Dear friends,
You know I am very interested in mysteries of our planet as I have explained in my previous blog posts under Mysteries Category.
I have watched countless documentaries on Sasquatch, Bigfoot, the Skunk Ape, and the Yeti of the Himalayas. They facinate me tremendously and I believe they exist. In Tibet it is common knowledge that they exist.
My assistant Monlam is from Tibet. On his journey by foot from Lhasa to Nepal, he came across a Yeti, very tall, brown and strong looking walking near trees. He was not afraid as Yetis are common sight in Tibet even today. Monlam told me all of this very casually because it was no big deal for him, but it is exciting for me to hear and have someone who had an actual sighting right under my roof.
This is a must watch video. It is based on a true story and has been acted out but very good. What I like about this exploration is that they went to Ape Canyon deep in the mountains. Ape canyon is a place described by Native American Indians as pure Bigfoot territory. The Sasquatches mark the boundaries of Ape Canyon by snapping huge thick trees in half ten feet off the ground. You can see clearly it will take great strength and height to reach these trees. The trees are broken and left connected but splintered as a sign that is their territory. Many sightings have occured in that area. I find that very interesting.
I really love these shows from the 1970′s. They have a great appeal and earthy real feeling.

This is a genuine Bigfoot calling. It was recorded by a group of campers who had heard strange sounds and had taped this. It has been examined by voice experts who says that it has not been tampered with. The voice is from no known species of animals. Also it doesn’t not match a human voice. The experts does not say it is Bigfoot as they have nothing to compare it with, but it matches no known vocals.
Do listen to it as it is very haunting. I had it as my handphone ringtone for a while. It does make people take a second look when I get a call.
Interesting to note: The Tibetan Lamas consider Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Yeti belonging to the animal realm within the six realms of Samsara.

WOW!!! Totally believes in all this ‘unsolved’ mysteries, UFOs, unseen stuffs etc. There’s layers of dimension exist here that most of us can’t see. You may be sitting here reading this comment and at the same spot in another dimension something else is happening.

Dear Rinpoche,
Thank you for sharing these cool videos. I wonder what kind of karma causes sentient beings to take re-birth as one of these very rare creatures as opposed to a ‘normal’ animal. Do they have super natural powers that other animals don’t have? Its good to know what we share the planet with so many other different and interesting life forms. It gives us humans a wider perspective on life and makes us not so human centric and selfish thinking about only ourselves all the time.
It is Rinpoche who first made me curious about this creature. The Sasquatch or Big foot has appeared in folklore of many cultures and there are absolutely many evidence that point to the existence of this creature. Many people can also infer based on logic that such a creature does exist. Hope this creature can stay and co exist side by side with human beings.
The fact that Rinpoche’s assistant Monlam attest to it is further information that such animal does exist within the animal kingdom. Rinpoche spends a lot of time looking for interesting videos to share with us. He likes us to have a variety of information about a vareity of subjects because it is fun and helps us develop a wider perspective of things.
Bigfoots, Sasquash and yetis are pretty incredible that they still managed to escape from the scrutiny of the encroaching human population upon virgin forests. What i find most amazing about this is that the existence of these creatures just shows that science is not all-encompassing and there are many areas where science have not reached yet.
Another area is the mind and fortunately for us, Lord Buddha has already achieved the fullest potential there is to achieved with the mind and shows us with a lot of compassion, patience and understanding of our human condition. In other words, science has a lot to learn from Buddhism and its masters, the great understanding of our minds.
Maybe david in his previous life Waaaaaaaaaaas a sasquatch???

