn to tolerate early in life, less problems.

I have always studied up on Loch Ness, Findhorn, Ufo, Sasquatch, Nazca Lines, Incas, American Native Indian lore, Tibet, ghosts, astral travelling and the likes. I used to practise astral travelling nightly that I read up in a book. I also did meditations on Vajra Yogini I found in a book also when I was around 13 or so. No results for either one though as I am sure I was doing something wrong that the book didn’t fully explain. Anyway, I found out later I shouldn’t have done the Vajra Yogini meditations without permission.

I watched endless documentaries on these mysterious subjects and did quite a lot of reading. One of my favorite places was the library. I can spend a day there and not be bored. I would borrow 10-12 books every two weeks and read through most of them. I did that for years.  Or at least have a good look at the parts I was interested in before returning the book. I would borrow biographies, encyclopedias, Ghost stories, Magic, mysteries, Travel, Religions (my favorite), and reading up on cultures. I would go to libraries in other towns and borrow books because libraries had limits how many you can borrow at any one time. I didn’t like the limits. haha. I would even go to Flea Markets and second hand stores to buy books on various mysteries. I loved encyclopedias with color pictures. I would borrow from A-Z slowly.  I would spend evenings and weekends reading after homework. I would listen to the Beatles, John Lennon, Simon & Garfunkel and read.. sometimes paint or draw. I loved to draw mountains, lakes and huge trees. I was fanatical about drawing various Buddhas. I loved to draw yogis meditating in the mountains and gaining great realization or seeing the Yidam directly.  I read voraciously and absorbed the information fast. I was happy I could retain it.

My step-parents didn’t make things easy for me. But they left me alone to read. They wanted me to play soccer and sports. I hated sports. Any type of sports. They forced me to play soccer for like 6-7 years in a row in a huge soccer club with uniforms and all. Lots of kids. We’d have matches with other counties and towns. I NEVER SCORED ONE GOAL EVER. My step dad commented once all the boys run towards the ball, whereas I run away from it. I was thinking, I told you I hated soccor hundreds of times?? My coach stuck me as the goalie JUST ONCE. I let like 3 balls pass me in around half an hour!! Everyone gave me the evils, but I already warned my coach not to do so. His logic is I’m tall so I would be good. My logic is I don’t want my teeth knocked out for this silly game! Hehe. He never put me back in as goalie again. The day my father didn’t sign me up for soccer was one of the happiest days of my childhood. He wanted me to be Pele or something and I wanted to be Dalai Lama that time!! Talk about conflict of interest!  I still want to be like the Dalai Lama!

Anyways, I found these really cool videos of UFO footage and I thought you might be interested. Listen carefully to what they are saying and observe. It is one of the most convincing footages caught on film I have ever seen. These didn’t convince me that extraterrestrials existed because I know they do exist. Buddha mentioned clearly WE ARE NOT ALONE!!!

Enjoy and share with others. It is nice to rise above relationships, money, bills, eating, travelling and all the very normal, redundant traps we set for ourselves and think deeper. Look beyond. Think more. Keep your mind wondering, discovering and learning. Don’t be stuck where you are.

This video is perfect for alot of my students. It did cross my mind when some spaceships would come back and take back some of my students as I know they are NOT FROM HERE…hehehe.

Much Care,

Tsem Tulku

P.S. I have very varied interests. It isn’t just meditation, mantras, shambala, malas, auras, and enlightenment all the time. I have many interests and they are very wide. So I am going to blog about them and share. Each time you read my posts, a part of me is shared with you. That is nice. I am the only Tibetan Lama that blogs about UFO’s, but you know what, I never said I would fit the mould. I am different, ‘controversial’ by some, strange, not the typical lama if you will, unconventional, and just being myself. Some find me refreshing and some may not. But it’s ok. I am coming to terms with myself now too and you should too. Hehe.  I am not trying to be ‘different’. I just am I guess. But it is a harmless different. Maybe I am just waiting ….E.T. go home for me too???

I haven’t watched the vids yet as it is bed time for me here! But as i read through i felt that you have shared something of yourself with us, and to me it seems fair to share something of myself in return, I hope to meet you one day and to pay back in any way i can the benefit you (and all at Kechara) have been to me in showing me how to be a better person, to be myself but better. (still much to be done…)
    Thankyou Rinpoche
    Jon :-)

    Dear Rinpoche
Thank you for posting the videos. Growing up, i’ve always been drawn to the UFO,unexplained mysteries, aliens, religion, life after death section of the bookstore. I remember writing on aliens and people being abducted for a school project. the teacher thought i was abit off…well, i still am abit off. haha…
I do believe that there are other life forms outside of our solar system…there must be.
    much thanks

    Rinpoche,
TQ so much for all your teachings & sharings. Those were my fav subjects as a kid too. I’m still very much intrigued by the mysteries of it. Just a thought-I read that there are 6 realms-hell,hungry spirits,animals,human,demi-god,god. So where does UFO & aliens fall under?
It’s always so interesting to read your blog. Thank you for your unending contribution to all sentient beings. It inspires & moves me to come out of my laziness & selfishness.
    Endless thanks,
    Leong Li Li

I have always believed that this universe is very vast and mysterious with all kinds of possibilities. This makes life interesting too. Thanks for your sharing.
I was just wondering why u feel that some of your students and even yourself is not from here… where do you think you are from?
I myself feel sometimes that i have come back from a paradise. Though this is something that i have never shared with anyone who knows me personally. This is due to some very strong pullings i feel towards certain Buddha figures and also some very strong kind of longing to return there… am i just hallucinating.. maybe.

    Dear Leong Li,
Aliens can fall under the human realm. Not all humanoids need to look like us or live just on earth. There are so many planets for humans or humanoids to exist.
There are so many other habitable planets and solar systems that we cannot get to. Many beings abide there also. Earth is just a small speck.
See my post of Stephen Hawking and read what I wrote. Watch the video of Stephen Hawking I posted also.

