Here’s a picture of smiling little Gabriel taken this afternoon. Gabriel’s mom Ellena shared that when she massaged Gabriel sometime this week and for the first time in 1 year, Gabriel was able to make a sound!
Pastor Susan Lim went to visit Gabriel today. She gave blessings, prayer, words of comfort as well as shared with him about the upcoming Lama Tsongkhapa Day, and also the updates on Kechara Forest Retreat.
Gabriel smiled when Pastor Susan asked him to visit Kechara Forest Retreat and play with the dogs when he gets well!

There is a very sick little boy in coma. He is 8 years old and in the hospital. According to divination done, he requires a Amitayus Buddha initiation. So yesterday our Tsem Ladrang staff went to hospital to set up as tormas need to be made and lots of preparations required was done. When all was ready I went to the hospital to confer initiation of Amitayus for this little boy. To speak to the mother and offer some gentle advice.. The hospital provided a special room for us and we performed the initiation right next to Gabriel. It was an urgent situation and everything went well. May Little Gabriel get well soon.
I had also invited some senior Kechara students and Pastors to receive the initiation in the hospital room together with Gabriel. I couldn’t invite many over because the room is small. The Pastors later will be able to pass this practice to others in the future. Also this will bless the senior elderly students to increase their life force to practice more Dharma.
Su Ming, Ethan, Bryan, Phil, Carmen, Gim Lee, Paris, Shabten house group and Kechara Care people worked very hard to talk to the hospital staff, prepare the special room, transfer the ritual items, make tormas, set up offerings, prepare the students. Our Kechara people are very caring to do so much for Gabriel and family as they were all very concerned… and they were happy to do all the work… I am so glad Kechara can offer support, care and love to little Gabriel and family. I was very happy to offer the Amitayus blessing to the little boy and members of Kechara. It will benefit everyone on many levels.
I would like everyone out there to please MAKE STRONG PRAYERS, RECITE MANTRAS, OFFER LIGHTS, OFFER PUJAS for little Gabriel. He needs all of our good energy, prayers and blessings now. Please put him in your prayers. Please do not forget him…

请为Gabriel祈愿
一名病重的小男孩正处于昏迷状态。他今年只有8岁，却只能躺在医院里。根据占卜结果，他需要接受无量寿佛灌顶。这项仪式需要朵玛和大量的准备工作，所以，昨天詹拉章的职工就到医院安排好一切事项。当一切准备就绪之后，我就到医院为这名小男孩进行灌顶仪式，同时也跟他的母亲交谈并给予一些忠告。医院给我们安排了一个特别的房间，好让我们可以在Gabriel身边举行灌顶仪式。这是一个紧急状况，但一切都进行得相当顺利。希望小Gabriel能早日康复。
我也邀请了一些较年长资深的克切拉学生和讲法师跟Gabriel一起接受这项灌顶仪式。由于病房不大，我无法邀请更多人前来。不过，我们的讲法师未来将能够把这项修持传授给其他人。这次的灌顶仪式，将能加持那些年长和资深的学生，好让他们能拥有更强的生命力去修习更多的佛法。
蔡诗明、周世豪、何耀文、杨其聪、古嘉文、陈锦丽、邱佩芬、克切拉祈愿堂和克切拉亲善部的朋友们很用心地向医院职工讲解，为这个特别病房做好准备。他们也安排制作朵玛，设立供品，将各种法器送到医院，并安顿好那些出席仪式的学生。克切拉人能以一份关怀的心来为Gabriel和他的家人付出，因为他们都很关注这件事。他们都十分乐意那么做。对于克切拉能给予小Gabriel及其家人支持、关怀和爱，我感到十分欣慰。我也很高兴能授予这名小男孩及一些克切拉会员无量寿佛的加持。
我希望每个人都能以强烈的愿力为小Gabriel祈愿、持诵心咒，也为他供灯和举行法会。他现很需要我们的正能量、祈愿和加持。请把他加入你的祈愿中。请别忘了他……

