Animal liberation in the south
On April 2nd 2011, Kechara Southern Jewel Center (KSJC) liberated 300 kg of fish! This is the 2nd time that the study group in Johor Bahru has liberated fishes as a study group activity. On that day, 14 people participated in the event. This included KSJC members, their friends and family.
The catfish were purchased from the market, and they were actually due to be bought and slaughtered the next day. Instead, 300kg of the fishes were rescued and released into the river near Sutera Mall, Ungku Tun Amniah!
According to Grace Leu (Treasurer of KSJC), all who participated in the fish liberation were happy to have been part of the event. They enjoyed it a lot and it was through the activity that participants realised the importance of life. It created the awareness of not harming others… whether humans or animals.
By liberating animals it reminds us that the meat we eat comes from living beings. Some of us tend to forget that, which is why activities such as these are very important to have. I hope KSJC continues this practice. It’s very beneficial.
KSJC will be conducting animal liberation monthly… so do join in, if you are in Johor Bahru!

Dedicating the merits collected

What a nice way to spend our day. Look at the kid who follow the parents for liberation, how beautiful for them do witness, experience something good when they are young.
KSJC did a very good job in nurturing the people in Johor, they care and love their people in Johor very much I’m sure. They have been keeping very good contact with mother center Kechara House since day one. May their group continue to grow and bring Dharma to the southern part of Malaysia.
Yeah, what a nice day out with friends and family, instead of going to shopping or movie, we actually take some of our “precious” time out to help other.
Rinpoche is very kind, Rinpoche never force anyone to become a vegetarian, but it will be great if we can take few days out from a month to benefiting others. We can teach out next generation how to love all sentient being.
Releasing any amount of animal also is a very good way to dedicate merit for deceased for a good rebirth in their future life.
KSJC done a good job for this
It’s great to know that KSJC is liberating fishes. It’s very meritorious and a wonderful way to educate people about the importance of saving lives and not killing.
On a spiritual aspect, it also helps people collect merits for long life. I rejoice for KSJC’s growth. May KSJC reach out to more people in Johor.
