Gamera?? No, it’s Turtles in Tsem Ladrang…
In Tsem Ladrang we also have two large turtles and plenty of small ones.
Here is Kadro (female) on the right and Menlha (male) on the left. They are abot one feet in length. They are big.
I had a Buddha Saraswati put near them so they can be blessed everyday.
Special house made for them on the left and pool and a long walkway. They can walk to the Aviary also. They have their own walkway to excercise, run and play.
They get fresh fruits and vegetables lovingly prepared by the Tsem Ladrang Students.
Here they are again enjoying their pool. They love it.
Animals are great and we have plenty in Tsem Ladrang. Students will come to volunteer to help take care of them often.
Yes you figured it out, I LOVE ANIMALS.
Tsem Tulku

It is already a mini Animal Sanctuary as it is – with dogs, birds, turtles and “munsters” on two legs – yes, I do mean the students. Myself included, of course. Definitely a mega “munster” myself.
Animals Sanctuary are so good. I wish make one one day, with all kind of animals. I am happy to see Kandro with new friends ! If one day I can come in Maleysia I should be really happy to come help for the animal care
Another entry with one of our animal sanctuary stars, love it
!
By the way , contrary to what people think, Menlha & Kandro are really fast! They can travel to the end of the walkway (aviary) in 2 minutes! No joke! You should come see for yourself!
Everytime i visit Menlha & Kadro, they are asleep..they don’t move though i’ve heard so many stories of how fast they can move! I wanted to watch them eat, but they just soak in their cooling pool of water, all looking very peaceful and contented.
The area where they live has been done up so well and is always kept very clean as you can see in the pictures. Kudos to all the ladrang staff who takes care of the animals. This is truly a skillful method Rinpoche uses to teach his students to care without having any expectations.
When you enter Tsem Ladrang you will find this house is different from the other neighbouring houses. The first thing you would see is an aviary full of colourful birds in a big netted spaciously sprawled garden in the front of the house. Next to the avairy you can see two small little houses which is built for two big turtles to live. The turtles have hard covers that looks like two big rocks in the garden. Rinpoche gave the two turtles tibet names Menlha and Kadro. You may think they are very slow but they can go faster than what you think. Just like the tortoise and the hare race. In the end the tortoise won the race.