Marilah berdoa untuk Gabriel
Ada seorang kanak-kanak yang sedang berada di dalam koma. Dia baru berusia 8 tahun dan sedang dirawat di hospital. Berdasarkan tilikan yang telah dibuat, dia memerlukan inisiasi Amitayus Buddha. Oleh sebab itu, kakitangan kami di Tsem Ladrang telah pergi ke hospitalnya semalam untuk membuat “torma” dan melaksanakan semua keperluan untuk upacara inisiasi tersebut. Apabila semua keperluan telah disediakan, saya pun pergi ke hospital untuk upacara inisiasi Amitayus untuk Gabriel. Saya juga mengambil kesempatan ini untuk berjumpa dengan ibunya dan memberi sedikit nasihat. Pihak hospital telah menyediakan sebuah bilik khas untuk kami dan kami telah menjalankan upacara inisiasi itu di tepi katil Gabriel. Ketika itu, keadaan di dalam bilik terasa genting tetapi semuanya berjalan lancar. Semoga Gabriel sembuh dengan secepat mungkin.
Saya juga telah menjemput pelajar-pelajar senior dan paderi-paderi Kechara untuk menerima inisiasi itu di dalam bilik hospital bersama dengan Gabriel. Saya tidak dapat menjemput ramai orang kerana bilik itu kecil. Namun demikian, paderi-paderi Kechara boleh memberi praktis ini kepada semua pada masa depan. Upacara ini juga telah memberkati pelajar-pelajar senior yang tua untuk melanjutkan usia mereka agar mereka dapat meneruskan aktiviti Dharma mereka.

Dear Rinpoche,
Gabriel’s mom is looking after Gabriel with much love and care. Passed her the comic ‘A Princess called Flowers’. As I conducted prayers she was doing physio to his arms and legs and wiping saliva from lips whenever there is small seizure. Docs giving him steroids now. Reassured her that Gabriel is having the best paediatrician in Malaysia looking after him according to many doctors.
When he responded with eye movements its so hopeful.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. The good news is Gabriel is getting better. They did an EEG today which tracks brain waves, and it shows that he is having fewer seizures. It means that he is responding to the new medication from the doctors, and the treatment is working. To everyone who prayed for him, thank you.

This afternoon did prayers for Gabriel with David , Thierry, Adeline, Yoke Fui, Su An. I feel hopeful when touching Gabriel head talking to him and he responded by rolling eyes.
His mom said Drs slowly reducing steroid and …optimistic. He can breathe on his own now without oxygen support.
Dear Rinpoche,
This evening, Ellena (Gabriel’s mom) came to Kechara House to join the Medicine Buddha puja.
After prayers, Dr Lanse, Mdm Lim & Prof Choi went with me to visit Gabriel. Ellena informed that 2 days ago, dooctor reduced further sedative medication. Gabriel didn’t show physical signs of seizures. This Friday, doctor will evaluate the steroids dosage if it should remain or be reduced.
Gabriel was awake when we arrived. He responded by fluttering his eye lids when we stroke his head. His parents are hoping for more medication to be reduced in his next evaluation.

It is really sad and painful for both mother and son to suffer from pain like this. It makes me cry because of it. His mum and his connections to Rinpoche led him to receiving the initiation although in a sad situation but in any way they are both now blessed with Amitayus never ending love. To Gabriel’s mum, please take care of your health as well. May you never have to suffer the pain this way again.

This post really struck my heart and reminded me of my own experience many years ago…I understand from my own experience for Gabriel’s Mother…and Rinpoche’s own advice to me personally for my own Mother. Truth be told that is Dharma.
I put my life on hold yesterday and and dedicated all my daily prayers, made torma, black tea, flower, candle offerings for the day for Gabriel and Mum and I will do more prayers daily for Mother and Son. Love and Prayers to Gabriel and Mum xo

and it’s nice to see how many people care for him…
Gabriel can’t really respond but his mother stays by his side, day and night, just to make sure he’s not alone. A mother’s love really is unconditional and totally without agenda. Elena, you’re a very strong woman and not many will be able to go through what you are facing, with as much grace and composure. You’re an inspiration to people everywhere to show them what true love is.
Thank you Rinpoche for conferring Amitayus to bless little Gabriel. In planting the seeds of enlightenment in his mind, may Gabriel get well and gain the body, speech and mind of Amitayus. Everybody is praying for you little one, get well soon x

May this suffering he and his dear ones are experiencing transform into a cause for complete enlightenment.

Now all you have to do is to get well, to relieve your mom’s burden and live a useful life serving ours!

I was one of the fortunate ones to witness and receive this powerful Amitayus Amitabha initiation and blessing. It was sad to see Gabriel hooked on equipment will tubes going into his mouth to aid breathing. It was comforting to see a mother’s love and compassion in Ellena, Gabriel’s mom, tenderly attending to him.
The dharma discourse by Rinpoche before, during and after the initiation was yet another profound teaching.
In the same ward, another Indian boy, Tamedran Raj, lies in coma, his lungs filled with blood. His parents and relatives were anxiously waiting outside the room where Rinpoche gave the blessings. As soon as the initiation was over, they approached the staff of Rinpoche’s private office (PO) requesting for prayers too. Rinpoche gave instructions to the PO staff and pastors who returned that very night to assist Tamedran and his family. Pastor Susan followed up the next day and did prayers and taught the family the prayers as well.
The latest update is that Tamedran has slightly recovered with two teams of doctors watching over him.
May Gabriel and Tamedran recover fully.