    My Dear Betsy,
You can have any interest you like. It doesn’t matter what others think of your interests. Life is so short and we can’t live our lives for others. They can’t live our lives for us also. We just don’t harm and we can do what we like.
Much good luck to you and keep being different and keep up your wide interests. It just shows your mind is intelligent and inquisitive.

    Dear Firefly,
Of course my students and me are all from here!! Heheeh…It’s just a joke that we are so unique and different that we are maybe from another planet. Heheheh
Rest assured, we are all from here!!!

    Dear Tsem Tulku Rinpoche,
Thanks for your reply. I think you must be from Vajrayogini land… hahaha, don’t be humble

  11. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche on Jun 14, 2010 at 9:15 pm

    Dear firefly,
Hehe…from Vajra Yogini land? That land is called Kechara in sanskrit and Dakpo Kacho in Tibetan. Mother Vajra Yogini, Heruka and Yamantaka resides there.
Ok, I won’t be humble…I am from Kechara in Sunway Mas, Petaling Jaya…hehe
But this Kechara in Sunway Mas can be the gateway to the REAL Kechara Land where mother Vajra Yogini resides. I want everyone including you to get there.

    Dear Rinpoche,
It’s somewhat inspiring to read about Rinpoche’s interests, although for a moment i thought i was one of them aliens, then i read the comments and i was disappointed. now i realize my imagination can be that far off haha.
I havent watched the videos yet but i do believe in parallel universes that run concurrently with ours because many things we have in our world seem to be impossible to come from evolution alone, which means that somehow that their worlds are affecting us…just what i feel about the whole alien theory. maybe im thinking too much haha.

Actually Robert Thurman, of Tibet House, USA, Professor at Columbia University (Uma Thurman’s dad), has PodCast’ed about UFO’s. I don’t believe he is a Rinpoche though. What he said was, I am disappointed by our modern depiction of UFO’s. In Buddha’s time they were tall and beautiful and full of gems and precious stones beautiful from head to toe. I watch “Close encounters of the Third kind” and they all seem like frail little wimps. He said something about our modern culture being afraid of the ‘real deal’, in other words, we think we are so advanced but if we saw a 10 foot tall male ‘alien’ with beautiful angelic human features with enormous precious gems hanging, we would go crazy! Thurman said he was ‘disappointed’ when the alien comes out of the ship with his super skinny arms and legs (totally non-threatening) going Ahhhhhrrr-Ahhhh with its hands in front like a zombie. He said in Buddha’s time they were much more beautiful and worthy of envy. (and in my own words: hatred). I love Kechara!

  14. Bei Dawei on Jun 15, 2010 at 2:45 pm

    Rinpoche, a few comments:
    1. Are you aware that one of the first modern “UFO” sightings (avant la lettre) occurred on August 5, 1926, over the Humboldt Mountains in Amdo? A silver disk was spotted high in the air by members of the Nicholas Roerich expedition. It changed directions abruptly, then headed southwest (towards Lhasa?). Roerich mentions this in his travelogue, “Altai-Himalaya.” Notice that he does NOT identify it with an alien spacecraft–rather, the sighting is sandwiched in between discussion of lost ancient civilizations in the Gobi (from Theosophical lore).
    2. The popular perception of (and speculation about) “UFO’s” and alien contact has evolved considerably, with the stories of each era reflecting certain political and cultural themes of that era. For example, the idea that UFO’s are alien spacecraft came after World War II. For some time their occupants were assumed to be benign, but during the 1980′s–in the wake of books by Whitley Strieber and John Mack–aliens began to be portrayed as the more dangerous “grays” (who are said to abduct humans, perhaps with the connivance of human governments). This idea then spread to other countries, along familiar mass-media channels. Some writers suggest that discussion of space aliens (i.e., whether they are perceived as benign or not) reflects social attitudes to *human* “aliens” or foreigners.
Notice also the key role of movies and television in molding this popular consciousness: The Day the Earth Stood Still, Star Trek, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters and E.T., and the X-Files are all rather important influences.
Anyway, considering that the idea of UFO’s has evolved so much from the airships of a century ago, or the “things seen in the skies”* of the medieval era, the suspicion naturally arises that the entire phenomenon might be a product of human imagination. Alternatively, there might be an explanation other than space travel. (Apparently magnetism is capable of inducing visions of this nature, through its effects on the brain. Or perhaps the UFO’s are time travelers / extra-dimensional entities / unknown human spacecraft…etc.)
*(this is from the title of a key paper by Carl Jung, who sees them as similar to dreams or visions–I assume you’ve seen this)

I enjoyed your very well thought out comments very much. Obviously you have been thinking and participating in this post.
Please share with me more re Nicholas Roerich and the UFO he saw over Amdo. I have his books but haven’t read yet.
Please share more on Carl Jung’s key paper on this. Very interesting indeed. Looking forward to your post here.

Yes, I believe in parallel and non-parallel worlds. There is so many worlds out there.
Today’s scientists give a conservative calculations of 100 million livable planets out there. That on those planets there is very high chance for life forms.