When I was young, which I must admit was a long time ago, movies like Bigfoot would scare me close to death. I really believed they were real but my fear made my mind nullify them. Now that I read Monlam’s account of Yetis and how it is a norm, my mind no longer nullifies and accepts such beings exist in the animal realm. Yes, the mind is very powerful that it can make up what is real and not, and also nullify even if it’s real. I believe that the mind when transformed can be an even more powerful asset which can transform our ways of being so that we can be of true benefit to ourselves and many others.
David, my mind is open to explore if indeed you was a Sasquatch… ☺
This is a very interesting blog. I am quite unsure whether to believe or not as no one has ever seen them or ever capture them on films. With the advancement of technologies why is it no one ever capture them on film if they really exist ? All i can say is bigfoot falls under those mythical creatures like dragons. I have not study deeply teachings by Buddhas on different realms of beings , i hope Rinpoche can recommend such readings to me. But as Rinpoche said so in one of his blogs he totally believe the existent of Bigfoot as in Buddhism there are many different realms and each realms hes different unseen being ,due to that i chose to believe it as well.
As a layman like me there are many things i cant perceived. I depends on Rinpoche to tell me : ). And i totally agree with David , human science has alot to learn from Buddhism. As Buddhism has alot to offer to us – Humans.
Thank you for all the lovely information on Saquatches (Yeti). I think it is seriously cool that Uncle Monlam had a chance to see a Yeti. I wish I could see one of them one day. The videos are really interesting I have now learnt more about Yetis. The bigfoot calling sounds so realistic that is why it is 100% real. The 70’s really have all the information on cryptids like bigfoot. One day, I would like to visit Ape Canyon. Are there any specific books that state more of these magestic creatures that Rinpoche can recommend? I think this is a very interesting topic
We have the brains (scientists) and the equipment in this modern time but BigFoot has eluded us even though there have been so many sightings of this elusive being. It is rather clever, able to avoid capture, survive in the wilderness and remain a mystery. Unless and until it is caught and held captive, no one will be able to know much more about it than what is already available. It looks just like a furry human being – could it be the missing link? Since BigFoot also exists on another continent half a world away, then it is testament that it is not just a legend. Since it cannot be captured, then it must exist on a different realm?
Re Monlam’s witness of this creature while crossing the mountain ranges : how about a look-and-tell session (not that I do not believe what Rinpcohe has mentioned) but it is always fun to know more from first-hand account?
I am relating the findings of Bigfoot to the discovery of ancient civilizations that were once written in ancient books and told in fables and stories of our time. Then curiosity driven archaeologists or historians would spend their lives searching for these long-forgotten buried sites and voila! Found them buried six feet underground (estimate). So are these ancient stories unfounded based on hear-say rumors?
I believe they do exist. Bigfoot may look at us and think we are “aliens” that exists in a different form. The difference is they are exists in a different world from ours. Who dare to say that we are any different from them? These creatures lives in isolation in the deepest forest, jungle or snow mountains but humans lives in concrete jungles.

Once again, as Buddhists we know that samsara has infinite varieties of life forms with its own infinite sub-species within one kind…
So the only finite one left is that in my empty numb skull that insists that only I am alone in this universe and if anyone says otherwise…Anathema! To the pyre! The devil!
And the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Rinpoche smile at us….and occasionally hand over a lotus…tapping us on the shoulder

This is very fascinating blog post. All these mysterious creatures are so interesting. I remember hearing stories about them when I was much younger and there was already so much interest back then. Although we do not seem to be that interested in them now because the media is more attached to bringing other stories to the masses, but I have always enjoyed them.
I would always look out for more news about exploration or expeditions. I totally believe that BIG FOOT, UFOs and etc exist. There are many different forms of existence. We can’t be the only ones here.
What frustrates is that there is no follow up though. The stories just stop or die off. Yes,that sound of the Big Foot is very eerie indeed. Shatters the night air!
Tibetans really believe in yetis. In “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand”, Day 12, Pabongka Rinpoche says that if one takes refuge in the three jewels, one will not be bothered by the harmful actions of humans or creatures. He told the following story: “Once a nomad was left alone for a day in an uninhabited spot and was attacked by a yeti. He nearly died. His head was still scarred, and so a lama asked what had caused these scars; the man told his story. The lama gave him instruction on taking refuge. Later the man again encountered a yeti. He took refuge; the yeti merely sniffed the air, did not pick up the human scent, and went away.”
Sasquatch (yeti, big foot), Nessie, UFO, are phenomena that science still could not prove until today. Are they real? Not until we see or hear with their own eyes or ears. But there are many who find it hard not to believe with so many sightings and recordings over the decades.
I am intrigued by the unexplained that sometimes science and logic could not prove or explained. Maybe one day these mysteries may be unraveled. Until then, my mind is open.
When I saw the video picture and hear the sounds of the yeti that came from it. I visualize a very big giant human screaming away. Yeti bigfoot as this creature is known can only be found in the snow mountains in Tibet. I wonder why things and animals that grow in the snow mountains are so big and gigantic. This big foot remind me of the giant gorrila I saw when I visited universal studios in Hollywood. The picture I saw from the video look like a huge giant that looks like a human but with hair all over his body and even has big breasts. This bigfoot walks like a human. The sound that it makes is not human. Who knows when we humans are extinct yetis might take over the planet.