I have just learned about Gabriel and his mom and now will send prayers and healing for his health to become stable and good and prayers for his beloved family.
April 13 news : i’ve just received news from Gabriel’s mom, Ellena. Gabriel had EEG test this morning. The results shown improvement and his neuro doc feels the steroids is helping in seizure. She will continue to give him the steroids meds and plan to reduce dosage of his anti-convulsions meds gradually in the coming weeks. Docs say that his muscles responds have improved also.

April 19, 2012-Pastor Ngeow went and did prayers for Gabriel with a group of Kecharians. The Doctors have taken Gabriel out of intensive care and to a normal ward which is a good sign. They are slowly reducing the steroid and Gabriel can breathe on his own without oxygen support. I am happy to hear this. TR
Dear friends. This evening Lanse, Mdm Lim, Prof Choi went with me to visit little Gabriel. Just wanted you to share with you on Gabriel’s condition. Ellena (Gabriel’s mom) informed that two days ago, Dr further reduced sedative medication. Gabriel didn’t show physical signs of seizures.This Friday, Dr will evaluate the steroids dosage if it should remain or also to be reduced. Gabriel was awake when we arrived. He responded by fluttering his eyelids when we stroke his head. Let’s pray that little Gabriel will be less dependent on medication, and gain strength each day towards his full recovery.

Gabriel’s sedative medication has been reduced for a few weeks now and he has been free of seizures for 1 month… however, he started to have a few seizures recently. Please keep him in your prayers during this wesak celebration. Light a candle for Gabriel. Say a prayer and send good thoughts of recovery for him and strength for his parents.

Visited Gabriel this evening. It’s closed to 5 months now that this boy has been in this condition. His muscles are weakening due to inactivities. Physiotherapist identified his shoulder muscles weakening and the joint area is loosened. His seizures came back but not as frequent as before with the current lowered medication dosage. Please continue to keep Gabriel in your prayers.
Will keep praying for him. May i know if the Doctors have found out the cause for seizures? take care!
Update May 29th :
Dear Friends, This is the latest news about little Gabriel’s condition. He has been vomitting and in pain. He is scheduled to go for a CT brain scan now as doctors are concern it could be brain edema that’s causing the vomitting. If found, Edema will cause more damage to his brain. Please pray that it’s not and that the doctors will find a way of helping gabriel and that the medicine administered works effectively on him. Thank you so much.
Update May 29th from ellena :
Test result came back. There is brain edema so doctors will perfom a lumbar puncture to test the pressure. Not much changes in MRI result done in February. His brain is quite damaged.. and reversible is not likely unless miracle happens.
Dear Friends.
It’s been close to 6 months since Gabriel has been ill. The doctors cut down sedatives to help him wake up but now that the effects of the sedatives are lessening in his system, his seizures are recurring again. Doctors said that perhaps the seizures didn’t go away but was just suppressed by the sedatives, steroids and other chemicals administered to him.
Because of the prolonged medication, it stresses out his organs and now it’s affecting his liver. He’s not been able to hold down milk because of the seizures and has been on drip mostly. If medication is increased again, his seizures will be under controlled but his organs will be affected. Today his left lung collapsed. Please continue to pray for Gabriel. Thank you.

Ellena (Gabriel’s mom) shared that Gabriel has been seizuring non-stop these few days and sometimes vomits due to the seizures and coughs. Gabriel has been receiving acupuncture treatment since January. As of 3 days ago, he has started to receive chinese medicine treatment (taken orally) as doctors are willing to let the family try since they can’t do much for him anymore.

Just wanted to share with you Gabriel’s condition as of June 17th.
Doctors have increased back his medications to keep his seizures under control.
Gabriel is getting more traditional chinese treatment from various practitioners. When i was there this past sunday, I saw Gabriel being treated by a man who heard about Gabriel’s condition and on his own decided to lend his services. He does chi (energy) treatment. Gabriel’s lungs have weakened and is back on ventilator.
Then an acupuncturist lady who is a long time friend of Gabriel’s grandma came and stuck many acupuncture needles into Gabriel. This lady understudied with her master many decades ago. Her master has since passed away but she kept this rare and special herbal recipe medicine from 27 years ago. This recipe healed 2 people in similar condition back then which this lady witnessed, so she’s administering it on Gabriel.