    Rinpoche,
Thank you for sharing more memories of your yonger years.
    wow…
That footabll story you shared with us, I can relate to so well…
(sorry, I skip the UFO for a moment)
Eventhough my parent did not force me into sports, I HAD to “participate” to these weird game (I mean football) at school; it was very weird to me as a child, because my very friends from my class would suddenly turn into “monsters” on the field, very excited and calling -screaming- nasty names and ugly words at everyone, in such a boiling state of excitation.
I just never understood what “took” them all, I never got even a start of an “adrenaline” kick from a football game and, of course, I was very very very bad at it…
I was so bad at it, that my “friends” would scream louder and come to some kind of rage, this was just so mysterious and scary to me then!
I later came to expect such mysterious shifts or reactions from people.
So, my sport teacher tought (somehow out of dispair with me -I was probably as mysterious to him as he was to me) that perhaps I could make a good goal keeper, not too much running, and, of course, I was tall.
I did worse than letting balls pass, I actually got angry -eventually- at the weird energy that all other players seemed to throw at me; I could not take any more screaming, so I simply scored on my own goal and got very hilarious at the stunned and angry reaction of my team.
I remember that a couple of teachers had to rescue me from the “angry mob wanting to punch me”.
I believe my parents were told of this, and I am sorry now that it had to make them worried and concerned about my “anti-social” behavior.
The only good result I got out of this is that I got an official dispense from EVER playing football again through the hole primary school years (I must have made quite an impression!), and instead I was allowed to stay back in the class (alone) and make pretty drawings, that truly felt like a reward…
So much for football… Maybe I am from another planet after all, LOL…

    Rinpoche,
Nicholas Roerich (Nikolai Konstantinovitch Rerikh) was a Russian artist and esoteric writer who between 1924 and 1929 organized a U.S.-flagged scientific expedition from British India through Xinjiang, Altai, Mongolia, Amdo, and back through Tibet (bypassing Lhasa, on orders of its government). The unofficial purpose of the expedition was aimed at finding Shambhala. Also, it has recently been discovered that Roerich made a secret side-trip to newly-Communist Moscow, seeking Soviet support for the founding of a new nation in Central Asia (whose proposed borders were unclear).
In “Altai-Himalaya” Roerich reports sighting “”something big and shiny reflecting the sun, like a huge oval moving at great speed. Crossing our camp the thing changed in its direction from south to southwest. And we saw how it disappeared in the intense blue sky. We even had time to take our field glasses and saw quite distinctly an oval form with shiny surface, one side of which was brilliant from the sun.” (Not sure of your pagination, but keeping his route in mind, flip through until you reach Amdo / August 5 1926, and you’ll find it.)
Again, pay attention to the context, which involves Theosophical discussion of lost ancient civilizations similar to Atlantis. Roerich and his wife founded Agni Yoga (or the Teaching of Living Ethics), a Theosophical offshoot which recognizes the writings of Mme Blavatsky alongside those of Mrs. Roerich as genuine messages from a hidden lodge of Masters who live in Shambhala.
Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist who parted with his mentor Freud over the sexual theory, and Jung’s interest in psychic or esoteric subjects. His basic theory–spread out over numerous writings–involves archetypes of the collective unconscious, as revealed through dreams and visionary writings (such as religious material). Jung wrote a long paper called (in English) “Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies,” in which he discusses the modern UFO sightings (e.g. Kenneth Arnold) as mass social phenomena similar to medieval Marian or angelic apparitions and the like. For Jung, the shape of the saucer is a kind of Mandala, an image of wholeness and completion, which appears to comfort us during times of war. In other words, the vision comes in response to deep social and psychological upheaval.
Incidentally, I neglected to mention “War of the Worlds” on my earlier list. The H.G. Wells novel was an early (if not the earliest) iteration of the “alien invaders) idea, while the Orson Welles radio play is an early example of popular fear of aliens (since American audiences who tuned in late to the newscast-style performance did not realize that the “Martian invasion” was fictional).

  19. Bei Dawei on Jun 16, 2010 at 7:45 am

Oops, I neglected to provide the other Roerich quote, which is from his essay “Shambala” (available online at http://www.agniyoga.org ) There he writes of “…A shiny body flying from north to south. Field glasses are at hand. It is a huge body. One side glows in the sun. It is oval in shape. Then it somehow turns in another direction and disappears in the southwest.”

  20. Bei Dawei on Jun 16, 2010 at 8:02 am

One more note: There is a story among the Roerich people to the effect that the purpose of the expedition was not so much to *find* Shambhala as to return a certain stone (a meteorite fragment with mystical properties) to it. The story goes that the Masters had lent the fragment to the League of Nations in support of the cause of peace. Upon the failure of that project, Roerich was enlisted to return the stone to Shambhala–or so the story goes. Anyway, the larger stone itself is called the “Gift of Orion” and is said to not only be of extraterrestrial origin (as meteorites customarily are), but of *intelligent* extraterrestrial origin.

Thank you Rinpoche for ur selflessness throughout this lifetime. I find u so inspiring being born a Prince yet choosing to spend this incarnation with those of us who truely need u. Ur compassion and love for each and every being is beautiful. What a bonus that u open our eyes to truth in creative ways that make u relavent to spreading dharma in the west as well as in the east. Thank you seems inadaquate but it is my offering to you Your Eminence.

Dear Rinpoche, my husband is a STRONG believer of aliens! In fact he believes gods/deities/buddhas were aliens from other planets. He enters (and loves it) into endless debates with whoever bring up this subject with him. I will share this blog with him and am sure he will be too happy to read! His favourite question is “planet earth is experiencing increase in population, where does all these additional/new souls come from?” Fr Siong Woan

    Dears,
I belief i had been visited by an alien about 10 or more years ago.
I was asleep in my bedroom, lights on, suddenly i awoke though body munscles paralysed, and saw a black dark silhoutte figure with large purple eyes at the foot of my bed staring at me! It looked quite typical like how aliens are usually depicted.
Anyway i was very afraid but could not scream (paralysed) and i closed me eyes and prayed for a long while. I remember the radio was emitting noise, however I later discovered the radio was not switched on ???
Well, thats my encounter… in Pj, Malaysia!
Thats the only encounter i had with whats popularly called aliens. I have had other encounters too but they might be aliens or not (since i felt them instead of saw)

