In early 90s, I shared a room with a monk in a house in Gadoh. At night, I would do my studies or do my readings usually while sitting on the bed and leaning my back against the window.
One night, something happened… with all the lights on and all the fans on, I felt somebody’s hand coming through the window and touching me, but nobody was there when I looked behind!
Also, in the middle of the night when I was sleeping, somebody would rise up from the bed and walk towards me. I used to think it was my roommate, but actually it was not! The feeling of someone’s hand on my chest pressing me down and the buzzing sound I used to hear the minute the person came near my bed was really, really weird and so freaky. And these incidents would continue every night…

kinda eerie what Rinpoche experience, interesting experience.
Similar experiences I made during my youth for couple of years and I didn’t had any guidance or mantra as protection.
After, I became Buddhist, I had several frightening experiences as well as divine experiences with spirits during meditation sessions in retreat.
Gosh, it’ scary…..
I used to experience “something” pressing on my body, my body would be immobile and I can’t utter a single word. This only happened if I sleep flat on my bed and not if I sleep on my side. However, after I started on my dharma practice this experience became less and less and it’s been 15 to 16 years already that I have no such scary experience.

Many years ago, I had a personal experience as you had. I was asleep at that point so did not see any thing approach. It was just a feeling of hand pressing down and suffocating me at the chest/neck area. I now recall the static in the mind which was red and black for me and in my head, was screaming “evil” over and over. I broke out in cold sweat and whole body was literally frozen, including voice, eye lids, hands, everything. It was scary and the only thing free was my mind. I only know 1 mantra at that point “Om Mani Padme Hum” and so i started to chant that in my head to drown out the screaming voice. It felt like an eternity and then ‘the hand’ left me and suddenly my voice, hands and everything was able to move and I look around and saw nothing. I was visited 2 consecutive nights but after that, it didn’t come back anymore. I had search internet and there are people who said there are scientific explanation to all this and its just my body reacting badly. Its just hard to tell anyone else about it and have people understand. Then again I had no proof especially these kinds of not normal events. There was also a time when I felt a gentle soul came and sit on my bed one time. All these are just feelings and no proof and so who would believe such things. I am glad you had shared this with us.
I have had the experience of this Purple mask flying off a persons face and I would just focus on the face left behind that seemed brighter . Sometimes the purple mask would have a grimis or nasty face, one of thos times, I had seen it on a lady who latter I realized died as we had a fight , instead of being female as we are today in that time we where both Native Braves and he wanted my wife for himself. During a fight with him he fell over a cliff and died and I know I felt badly for that happening.
We did have some healing over that after a vision quest where we both remebered that time.
Sometimes I ‘d see the purle mask and I seemed ot be able to ingnore it.
I also had been taken under wing at that time with a spiritual teacher who I remebered as Crazy Horse and myself as Black Buffalo Woman, in this life he was trained by Maharishi Mehesh Yogi., I loved the hindu storeis, then I saw this spiritual Teacher in many many times awaken me . My feeling is the last relationship before this one was my being Black Buffalo Woman and He was Crazy Horse and so muh phenomina around this, including an experienc in this life time as a real , Golden Ealge leading me up the street the day ( it di dfigure eights over my hose enough time fo rmy husband and neigbor to see with bioculars that it was infact a Golden Eagle and not a turkey vulture) . I found the books at the library that actually led me to the mystic warriors of the plains Indians and finally Crazy Horse himself. When I went to a seeion withthe spirityual session I said OMG you are still alive. It took me a long time ot land.
So this man, a Spirtual Teacher had once been Crazy Horse who awakedend me in this life and then I became to remembering allot of the life times with him awakening me again and again.
I remember this past life in Tibet and he was in Tibetan robes a s a teacher and I had a tiger than I was responsible for, and in this time in medtaion the Tiger visited me as if for real. all while this healing with the Spirtual teacher who gave me a Mantra and taught me japa meditation.
Then as mysteriosly he came he left and said now I must let this allgo and evolve on my own.
Then one day I hired a practitioner who was renting the same office that spiritual teacher left from. He was a hypnotist, , I went to him because I was having difficulties at home and feelling I may leave my marriage to get more clarity. I was certanly willing to have the spiritual teacher go , noticing my love for the teacher and knowing we are to detach from this as with everything changes and I wish for that freedom for all I love fanyway not saying I am perfect here, yet I had messages that every one deserves freedom to stay of leave. and I accepted it even though I worked through the experience of letting go. I saw the importance of that..
Then , I left my Husband LOL just over night , it felt liberating in some way and to have clarity for my relationships.
I left over night and went back the next day, I continued with the Hypnotist because the Hypnotist and also my Tae Kwon Do instructor helped me to do things for my Dear Father in law that can allow him home as I did noit want him passing away in a hospital all by himself.
I went to this hypnotist often and one day a purple mask came off of him only it was the entire shape of the body and not just the face, and this time it jumped off of him and went into my body.
After a while we became friends ( let’s call him the Hypnotist) and I learned about hypnosis and the power of our words. as I apprentised with this Brother, At this time I also met a mentor a former Tibetan Nun, so Buddhist phylosophy was coming into play.
Now my meditation I did for many years the Buddhist nun told me to stop . I did slowly . yet did ot replace it with Buddhist practicees. I didnot seem to understand this Dharma.
I did feel the Hindue Practice made me feel bettter. Yet giving it came slowly. this advise had me letting go of meditations more and more. I suppose it is the mind then or ego coming up weakening me to let go oft as well.
Ther was 8 years with the friendship with the hypnotist. and we had a busineess in the same place. He also disappeared one day when his Business went bankrupt.
IN that time I saw the past life with him , as a Brother I his sister who had to stay home and look after 6 other Brothers ( parents already pasted on) and he could get these boys to behave so well better than I could. He went to war to help free the Black People , the south against the north called the Civil War in America.
THis Brother promised he be back from that war, and then died in a heroic move and he died with so much anger that he not come back as he promisded me. —— yet in this life he did come back , yet carried allot of anger go figure as he did die with anger on his mind, and I seem to remember that Karmic end that it was time ot move on in this life, yet we both had difficulty leaving this time and then he finaly did., ANd heal this in myself. and I send love to everyone over the eithers.
So the Purple Mask was as if cellular Memory , until I see this video today . Who KNows what energies keep us from being ourselves Blessings