Gabriel’s current condition
1. Stop seizuring as the doctor has again increase his dosage
2. Started his traditional chinese medicine for a week plus
Last week when I visited Ellena with Li Kheng from Shanghai, I spent an hour plus with her. Gabriel was not doing that well at that time ie one side of his lungs had collapsed due to him being bedridden and etc. Ellena has started traditional chinese medication on Gabriel which will take a while to see the results but the chinese doctor is very experience and she has the prescription from her teacher who had cure a few similar cases like Gabriel.
Ellena is doing ok, she is very strong….SUPER strong. I really respect this lady…it has been almost half a year that Gabriel has been in this condition. His mom and his grandmother without fail has been by his bedside every single day. Not only she relies on the advice from the doctors, she has done and is still doing more research. Plus, she also goes around the ICU comforting other parents.
Please continue having Gabriel on your prayers. We at Kechara will be visiting the family frequently to be a part of the support for Ellena and her family.
Today, I visited little Gabriel at the hospital. There were a group of Christians who came to visit n prayed for him too.
Gabriel is suffering from seizures quite often n vomiting. He has lost weight.

This morning I visited Gabriel. His seizures happens very often…almost constantly. His dad Gary, takes the night shift to take care of him. Gary asked how is Rinpoche doing and we had a nice short chat. Ellena, his mom came shortly after and Gary left to go rest.
While I was doing some prayers, a group of doctors came to do their morning round. They discussed adjusting the dosage of various medication and also what kind of medication to administer.
After prayers, I had a nice chat with Ellena on Tsongkhapa’s Guru Yoga practice, on the power of visualization, on developing compassion as she takes care of Gabriel tirelessly. Ellena has increased the frequency to do animal liberation to dedicate to Gabriel.

Just to update on Gabriel. I visited him on Sun 26 Aug in the normal ward now. His seizures are rather frequent. The Chinese Doctor has been very kind to travel to UMMC to carry out twice a week to administer acupuncture on Gabriel. Ellena is very grateful to our pastors for visiting Gabriel despite their busy schedules. If I am not mistaken, Ellena said that Gabriel’s condition may be difficult to treat if the seizure is to continue. I hope everyone will have Gabriel in your prayers so that he will get well soon. Ellena is a super strong mom and she takes very good care of Gabriel.

Update on Gabriel as of Nov 22nd :
When I arrived in Gabriel’s hospital room, Gary (Gabriel’s dad) and a foot reflexologist was there. I greeted them and Gabriel as well and was saying to Gabriel how nice to have his foot massaged. To my surprised, Gabriel reacted back with a smile.
Gary told me that a month ago, a nurse noticed Gabriel smiled. Since then, he has been smiling more. I noticed his body is so much more less tensed, his fingers not stiffed like before and the muscles around his shoulders are relaxed. He can move his head left and right whenever he feels uncomfortable. His eyes are more focused as well.
He is also getting regular TCM treatment, his parents are sponsoring animal liberation, prayers and giving him so much care round the clock.

Kechara Forest Retreat awaits your arrivals
Our mind is really very powerful, when we have a very strong mind, we can achieve what we can’t before, Gabriel has prove us that.
With Kechara, many people got helped, with Rinpoche, many people got saved, Rinpoche’s compassion really moved the world, I know Hospital is not easy to make special arrangement and their rules are very strict, but for Gabriel, for someone we don’t know, Kecharian has successfully made this arrangement for Gabriel to receive the initiation in a proper manner, the kind of care and effort was not able to be found easily, but Rinpoche created it here.
It is really very heart-warming to come to know that Gabriel is starting to give responses after the Amitayus initiation nearly nine months ago.
It must have been hard on Gabriel, he may really want to wake up and make responses but he simply cannot. It must have been hard on his families as well, especially his mother who needs to take good care of her son while containing pains within herself.
Since end Nov we are starting to see clearer signs of Gabriel recovering. I pray that Gabriel will continue to show signs of recovery and that very soon he will be jumping and joking around like many other kids, and to repay the kindness of those who care for him so much.
So glad to read about the improvement of little Gabriel.
Gabriel, may you improve swiftly and we want to hear you laugh!
Good news from Pastor Susan. I am always hopeful about Gabriel’s recovery and seeing him smile again is just a poignant moment. We must continue to have him in our prayers and continue to wish for his good recovery. Thank you Rinpoche for all your prayers, Gabriel’s mum Ellena for tirelessly being at Gabriel’s side and our Pastors for their prayers and care.