Ok, I have finally found something in common between my dad and Rinpoche. My dad loves UFOs, Loch Ness, and all these mysteries. He even took us all to Loch Ness and we sat there waiting for hours for Nessie to appear. Of course, Nessie did not appear. I had just turned 18 years old then. We had a great family holiday around Scotland. One of my favourite memories. Then while I was studying in the USA, he made me buy him all kinds of UFO videos and documentaries :)

    (Talk with HH Dalai Lama,
    http://www.berzinarchives.com/web/en/archives/advanced/kalachakra/attending_kalachakra_initiation/question_sessions_hh/question_hh_initiation_01.html)
Berzin: Is it helpful to explain about Shambhala?
His Holiness: Certainly. Where do you think it is?
Berzin: I don’t quite know. Serkong Rinpoche said it was not on earth, but could perhaps be on another world where flying saucers come from. This is because the texts speak of people coming from Shambhala on flying vehicles. They come from Shambhala to check our situation. Several cultures among the indigenous people of South America and South Africa also have myths like this, that visitors came long ago from outer space and taught them calendar-making and astronomy. Perhaps they came from Shambhala.
His Holiness: From the point of view of Buddhism, Shambhala is a pure land (dag-zhing), like Sukhavati, Tushita, and Khachari (Dakini-land).
Berzin: Isn’t Shambhala a human realm?
His Holiness: If it’s a pure land, it doesn’t have to be a god realm. There are some pure lands where humans can go. Even non-Buddhists can reach them and once there, proceed on the spiritual path.
Berzin: Is Shambhala included in samsara or nirvana? Serkong Rinpoche said it is a samsaric realm.
His Holiness: It seems to be in samsara. However, once one gets to this samsaric place, one’s mind and heart naturally develop much more rapidly. It is probably more like a human realm within in the cycle of samsaric existence where special people live who have built up a great store of positive force (merit, positive potential).
Berzin: So it is not technically a pure land, but just similar to a pure land?
His Holiness: It is not a pure land in the sense of being a god realm. It is a human realm, but probably also a pure land.
Berzin: It is not on earth?
His Holiness: It is not on earth. If it were, we should be able to find it. However, it is probably in our universe, but we need pure karma to reach it. I wonder if we can really get there directly by just some sort of mechanical vehicle, like a space ship. Why I think like that, I don’t know. But, what (the Third Panchen Lama) Panchen Palden-yeshey (Pan-chen dPal-ldan ye-shes) said about it makes things a bit complicated. In his Guidebook for the Path to Shambhala (Shambhala lam-yig), he wrote that if you do an intense meditation retreat, then you can actually see deities and they will give you help to go to Shambhala. He wrote like that. Therefore, it is not simply an ordinary physical journey.
Berzin: Serkong Rinpoche told me that his father Serkong Dorjechang had gone to Shambhala and had brought back fruit and flowers, which they had in their house.
His Holiness: I take safe direction (refuge) from him! Panchen Palden-yeshey also went to Shambhala. Some other learned masters went as well. There is an account of Taranatha going to Shambhala, but I think that was in a dream body. However, it is not on this round earth. It is probably a pure land with humans similar to those on earth. It is difficult to say.
Berzin: The Kalachakra texts speak of the larger and smaller Jambudvipas (Southern Continents). On the northern half of the smaller one, the texts list six lands going northwards, one of which is Shambhala.
His Holiness: That is difficult. If we speak in terms of that, then Shambhala would have to be a place on this earth. There is also mention in the texts of Potala Mountain in the south, the land of Ugyan (Skt. Oddiyana) in the west, the Five-Peaked Mountain in the east, and Shambhala in the north.
Berzin: Serkong Rinpoche had said that of these, some are on earth and some are not.
His Holiness: Precisely, that is why. There are two for each: the actual ones and similar ones that represent and substitute for them. For instance, according to the scholar Gendun-chopel (dGe-’dun chos-’phel), Ugyan is in Sindhi [Swat Valley in Pakistan]. Today, it is a Muslim area. It is not completely clear, but as for the Copper-Colored Mountain that Guru Rinpoche went to in Ugyan, that probably is in an uncontaminated pure land.
Now as for Potala Mountain in the south, then as a substitute for it, there is one in the south of India. But, then there is also the Potala Mountain of Avalokiteshvara, which is in a pure land. As for the Five-Peaked Mountain, there is the usual place in China [Wutaishan] with this name as an actual place in the east, but also there is the pure land of Manjushri with the same name.
Thus, it is quite probable that Shambhala is also a pure land like this, with some location representing it. There is precedent for it being so. However, it cannot be found in any place. There are many reasons and signs for saying that it exists, but because it isn’t in this world, then except for it being an uncontaminated pure land, there is nothing else it could be referring to in the texts.
Berzin: And what about the talk of flying saucers?
His Holiness: It could be said that they have a connection with Shambhala. Definitely, there are other beings in the universe. There are other kinds of sentient beings and it is decidedly so that they are on other worlds, not just on our world. That is definite. There are many galaxies.
Now, Shambhala is included in our galaxy, perhaps even in our solar system, since the texts say it is included in Jambudvipa [our world-system]. Thus, it is talking of a pure land in our world-system, however large our system might be, where only sentient beings with pure karma can go and where there are sentient beings with human bodies.
Berzin: In the West, we have talk of Shangrila. Is this related?
His Holiness: It is a pure place, isn’t it? I don’t know, but probably it is. The name signifies a pure place, so I think the name probably came originally from Shambhala.

This is casting a very interesting light on the topic of aliens, and alien worlds/planes/systems.
Other realms, other dimensions, other experiences of existence into which one is projected by its karma cannot be limited to this planet in the way we see it on “Geographic Channel.”
So are aliens not from Mars, but friendly humanoid Dharma brothers from Shambhala?
I like the idea, somehow re-assuring!

