At a student’s home….
One of my students travelled to Nepal with me and we visited many Vajra Yogini Chapels. She was inspired and when she returned home, she renovated her house to fit in a spectacular Vajra Yogini Chapel.
She makes extensive offerings everyday to Her.
I am happy for her and her family. At least they got some benefits from their relationship with me. I do want them to be protected and ok always. They have been helpful to my works in the past and I appreciate them very much.

This is a really modern and upmarket version of a traditional Nepali Vajrayogini chapel. I do like the set up, particularly the fact that they set up a special seat for Rinpoche to give teachings from. I call that creating the causes for the lama to visit and true enough, Rinpoche visited and gave teachings at the chapel during the 2007 KL pilgrimage. During this inaugural KL tour, Rinpoche personally guided students around the various departments, giving extensive teachings at each location. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jBz5pUx_kE
I want to create something similar at my home once I get the materials together. My current Vajrayogini is only 8in tall, but I have a 3 ft one that I will soon be inviting home from KSA. Can’t wait to make extensive beautiful offerings to her!
Hahaha modern is right…as sacred and holy as the Vajrayogini chapels in Nepal are, they are also very small and dark, and can only fit one or two people in at a time. You can get a good idea of them from the Vajrayogini book by KMP and KD.
But this chapel…THIS chapel can fit at least 20 or 30 people! I remember when I first stepped in here, it was the first and only time I’ve been there. I was taken aback by how much care and thought had been put into the design and decorating, and layout. The chapel is on the top floor of their home…imagine having Vajrayogini living above your head every single day, what a blessing!
Yes, this was the first Vajrayogini chapel I visited and it is situated here in Kuala Lumpur. This is also the Vajrayogini that I made my first set of torma offering.
Rinpoche had started a trend in Malaysia where more and more students and friends are inviting bigger statues home, blessing their environment and creating beautiful altars (http://www.kechara.com/shopping/news/altars-with-a-twist/) (http://www.kechara.com/arts/news/bling-up-the-buddhas/) We always joke amongst ourselves that our altars seem to have grown over time.
These setups are like a ‘sanctuary’ for our mind and soul to ‘discharge and recharge’. A safe haven for us to put down our defenses and get in-touch with our inner self!
May the homes of Malaysians be blessed by the images of our holy Mother Queen Vajrayogini and Lama Tsongkhapa!

How spectacular! The dedication and the conviction of the student. Most admirable. I too wish to have such beautiful statues with many many offerings. The bigger the statues the better! The more offerings the better! But then again my resources are limited.
But i have a plan! A cunning little plot… Hehehehe. I can actually have just that! How? Through our new Gompa AND KWPC of course. So I shall get off my lazy “behind” and contribute in whatever way towards these amazing projects of which I for one want to be a part of sooooo much! After all, how can I expect to receive if I first do not give. I remember a quote I once heard which goes something like this:
“In order to receive anything, we have to first open our palms in the act of giving” – Name escapes me.
Truly exciting and wonderful times ahead!
Such a beautiful shrine. I can feel the serenity in this room just by looking at the photo. I hope one day, I will have an altar like this where I can make offering to her.