This is fantastic news. A few months ago, Rinpoche was informed about little Gabriel and conferred Amitayus initiation on the boy. Amitayus is commonly referred to as the Long Life Buddha and is often called upon to remove obstacles that endangers one’s life and it is wonderful to see Gabriel conscious and smiling after such a long time in coma. I am glad to see Rinpoche’s picture always nearby Gabriel and may Rinpoche’s prayers and blessings continue to be with Gabriel.
Gabriel and his mother and family have been through so much and I hope there is even better news ahead about Gabriel’s condition.
It is so happy when you see someone got improvement from their sickness. I went to visit Gabriel many times, every time I went to see him then I saw Gabriel’s mother and father. They really not give up their and take full care of the son. This make me feel so heavy because no one know when little Gabriel will be wake up! I remembered Gabriel’s grandma cried in front of me, because she still cannot accept why her grandson become like this, she just too love her grandson.
I like all of the people hoping Gabriel can wake up one day, then I believed that all peoples around him will more happier and appreciate what they have now. They are kind people, they love this kid, they hope he can wake up again! Yes, sometime if you believe in miracle then the miracle will happen, how miracle happen, through our pure love and care…may be….

We have been watching closely, all these months, Gabriel’s condition,and praying for him . For a long while,he had been in the same state with no improvement. Then recently, he has begun to smile. I visited Gabriel few days ago after visiting a friend in University Hospital. At that time, he was sleeping. I am really happy to see Gabriel is able to smile despite suffering in this state.
Another kids who is 2 wards away from Gabriel, is also suffering tremendously and requires medical equipments to help him breath.
Walking into kids wards reminds me of the many sufferings in this world, and reminds me to serve others more.
Very happy for little Gabriel, and for his parents, who never once lost faith in Rinpoche and the prayers prescribed for his parents to do. And many thanks to the Kechara pastors who never failed to visit Gabriel and the family, and to do more prayers and blessings for him.
Mantras and prayers are truly powerful for healing. And Gabriel is so very fortunate to have Rinpoche convey the Amitayus initiation on him. Rinpoche rarely confers initiation, but when the need is great, Rinpoche will do so.
In fact, Rinpoche is the holder of hundreds of lineages, having received these initiations at the feet of his gurus, including Kyabje Zong Rinpoche, Kyabje Lati Rinpoche and Kensur Jampa Yeshe Rinpoche. Rinpoche has kept up his practices all these years – I have personally seen Rinpoche staying up overnight in order to complete his sadhanas.
And I was told that Rinpoche is upkeeping all these practices so that if someone needs them, he is able to convey the necessary teachings. So incredibly compassionate.

I am very happy to hear about Gabriel.
I am also happy that Gabriel’s mom has been following the divination results given beginning of this year. A few months back, I had a long chat with Gabriel’s mom, she was very diligent and serious with the divination prescription. In fact she went through with me one by one and told me she has done everything.
There are similar incidences like Gabriel, those who has follow through on the divination instruction, it will definitely benefit them on a long term basis.

Gabriel has lung infection and been having fever for 1 week. He was awake when I visited today. Ellena (his mom) was sponging him to lower down his fever and his aunt mee yin was there to assist as well.

What the wonderful news see little Gabriel awake with the smiling face. Ellena show so much care and compassion toward Gabriel. Update Dec 30, 2012 :
Gabriel had lung infection and fever for over a week and was put on antibiotics which weakens the body. He has recovered from the infection and fever when i visited him today. He was asleep when i was there. Besides his mom him, his grandma was also there to visit and takes care of him.
The family is getting ready to bring him home. The family was told by the doctors that his condition requires long term care and the hospital is not able to provide such facility. However, the hospital is not rushing them to leave but giving the family time to prepare for the transition.
Do continue to pray for gabriel and the family and may your good wishes returns many fold for your loved ones as well.

I rejoice very much in seeing that little Gabriel is getting better and showing signs of improvements. I also rejoice that we Kecharians can be of assistance to people like Gabriel and his mother and how perfect it is that we have Pastors who are like Rinpoche’s arm and eyes who goes out there to help with no conditions and with all their heart.
This is exactly what Rinpoche has always taught us, that if we are sincere, we do not need to always rely on “Lama”, we have the ability and power to also help, as what the Buddha’s teachings says, we have a Buddha nature… and I suppose this is one way Rinpoche is showing us that we are capable… if we put in action and effort, trust, and believe in what we learn and teach.