Thanks for sharing this Rinpoche! It is great to see someone you look up to have similar interests:)
    I was wondering…
If we assume that there are other planets with intelligent life, does more than one Buddha manifest during the same age on other planets, or does the same Buddha manifest everywhere at the same time, or are we the only planet lucky enough to have Buddha’s teachings for this age?
Maybe this is a silly question, but it is something I have been turning over in my head…
    Thanks :)

The videos on the UFO’s were so very cool. The Universe is so vast in all directions, can the universe be so empty of life apart from planet earth. Even one of the greatest scientist in the world Stephen Hawkins mentioned that its wishful thinking for us to think we are unique or alone in this universe.
Probability of having life in other planets or solar systems is very high. This is also validated by what the Buddha spoke about, there are countless worlds that beings can exist and humans are one of the more primitive ones. I find it hard to subscribe to a thinking that earth is the only place that life exists in this whole wide universe.

I am also naturally drawn to all sorts of phenomena like Loch Ness Monsters, UFO’s etc. I really wish I could do Vajrayogini practises one day. I would like to know how to find books that are related to atral travelling. May I have some reccomendations please. Documenteries on this subject are interesting for me too. I agree with Rinpoche that the best place to be is in the Library when you are bored. Rinpoche is very good at reading as it can provide knowledge. I dislike sports too. I also want to be like the Dalai Lama too !
Thank you for the lovely foootages of UFOs I find them totally believeable. I do not think we were ever alone.
The picture of the Abductee getting examined by the UFOs look scary. I am lucky not to be him!

  30. Peter on Jul 7, 2010 at 6:37 pm

    Terima Kasih Rinpoche!
I was brought up to believe that these are all devil, devil, devil..
And then much later, anything that does not resemble Jesus, Mary and Joseph or the Vatican, its devil devil devil…
Now as a Buddhist, I have read in scriptures that there is nothing outside of the Mind…everything that is in this world of phenomena is within the Mind…
So from the devil world view to a world wide view world in a Mind..
What if one were to meet one of these states of existence, in this case ‘aliens’, what would you have said to them as a Buddhist?
    Hmmm…..

  31. Michael Kuang on Jul 7, 2010 at 11:48 pm

Sometimes it really makes me wonder if UFO really does exist. Maybe we are still waiting for the signal being sent out from million of light years away. The Buddha of this eon did mention that there is life beyond this world along the Universe. The Buddha don’t need the Gigantic Telescope or even Communication Satellite to know this. We are still waiting for the day to receive signal or perhaps we might not even have a chance to witness the very first evidence of extraterrestrial in this lifetime. Scientists, Astrobiologists , and many people have spend so much time and effort looking for evidence. Why not practice Dharma, it is proven by the Buddha. I guess my only best shot at this lifetime is start practicing, and hopefully along the way get a glimpse of what lies beyond our Earth. When I think of this, Pink Floyd’s Time comes playing in my mind.

Thank you Rinpoche for this post. I like the stories very much and very enjoyable to read about what Rinpoche is interested in or not bothered about. I particularly like the soccer story. Though I’ve heard it before, it still makes me laugh each time I read it…that must have been quite a sight to see Rinpoche dodging the ball instead of going for it! Hehe…
Another point which Rinpoche wrote…”I was always the type of person that I did WHAT I FELT WAS RIGHT and not so much WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.” Rinpoche was not rebellious but new what that what mainstream people engaged themselves with is sheer pointless. I wish more parents will read this and NOT insist to MOLD their kids’ lives similar to theirs when they know it hasn’t brought happiness!

  33. Elena on Jul 9, 2010 at 3:49 am

Ooooh I loooooove anything to do with unexplained phenomena. As a child, I’d watch documentaries about them all the time, and research online about yetis and whatnot. Even back then, before I knew anything about the different realms of existence, I always thought aliens could exist because our universe is so great. With so many planets, I figured it would be pretty arrogant of us to think that we are the only beings that exist. And even on this earth, it’s more than just humans who exist – animals live right next to us, and new ones are being discovered all the time so why can’t yetis and the abominable snowman and big foot all be possibilities?
And geez! Talk about karmic imprints. Even as young as 13, Rinpoche had already come across Vajrayogini and her meditations…and wanted to do her meditations! What were we doing when we were 13? Definitely not that!

  34. Leonglili on Jul 9, 2010 at 12:04 pm

Thanks again rinpoche for clarifying aliens are human realm. So limited was my thinking that humans have to look exactly like us to be categorized under ‘human’ category. A monkey does not have to look like a tiger to be categorized as an animal. Now I understand I’m just 1 of species in the human catergory.
I just love UFO & aliens so much, while I was younger I used to have dreams about myself being an alien and living in the alien community that conducts a lot of experiments. I wonder if it’s fantasy or recalling some past life memories? Those dreams were very real to me back then when I was a kid so I’m still waiting for my UFO to appear :)
I’ll read up on Stephen Hawkings and leave my comments there.

  35. Lew, Kwan Leng on Jul 9, 2010 at 2:20 pm

It has never crossed my mind that Lama will ever introduce UFO to me :) But then again, Rinpoche is “special” :)
Though I have not seen an UFO before, I hope to meet them one day, but hopefully they will let me come back alive :)
I strongly believe that there are many living beings in outer space (I don’t quite like the word ‘alien’ because I felt they are actually the same with us).
The Steven Hawking videos are also very interesting and intriguing. Again, never expected that from a Lama :)

    Dear Tsem Tulku Rinpoche !!!

