Kuantan band performs at Kechara Care!
What a fun night! On Sunday, Kechara Care Lounge was packed out for a special performance by the Kuantan group. They came to spend the weekend in Kuala Lumpur to tour around Kechara House and the other departments, and also to perform!
There has been a band within the Kuantan group all this while and since some of their Kuantan friends are from KL, they thought that it would be a great way to introduce them to Kechara when those friends are back in the city during the weekend.
On Sunday night, three musicians from the group graciously agreed to perform a set list made up of popular Cantonese and English pop songs. It was a wonderful and relaxed evening, and we would like to thank the Kuantan group for choosing Kechara Care as the place to showcase their talents. More events like this will be held in the Lounge very soon, as they promised to come back to perform some more!
The Kuantan group are a very interactive and fun bunch! Under their own initiative (and with a little bit of help from a Kechara liaison, Kok Yek Yee!) they have a Chinese Setrap Puja (every Friday at 9pm), Dharma sharing (every last Sunday of the month at 2pm), a guitar class every alternate Tuesday, at 8.30pm and a Kid’s class (every Sunday of the month at 10am).
It’s quite impressive that they’ve established all of this on their own!

The kuantan group band is very good. I did not understand the lyrics to most of the songs as they were mostly in Chinese, but generally I think that their tunes were great. They sang very well without stuttering or stammering. I am really proud of the kuantan group. They deserve every praise they get. Uncle Peter is very good at serving drinks.
Kuantan study group started and headed by Leonard can be considered a branch of Kechara House. Off and on tours will be organised for them to come down to KL bringing newbies from Kuantan to tour our 13 departments and outlets. Not forgetting Ladrang which I am sure they will be very keen to see. As some of the Kuantan folks have migrated to work in KL. Their friends will find it more comfortable with familiar faces around. Kechara Care come in handy and at the right time for outstation members to relax after their mini tour. And members fromn outstation can also stay in the hostel a few doors away from Kechara Care which is on top of KH2. Kechara Care not only caters for Kuantan members but also for members from other states.
Kudos to the Kuantan Group who put in the effort to come all the way to participate in KH mini tour and performing in Kechara Care. Well done Leonard for heading and setting up the Kuantan Group! From the pictures, you guys really have a fun night!
I met Leonard and his wife, arranged by Chia of KP, before they renovated the space above their office in Kuantan. They briefed me of how the reno would be and the lay out of the place.
They are a sincere couple who wish to bring dharma to the Kuantan folks. Today the premises are not only ready but filled with dharma activities among regulars there.
On October 10, they will be inviting a 3′ Lama Tsongkhapa statue to the premises. How wonderful! They will have the support of some Kecharians who will make their way to Kuantan to help them invite Lama Tsongkhapa.