I just read your note. One evening I had this feeling “The aliens are coming” and turned it into a little song and videoclip, realizing that they may already be amongst us !!! As you also like animals, you may enjoy it:

So if Aliens are in the human realm… They can attain enlightenment and become a Buddha in their current form. They do not need a higher or lower rebirth? They can become enlightened beings, and therefore, teach Dharma. That is NOT the way I thought about it before…

Perhaps they came to earth to learn the Dharma? Or Stephen Hawking is right and they are going to take our resources and kill us, then move on the next planet. I didn’t believe him when I read that, I disagree.

I have always considered them to be in the Jealous God realm. Very long life, or something, but not eons long like long-life gods. Hmm…

  39. Knut Eggers on Sep 28, 2010 at 2:50 am

I will watch all the videos. I love you, Tsem Tulku, I really do, but right now I am not a good student and have a glass of red wine. The vadjra yoghini tea ceremony helped me much, do you think I should stop it and maybe instead of high aspirations rather going to love my future wife? I was so phascinate of Vadjra Yoghini, I wanted a stue, I can’t afford it, the diamond way buddhist want me to join their club, I’d rather stay with you, I want to be a vegetarian and eat no mil and no eggs, no alcohol no sugar, I want to marry but I’m too afraid…I can’t see my path, except I understand that I desperately want to marry her. If I had the choice between her my beloved darling and Vadjra Yoghini, Vadjra Yoghini is the definite looser.

An Ani-lags shared the below with me. I have problem understanding most of them, since I lacked heaps of background knowledge on the subject.

“The Truth About A Semitic People” http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/esp_autor_lauraknight04.htm

By the way, if there are Seven levels or kinds of energy, could UFO be the third kind? Or fourth? Since by seeing the “spaceship” means it is being in contact from considerably close distance. But not as close as the fourth level, unless someone claim to have been abducted? Like the movie “The Fourth Kind” starring by Milla Jovovich.

How should I correlate the “Seven levels” and the “Ten dharma reamls”?

    Thank you for sharing!

From Sengpiow: Yesterday, Tsem Rinpoche went for a morning walk in a park near his residence, and saw a dying fish in the stream. Rinpoche went near the fish to recite mantra and blow the mantra on the fish, so that the fish can take a good rebirth by the blessing of the mantras…Then Rinpoche saves some trapped birds and bat! watch the video here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvh-r3cW2zw

Today’s advice is meant to help you and arm you against negative energies. I have come across many types of spirit or black magic afflictions. Some were genuine, some were paranoia or people wanting to blame their failures on something else. If powerful positive beings exist, then why not negative. If good beings help you then negative would harm. The world is filled with both types in humans and non-humans. Depending on our karma we can attract both. Better to be safe. Do our prayers to Tsongkapa/Setrap daily. It can only help never harm. It can prevent in some cases. I wish everyone safety, luck, merits and spiritual growth. TR

    (Wednesday, May 16. 2012 03:45 PM)
Negative energies or beings that follow you back from ‘dirty’ places or places of vice where the owners may keep spirits for success can be attracted to you and follow you home. It may not affect you as your merits are ok..but it can affect a family member or friend. They could create disharmony, fighting for no reasons. accidents, fear, lack of sleep, loss of appetite, change in moods, mood swings, anger, electrical problems, loss of memory (severe cases). I have encountered many of these sorts in the last 20 years of meeting people. Some ppl had pots and pans banged at night in their homes, or when they are in bed, something is always touching them. Some of these cases solved when they followed suggestions to overcome. Some do not follow and the situations gets worse. So if should protect and bless ourselves with GURU YOGA OF TSONGKAPA/MIGTSEYMA/SETRAP PRACTICE DAILY. We have nothing to lose and it increases wisdom, patience and merits. TR
************ Even when you don’t need to go far, sometimes we go to certain hawker places, wet markets, places that slaughter alot of animals (very dirty and negative energy), places with gambling, or very down places like clubs (drinking/heartbreaks/sadness), or places that have alot of fighting or pain, death, hospitals, funerals,etc.. we should bless ourselves before going and after going…sometimes we are sensitive and when we go we can attract wrong energies or negative spirits. They can follow us and hide in our homes for years or months before they ‘appear’. It can affect our family too. So very good to do GURU YOGA OF TSONGKAPA DAILY, FOLLOWED BY MIGTSEYMA AND THEN CONCLUDE WITH SETRAP PRAYERS/MANTRA AND BLACK TEA. You shouldn’t think prayers of these sorts daily is a chore or lots of work…you should think it is protection. If you are affected it might take months or years to ‘clean’ you again..so it is worth it to do your protection daily and have your pendants to bless you. TR

When we travel alot, we pass through many places, many buildings, many vehicles, sit in many seats, stay at many places. Hundred or thousands of beings used these items and places.. All these may have negative energy or residual energy of the previous person that can affect you if you are sensitive. Sometimes if you are very sensitive, in some cases, these energies can make you blur in which case you are considered polluted. It is very important then to take holy water daily. Wash with holy water (can get from Pastors or Ladrang) and recite Manjushri’s praise daily 3x and mantra 5 or more rounds till you feel cleared. You may do wrathful black Manjushri or peaceful Manjushri. Up to you. Before you travel it is good to bless your clothes, bags, luggage and personal items with GURU YOGA OF TSONGKAPA/MIGTSEYMA/ SERKYM OF SETRAP. After reciting the migtseyma/setrap mantra, blow on your clothes and items and feel you are protected. This would safeguard you before you travel. TR
***************** Also excellent and modern are Buddha pendants. After you pick a Buddha pendant, have one of the Pastors of Kechara bless the pendant. Then keep the pendant well and wear is excellent. If you do not have access to a Pastor, then keep your pendant on your shrine and do GURU YOGA OF TSONGKAPA/MIGTSEYMA/SETRAP SERKYM to consecrate your pendants. After consecration one wears the pendant that looks like a beautiful piece of jewellery but actually they are powerful protection pendants because they contain the consecrated image of a powerful manifestation of enlightenment-a Buddha. One can have a few pendants is ok. But one should get the best pendant one can from made from the best material and think the good material is offered to Buddha. If the pendants get stained due to sweat, then very good to clean thinking you are purifying your karma. One should make sure all your loved ones wear a blessed pendant. If Buddhas are beneficial on your shrine, very good on your body also. TR
*********************** Chakras are good to keep. Chakras are special mantras, mandalas and prayers of a certain Buddha. Then it is folded then sealed with 5 colored strings during pujas. Puja and consecration of the chakras can take 1-3 days where the diety is invited and abide within each chakra. Chakras should not get wet, otherwise they can be kept anywhere or worn anywhere. Wearing chakras is very good, but to fully activate their energy, one should recite the mantra, prayer and liturgy of one’s diety. If you don’t have a specific deity, you do GURU YOGA OF TSONGKAPA/MIGTSEYMA/SETRAP and this will ‘activate’ the power of the chakra fully. It is also very good to do this. Chakras are wonderful gifts. They an be worn, kept in car, office, wallet or anyhwere..They are very holy and very effective. TR
    ************
Most important when you travel alot or stay in many hotels, keep a dukkar or hayagriva chakra with you. It is good to bless the room with recitation of GURU YOGA OF TSONGKAPA. Recite migtseyma 21x and do do black tea to your protector. Then go to sleep. It is a good way to purify the room with the above. If you do it wilth faith with tremendous confidence you will be protected from negative energies. This is a easy practice to protect yourself when you have to travel alot and stay in many different types of hotels. Many people stay in hotels with many types of energies. Sometimes the residual energy will stay and affect another person. Very good to do this. TR
************* When people sleep they should not have offering bowls, empty altar cups, empty plates, cups and bowls around one’s bed. Also when you sleep, try not to place your hands on your chest. These actions attract one type of spirit. Once they come, they hang around for quite a while. Make sure your altar does not have empty items on it. Make sure there are not empty items around you when going to sleep or around your bed. TR

I haven’t lived in Gaden since 1992 when I was sent to Malaysia. I love Gaden and loved so much living there. I like so many things about Gaden. Conversations would not be lonely and easy. Whatever I talk about the monks immediately understand. I do not have to face ‘opposition’ , doubts, hundreds of questions, and every detail simple about the dharma or dharma work has to be explained. I miss that so much. I am not lonely for company, but I am lonely for familiarity very much. I was very content, at peace and in my element in Gaden. I never knew or imagined I would have to go to Malaysia, stay and take on heavy responsibilities. I am not complaining but I love Gaden, the monks, my teachers, the great masters, the senior monks whom I have many friends. I miss them so much. So so much. I love and respect the great old monks, Rinpoches and spectacular Geshes. Gaden was a city of practitioners and I was home. Lord Tsongkapa’s presence pervades the whole Gaden. TR

I had asked him to learn up how to make a large outdoor stupa from senior monks a few months ago. He told me he is learning and it is not difficult for him at all. I am looking forward to building our Vajra Yogini stupa in the future and he will assist us. It will be my/our first outdoor stupa in this life. Very beneficial and purifying for us. TR

Heruka! We say we want to improve yet we don't hold our vows. We promise to keep our samaya, yet our promise to our earlier promises laxed. We want to experience only good results yet we hold onto our face. We want wealth, yet we give nothing. We want success, yet we offer tiny offerings to the Three Jewels. We say we have great faith in our Guru, yet when his assignments are difficult we run. We say we want a good rebirth yet all our actions are motivated by self gain. Heruka, Heruka, Heruka, how are we to recieve your blessings when our three doors are closed tightly by selfishness, ignorance and anger?~Tsem Rinpoche

Bryan gave me an incredible MOTHER'S DAY GIFT. It is so auspicious. He had someone draw HH Kyabje Zong Rinpoche's sacred face onto the body of Buddha Vajradharma. Buddha Vajradharma is the form Buddha takes to teach the immaculate and fautless tantra of Vajra Yogini. In Vajra Yogini's tantra and meditations, you must visualize your guru in the form of Vajradharma to make offerings both inner, outer & secret offerings daily to one's tantric guru & to meditate on Him in that form. It is very integral part of the practice. If you do the meditations well on your guru in this particular form during the practice of the sadhana..you can gain tremendous realizations and control over one's mind to leave the body when you want. So getting this picture today was an omen if Kecharians fulfill their responsibilities, then Vajra Yogini's practice will spread in this region. Very good omen. I feel this strongly. Bryan really planned out this gift & surprised me!! I will put in Chamang Ladrang in the future. THANK YOU BRYAN!!TR

Back in New Jersey over 30 years ago, there lived a lady down the street who was also a student of my teacher. Her name is Carmen (she is a nun now and her ordination name is: Ani Thupten). She had a nice size library of books and many dharma books. I loved the Dharma books!! I would spend so much time browsing and getting snippets of each book from Carmen. I use to ride by bike down to chat with her and borrow her books and it took me like 5 mins by bike..She lived on the same street. I would read dharma books voraciously and write down my questions. I would call Carmen almost daily for years to ask her to clarify the readings I had questions on. She would spend hours on a phone with me answering questions never once losing patience. I learned so much from her. She had vast dharma knowledge, very devoted to our teacher and would do her meditations and extensive sadhanas daily. She would join in all the dharma classes and pujas at our nearby Kalmuck Buddhist Temple. She was such a good dharma friend and I enjoyed her company very much. I wanted to be like her to have the freedom to study and practice dharma. When I recievd my first initiation by our teacher at the temple, Carmen sat right next to me on the front row. Thrilling!! After initiation we would have ten days of explanations (commentary) from our teacher His Eminence Kensur Losang Tharchin Rinpoche. I was so excited and deeply happy to get commentary from our great and knowledgable teacher. What I did not understand, I would of course consult Carmen who is much more advanced and taught me patiently after each day’s teachings. Around 15 years ago Carmen came to India and I travelled with her to holy Bodhgaya, Varanasi and Dharamsala. I escorted her to these places. Since then I have not met up with her. But I know she is fine. Around two years back I sent her a three foot Vajra Yogini statue as a gift from me. Carmen received the statue and was very happy. It was my offering to her for so much kindness shown me when I was a child. I wish so much she can visit Malaysia. She would be happy. We all want to be a part of something big and with good results. But the only way we can be a part of that is if we work hard together with the other members of our Kechara. The time will pass. It can pass with you taking on difficulties or it can pass with you doing nothing. I feel it's better to work hard now and enjoy later than to enjoy nothing now and then end up nowhere later. Prayers and dedications are ok, but hard work must be part of the prayer. Tsem Rinpoche

His Holiness the Dalai Lama seated here with His sacred mother. A mother who gives birth to great beings like Shakyamuni, Tsongkapa, Dalai Lama, Panchen Lama, Trijang Rinpoche, etc must be a Buddha Herself, a highly realized Dakini, a powerful practitioner, or a lady who made prayers in previous lives to provide others with great dharma in one way or another. A lady of great spiritual merit or virtue.. I wanted to share this photo with you because if I ever met His Holiness' mother, I would prostrate to Her immediately. Beautiful picture. His Holiness is not ordinary for sure and neither could a being who gave birth to Him. Tibetans always said she was very saintly, gentle, simple and deeply spiritual. During Her lifetime many went to recieve Her blessings..Tsem Rinpoche

It's very revealing how when you give, offer and have something for them, they crowd around smiling, happy and easy. The minute you ask them to give something, contribute or really help out, they totally disappear. Handphones shut. No replies. No sound. As if you they never knew you. People like that make themselves 2nd rate, find 1st rate people to work with and move on. Recently I encountered some students like that!~ Tsem Rinpoche

When I was in Thubten Dhargye Ling centre with the great Master Geshe Tsultrim Gyeltsen in Los Angeles, on the main altar was this poster size printed framed picture of His Holiness meditating. I noticed a gentle glow around His Holiness the Dalai Lama's head and body. It has been my favorite picture of His Holiness ever since then which was in the 80's. I found it again today and I share with all of you. May the ordinary and ultimate purposes of His Holiness' incarnation on this earth bless us, nurture us and purify us. Tsem Rinpoche

She works in Kechara Soup Kitchen and Ladrang (Haven). She comes in everyday and takes charge of my kitchen where I stay together with Levi. She makes sure we have the groceries, helps to plan and cook, clean and restock our pantry here...she makes me all types of healthy and delicious herbal teas I drink throughout the day everyday...This morning she was so thoughtful. She bought me Vegetarian Indian food...yummy. I love Indian breakfast..I like Indian food alot. It is very nice. She comes in daily to join Levi to prepare food for me and our team here where I stay. But the people are every enthusiastic. 4. Pastor Chia was here to brief and lead the prayer. We introduce to the people our Kechara Pastor. Sound new to them but they can see that the Pastor is someone in a highly position to deliver spiritual talk or ritual. 5. There are some new faces that join us today. Last night between 300-400 persons congregated at Kechara while I gave a talk to them on 'making a choice' and 'the power and purpose of stupas'. The talk has been taped and will be blogged once tape is ready. The talk was two hours and it flowed well for me although I had very little sleep. Towards the end of the talk I gave refuge vows to 100 new persons from different countries for this. When everything was done, I met up with a group of 15 and 5 from Shanghai. Had a nice dharma talk with them on how to make a centre grow and harmony. Passed out nice dharma gifts to all the visitors so they don't go home empty handed. Also seperately met some directors and movie producers that attended the talk and sought private time with me..these producers and directors are very well known locally. One is from Hong Hong. Got home around 5Am and saw so many gifts from people. Did a Manjushri dedication for all the people who offered gifts to me on Wesak day in gratitude. Also some people from Europe called in to Kechara to arrange flowers to be given to me last night. That was very sweet. I have so many flowers now..over 70 bouquets I would...guess. They have all been offered up on the shrine. Thank you. TR (May 5, 2012)

Karma exists and created constantly by our actions. Karma created in the past is fertile and will open up when the situation arises. We should never relax and think everything will be alright when there is so much volatile latent karma like a huge volcano temporarily dormant. We can do something about it though. We can 'manipulate' karma and here's how: http://blog.tsemtulku.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/kechara-13-depts/what-are-pujas-about-do-take-a-good-read.html

If we always do not understand Dharma, then that is a sign of not studying. If we always blame Dharma, it is a sign we do not know what dharma really is. If we always expect of the Dharma, then we are using Dharma in ineffective methods. If we find Dharma difficult, then it is because we are unwilling to accept it. If we give up the Dharma, we are get deeper into our sufferings without respite. If we complain about Dharma it is a sign we are looking for blame in the wrong places and not within ourselves.~Tsem Rinpoche

If we still pursue relationships why hasn't it worked in the past for us? If we are still looking for it and still haven't found it yet, then we must examine what is it in us that doesn't obtain it. If we are in a relationship and we feel stuck, trapped or disenchanted, isn't that a message from our wisdom deep in us we need to achieve something higher? Go for more than finding comfort in the lonliness of false company already.. Contemplate. Tsem Rinpoche

I didnt ask andrew to work with workers, just oversee. But he doing the work himself for days now. Am filling up the pool at haven and andrew's in the pool working hard w the workers. I like when ppl swallow their ego n just do anything necessary to get the job done. Tr
